Synthroid and loss of appetite

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and loss of appetite

synthroid

Avatar n tn I am Hypothyroid and currently take 200 mcg of Synthroid. Over the past three months I have lost 30 lbs. Could it be possible that due to the weight loss that my prescription may need to be lowered? I've been having a lot palpitations lately which is usually indicative of too much medication. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I started taking synthroid on May 2 and was suppose to have a period around the 19th of May but never did and here it is June 9th. The strange thing is that periodically I feel like I am going to start, (symptoms that I usually get before I do) but I guess I just wish I knew if this was normal or not.
Avatar m tn For instance, it takes careful observation to determine if the med causes loss of appetite, or if any of many other possibilities cause it. You need to discuss with your doctor if you feel side effects. https://www.synthroid.
Avatar f tn So my doctor told me to come off the synthroid, for a couple of days, i did this and developed nausea/loss of appetite/fatigue (only off 3 days) then went back on it for just one day and started with the racing heart/panic again, so told again to stop it and check thyroid in 3-4 weeks. I pushed to have bloodwork done, she only test T4 and TSH, TSH was 2.0 (this is the highest i have ever been, normally closer to 1) and T4 was 1.2.
Avatar m tn Also, I would make an appointment with a nutritionist in order to find a way to get proper nutrition in spite of the lack of appetite. Also, your primary care doctor may be able to help. Here is a list of nutritional shakes: *http://ensure.com/ *http://www.boost.com/ *http://www.nestlenutritionstore.com/departments/weight-management-nutrition/weight-gain-and-maintenance-nutrition/resource-breeze-nutritional-drink The first two are generally easier to obtain.
Avatar n tn About a month ago I had to replace Synthroid with Euthyrox, and I am having symptoms again, like palpitations, loss of appetite and energy. Is this normal? I understand is the same medication (levotiroxine).
Avatar n tn The best way to lose weight is still the old fashioned way, of restricting calories (especially sweets and carbs), and exercise. You can start by cutting out soft drinks, fruit juices, candies, cakes, and strictly limiting breads, pasta, rice. Your optimal foods will be meats, reguarl fat dairy, eggs (all in small portions), small serves of fruits (not too much if you are trying to lose weight - not more than 3 small portions a day), and plenty and unlimited non-starchy veges.
Avatar f tn I also have no appetite and find it very hard to eat most of the time. Nothing enjoyable about eating to me and now being on low-carb b/c of high blood sugar is not helping. Can't drink win b/c I'm on antidepressants. But I am not losing any weight at all. It is actually making me gain weight, which seems unfathomable to me, and I have zero energy. Know that I also should be eating more, but when you don't feel like it it's hard to force the food down.
Avatar m tn Hello, I hear that you are struggling to eat as a result of loss of appetite. This may or may not be related to the medication you are taking. I would recommend sharing this information with the doctor who prescribed these medications for you so that he/she may assess your symptoms and choose the best course of action. Warmly, Dr.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with gynecological problems, high HR and BP, loss of appetite, and terrible sleep. It is overwhelming to sort out all this stuff. Thankfully, two of the gynecological issues have been resolved. hurray! Nuts are one of the things I have found myself able to eat, probably for the reasons you mentioned, Heiferly. I feel full fast so nuts are a good way to get myself to eat without having to eat a large volume of food.

Avatar f tn If im cooking, after sometime i feel like throwing up coz i cant look at the food i was cooking! I miss my appetite. Cant even eat fast. I eat porridge and oatmeal and takes me forever to finish a bowl. Grrrrr. Oh well, anything for our babies.
Avatar f tn Hi I am currently 10w2d pregnant and have no appetite at all and just don't feel like eating? I feel nauseous and try to eat but nothing appeals to me. Any advice?
Avatar f tn At least you are getting back into the habit of it and this may also trigger your appetite to come back to normal. Hope this helps!
569458 tn?1221392419 Yeah everyones different but, everyone seems to have a major loss of appetite. On day 7 I was forcing a little bit of toast, and bland foods down, but everything tasted horrible for about 2 weeks. I lost 15lbs but, it caused me to go to ER b/c my potasssium levels were very low. So they gave me a magnesium IV and a 10 day supply of potassium pills. After that I was eating anything and everything in site....lol.
1084115 tn?1385228589 i am about 6 weeks post treatment, and did 48 weeks of triple. i lost a lot of weight the last 2 months of treatment. early in treatment i began to lose desire for food due to nausea and had to really force that 20gms of fat down with the incivek. somwhere in the middle of treatment i lost the usual hunger sensations and it seemed to get more extreme towards the end. now at six weeks post treatment i am finding my desire for food is increasing.
Avatar f tn t have many cravings... An egg and toast for breakfast, a protein shake for lunch etc... Apples and bananas and nuts for extra fiber and nutrients..
Avatar f tn I hear that loss of appetite isn't an MS symptom. I've had problems with appetite ever since my gall bladder attack a few months ago. While this is causing me to lose weight, it's a little disconcerting - I love food too. The only thing that drives me to eat is a rumbling tummy, and it really has to rumble. When I was taking steroids, I had more appetite, not less, but I'm sure it's different for everyone.
Avatar f tn I personally lived on fruit smoothies and pop tarts and cereal and Popsicles lol. Then in my 2nd and 3rd I got to eating more nutritious meals.
Avatar n tn When you repost this please include any and all labs and values you have currently, what the doctors have said, and what his symptoms are. Yes, unlike doctors we are very interested in symptoms. We believe that is the heart of auto immune and it goes so commonly ignored. I really hope you get some answers soon!
Avatar f tn I went through a stage where I never was really hungry or had much of an appetite.. I'm now 33 weeks and feel like I want to eat all the time... I'm also pregnant with twins. Either way they are going to take what they need from you regardless.
Avatar f tn I know a lot of people that have went through a major move, job loss, or divorce and it has caused them a lot of anxiety symptoms that they can not handle. In my case I have taken Celexa 2 times in the past and after a month or so it helps. I wish I didn't need medication, but without I don't how long I would have lost my appetite and not slept well.
