synthroid and toprol

Fast forward a few months and I began cutting Synthroid 50 in half and taking half everyday. I also split Toprol 25 in two until I quit that medication. Feeling depressed and tired all the time, I went to the free clinic to see what they could do. The Nurse Practicianer without any hesitation prescribed to me prozac 20 mg. I started taking Prozac everyday and felt some lifting of mood and energy. Then over time I noticed hyperthyroid symptoms building up again.

I also take toprol and synthroid. Any thought on taking these together? Thanks for any imput.

mine was just the opposite. I was on the Synthroid with Anxiety and then changed to Armour and the anxiety is gone. I get anxiety here and there, but Dr thinksmy adrenals are fatigued so now I am waiting for those results!! I've been on the Armour for 6 weeks now. I know the T3 is fast acting so maybe some cant handle that much??

I am 42 yrs old and my medications include Toprol, Simvistatin, and now recently added both Loestra and Synthroid 25 mg. for an enlarged thyroid. Since starting the BC and SYnthroid, I have gained about 10 lbs. I know that some of it is inactivity in the winter, but I don't normally gain like this. I started the Synthroid in November, and feel MUCH better.

s Disease. I had RAI May 2010 to kill my thyroid. I am on 125mcg of synthroid daily and 50mg of toprol XL daily. I get these awful adrenaline surges and I dont know if they are panic/anxiety attacks or what. Im really not a pill taking kind of person, I dont even take a tylenol for a headache. My question is this, can you drink sleepytime tea or the sleepytime ension tamer tea while on toprol..

2, T3 141 and TSH .022. Previously when on Synthroid while not feeling the best I had no palpitations and my TSH was .048, T4 9.0, T3 uptake 30 and Free Thyroxine Index 2.7. Thoughts please..scary stuff!!

It's now been over two weeks since I had RAI treatment for Graves. I was diagnosed with Graves in February and went on Methimazole and Toprol for the heart. I had a mild to moderate problem with TED and the drugs helped to relieve the pressure over a month or two. Since I had RAI, my eyes have worsened to about the same as they were prior to diagnosis. My question is: Does going on methimazole and toprol help ease symptoms after RAI?

I, too, take Toprol XL as well as meds for depression and anxiety and have just learned about these problems with it.

HI! Not sure if I am in the right discussion group with all of my symptoms, but this is where I will start. I am 37 yo female, history of smoking about 3/4 pack per day. Diagnosed two years ago with PVC's. The doctors put me on Toprol. Pretty much non eventful until about 6 months ago. Over the last few months I have been having strong PVC's with lightheadness. Scares me, I think Im going to pass out.

ve heard only bad about Synthroid (Armour Thyroid is a natural choice, and my close friend swears by it) and when my Endo said Synthroid was going to be the route we were going to go if we needed to, I was like "no way". I've gotten very picky about what goes into my body. When I had the chest flutters, the Cardio doc tried to put me on Toprol and I honestly would wake up in hysterics. My heart would race and BP go up, then the Toprol would kick in and I'd end up crashing.

is there any cold meds that are safe to take to get some releife from coughing at night? Im on Toprol and Im not sure whats safe to take with that.

They gave me lopressor 25mg and a 1000cc of NACL. They sent me home with instructions no caffeine and take toprol. I have never smoked and do not drink. I do have the normal stressors with being a RN, wife and mother of two but other than that nothing. What could be causing these problems? The Dr cannot find anything but do see the high B/P and palpatations.

Yes, I know that Toprol XL is the brand name extended release version of metoprolol. However, there is a generic equivalent called metoprolol er, which I assume his doctor gave him. I have read many posts on this forum where users indicate that switching from Toprol XL to metoprolol er still report having problems. The generics are not always as good as the brand name ones.

I started on Toprol in December and they got more frequent. The dosage was raised in February. They became a little less intense throughout the month and finally almost completely disappeared a few weeks ago. I knew better to celebrate and I was right. THEY'RE BACK!!! Ugh is all I can say. I had stopped the caffeine, hydrated myself and began eating bananas for the potassium.

We then figured out my svt was caffiene induced so I cut out caffiene and my doctor reduced my Toprol to 12.5mg and said I could eventually ween myself off. So I was feeling fine no headaches so I weened myself off and about a month later I am now getting headaches/migraines almost everyday. I was wondering if these headaches are related to my svt and if anyone else has had this problem. I'm so tired of waking up with a nagging headache everyday.

I have taken up to 200 mg of Toprol and had an occasional drink, wine or beer, and had no detected ill effects. I think even two would not be a problem, but I would not recommend doing that on a regular basis. Here I understand that binge drinking could have very bad effects, on Toprol or not. I also believe that a "glass of wine" every night should be acceptable, but I do not do that. I almost never have a second glass either, unless it is over a long period of time, e.g.

I have been on Toprol for 3 years and have put on twenty pounds use to be a runner but I cannot find enogh energy to start back I have tried and tried, I have been through a couple of stress tests with very good results doctor thinks could just be in my "electrical " system he is reluctant to take me off Beta Blockers but I want my old life back, can I ween off Toprol to see what happens? I went to see a Cardiologist and diagnosed me with Tachycardia of 150bpm to 170bpm unknown cause. He put me on Toprol. So far Iv' been feeling ok., but the only side effect I have is that by mid day I feel drowsy.

Dear Di: I have taken toprol xl for about 12 years and have not had a problem with it.. The XL stands for extended life.. it is not all released at once in your system..So I would say the reason you cant take it just when you have a problem is that your body does not get the full effect immediately.. You have to take it and build it up as I understand it.. dunno not a dr...but thats the way Ive always understood it.. basically its a very safe medication to take... hope this helps.. .

I am taking 100 MG of toporol xl, benazapril 10mg, 81mg aspiring, synthroid, and protonix. While in hospital floor doctor asked if I had any pain anywhere which I had mentioned periodically I get a dull pain in chest, which i feel first on the left side of my back, which my doctor had told me to take Aleve when this occurred due to possible pinched nerve, etc.
