Synthroid and magnesium

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and magnesium

synthroid

Avatar f tn Take all of your vitamins, b-complex, and vitamin C as far apart as you can from the Synthroid. Many contain iodine and calcium. I've been told by many sources that your body will absorb your vitamins better if you take them right before you go to bed - they have longer time in your body before you "flush" them out. I take two (count 'em 2!) handfuls of meds, vitamins, etc. in the evening and reserve a special place on my nightstand for my Synthroid in the mornings.
Avatar f tn How much magnesium? I just started synthroid and I am "bound" to it with severe constipation. I hate the stuff and I decided to skip it today as I read from the RX that it has a 7 day shelf life. I have been taking 50mcg for two weeks, and thinking of cutting it in half. I am at wits end, drinking almost a gallon of water each day. As I type I am drinking hot lemon water. This is no way to live. I work and can't deal with this! Please help!!!

Avatar m tn Aleve's first inactive ingredient is magnesium and magnesium blocks the absorption of synthroid. So why isn't alleve on the interaction list with Synthroid?
557907 tn?1215882569 Other meds and vitamin/minerals/supplements, particularly calcium and magnesium, should be separated from thyroid meds by about 4 hours, but I know that doesn't fit everyone's schedule. I take my Tirosint (T4), first, then an hour or so later, my T3 med and diuretic. That's between 6 am and 7 am. About mid morning, I take my probiotic, vitamin D, then about noon, I have another dose of T3 med. I take calcium, magnesium, selenium, etc before bed.
Avatar n tn Try to be patient. trust me, I know how hard it is!! Try the magnesium. Seriously. It works! I use Natural Calm. It's a powder and you mix it with a drink. Only make sure you do it 4-6 hours away from when you take your synthroid. It will eat into your synthroid if you take them close together. You may want to talk to your dr. about adding in cytomel if your t3 is low. That sometimes helps too!!!!
988694 tn?1332359479 I remember when I first started treatment I was on Synthroid and Cytomel. I needed a lift and my doctor added just 5 mcg (I was taking 5 mcg already) of Cytomel and I went nuts with the anxiety, palpitations and horrible itching. I had to stop all together and start over with Naturethroid. Since I started with the headaches, 8 months ago, I became constipated and lost lots of weight. How can I be constipated with my frees in the upper range?
Avatar f tn Just prior to menstruation, estrogen levels drop in women and a drop in estrogen may decrease magnesium levels. One study found that cell magnesium level were significantly lower patients with premenstrual symptoms than in controls. Heart palpitations is one of the many possible symptoms of low magnesium. Maybe try taking magnesium supplements next month to see if you see an improvement.
Avatar n tn I had my thyroid removed on october 24th and have been on synthroid 75 mcg since. i have been having cramps in my calves like charlie horse pain for the past week . Does this mean that i may need a higher dose of synthroid. I just went and had my first lab work done since my surgery this past week. I have noticed that I have gained some weight since the surgery.
Avatar f tn I still have PVCs and probably always will but other than that I am fine. Also, I cant take synthroid, it makes my PVCs worse, I tolerate the Levothyroxin much better.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Synthroid every morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of Evian water. I noticed this morning that Evian water contains Calcium and Magnesium at a rate of 4% and 6% per 500ml. Do you think that because the water has Calcium and Magnesium it would affect the absorption of the Synthroid?
Avatar n tn Some of our members have found that taking magnesium, and some Vitamin C along with it, has helped with joint stiffness/pain. If you decide to try supplementing with magnesium, for best results I recommend types other than magnesium oxide. When new test results are available, please post results and their ranges so that members can help interpret and advise further.
Avatar n tn Is there any relationship between thyroid disease treated with synthroid and onset of svt?
769702 tn?1236117192 I forgot to add that I feel yucky all the time; no energy, with a headache, racing heart, blurry vision, etc, Could this be caused from too much synthoid or is it something else? (I take magnesium supplements with my calcium). I also have pain/aches all over my body, particularly my hip, shoulder and arms that just wasn't there before and i had lost 45 pounds and have put 10 back on and still eating the same and exercising the same or more - help?
Avatar n tn Furthermore, in the past couple of weeks, I have felt sharp pain in my right shoulder and on the right side of my head, and I have felt some pain in my lower back and in the kidney area. In December 2020, I had some kidney-related blood tests. Even though my BUN was 25 (normal range = 6 - 20), the doctor said that my kidney function was normal. Given all of this arthritis (neck, chest) and this pain (shoulder, back, etc.
Avatar n tn I went from hyper to hypo. My endocrine had made the mistake of putting me on Tapazole and I became severely hypo. Now to rectify it, I've been on 125 ml of synthroid. I've been on syntroid for a 6 weeks and started noticing excessive hair loss within the past week. I've been tested a week ago and my levels are on the higher side of the normal range. I do feel great, but still losing so much hair. My doctor calls it Telogen effluvium? Is that possible? Or is it the medication?
Avatar n tn The levo caused increased chest pains, lightheadedness, and shortness of breath. So, after a week, I went back to Synthroid. The light-headedness and shortness of breath went away. The chest pains declined, but still occurred from time to time. To find out more about the chest pains, I saw my primary doctor (PCP) in mid-January 2015. He listened to my heart and breathing. The breathing was fine, but my heartbeat was irregular. So, I had an EKG.
Avatar n tn day time i not to bad but waking up in the night feeling weak, muzzy head, and nausea, frightened to take magnesium or certain suppliments for sleep because of interactions, would welcome any good advice.
Avatar f tn I take 30mg of zinc a day and do find the results beneficial - I also take magnesium and thst has been wonderful for me. I have not attemted selenium -- I may -- but I want to know more about it before I try - I think the 100 Zinc is a bit too much no more than 60 I think is better.
Avatar n tn Avoid magnesium oxide. That is pretty useless. I tried it out. I was taking magnesium chelate capsules but that is too effective for me lol (developed kidney failure on low dose - my kidneys are not up to scratch apparently no doubt due to insulin resistance). So I switched to my current magnesium citrate in tablet form and not every day. I take vitamin D3 capsules. Usually 3000 IU a day.
Avatar f tn I take Magnesium daily, probiotic nightly, fiber, and am bloated a lot but was wondering if anyone battles this and is it common even when on medication and balanced according to labs. It didn't change when they accidently overmedicated me either.
10168 tn?1470588977 I really can't think of a place other than an allergy doctor, and even then I am not sure how they would try to do that. Synthroid fillers/binders/dyes include acacia, confectioner’s sugar (contains corn starch), lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, povidone, and talc. Some of the color additives include FD&C Yellow No. 6 (in 25 mcg tablets), FD&C Red No. 40 and FD&C Blue No. 2 (in 75mcg strength), etc.
Avatar n tn Hello- I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism in early November of this past year. I found out I was hypo because I was having trouble getting pregnant...sure enough...after two weeks of being on Synthroid, I got pregnant! We could not believe it after we had been trying for almost a year with no luck! Now the bad news...a few weeks later, I had a miscarraige!!! SOOO HORRIBLE! Now I've been reading online like crazy about synthroid and about being hypothyroid.
