793305 tn?1493925518 I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!
Avatar n tn http://www.eje-online.org/cgi/content/full/160/4/503 I would think that NOT treating low thyroid hormone or not taking enough Synthroid to get your FT3/FT4 levels in the upper 1/3 of the range, would be worse on kidneys. If you feel you don't like Synthroid, there are other options. Armour, Nature-Throid, Levo. Just remember that not treating low hormones is far worse on the kidneys in the long run.

1148180 tn?1261678976 . I have Grave's Disease, diagnosed in 2001, after years of trying to figure out why I was so sick. I was sent immediately for radiation therapy due to the severity of my disease and my thyroid being so toxic my body started shutting down. Since, 2001, I have been seen by several endocrinologists and internists, and opthalmalogists, treated with every medicine imagineable for a list of problems and ailments that wouldn;t even fit on this page.
Avatar n tn With Hashimoto's, should I take both Synthroid and Cytomel? Some docs prescribe both; others only the synthroid. What does the Cytomel add?
Avatar n tn t take it. I am a sever asthmatic on 8 medications, but I also have Graves disease and had my thyroid killed. Therefore, I take Amour Thyroid. What is the problem with Advair and thyroid disease? My mother and brother who have hypothyroidism are also on Advair.
Avatar m tn The doctors want to do an MRI with dye on my one and only kidney. Being CKD Stage III and my kidney functions are not the best anyway. 33 GFR and 1.6 creatinine. I don't need additional problems such as messing with my thryroid levels. Does anyone have a clue about this dye (metal dye) or having it create problems with the thryoid after having the dye?
Avatar n tn i have a thyroid level of zero, am taking 75 mg of synthroid, and 80000 vitamin d. my skin is turning brown on my neck and arms. what could this be? i have also had kidney trouble (stones, frequent infections for 15 years). what could this be?
Avatar n tn if you need to decrease your synthroid dose does it take some people longer to adjust to to decrease especially if your body is sensitive to meds and you have a chronic disease .
Avatar n tn To: Dr. Lupo Thank you for the reply to my question on the 26th. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and have been searching for an answer to the detection of a nodule 3 years ago. Now I have two. I was diagnosed hypothyroid since the birth of my child and on synthroid for 16 years. High TPO's and the nodule detection have sent me to various "specialists" that have increased my meds for reduction purposes. Questions have gone unanswered.
Avatar f tn I am 22 and have just found out I have kidney disease. I do not want to tell my family, because I know they wouldn't deal with it very well. Is it likely to be easy keeping this from them (I live with them)? I am considering not receiving any treament for now to make extra certain family don't find out.
Avatar n tn Fast forward a few months and I began cutting Synthroid 50 in half and taking half everyday. I also split Toprol 25 in two until I quit that medication. Feeling depressed and tired all the time, I went to the free clinic to see what they could do. The Nurse Practicianer without any hesitation prescribed to me prozac 20 mg. I started taking Prozac everyday and felt some lifting of mood and energy. Then over time I noticed hyperthyroid symptoms building up again.
Avatar f tn i have hashimoto's disease (hypothyroidism) and am on synthroid. This was diagnosed in November. I still have not been able to conceive but who knows if it's from the hypothyroid issues because my #'s are fine now. What is your TSH? If it's super high and synthroid helps then it is possible that is your issue. My #'s were never really very high but i had awful symptoms....
Avatar n tn Though low IGF-1 is associated with low growth hormone, inactive/ineffective forms of GH, and low pituitary function, it may be related to nutritional deficiencies, chronic kidney or liver disease, and with high doses of estrogen. Since cortisol is also low, low pituitary function is a possibility. Since you are gaining weight, anemia, nutritional deficiencies, liver and kidney disease may co-exist. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.

Avatar f tn Hi there, about a month and a half ago I started feeling like something was always under both my ribs and it has been persistently like this and it's really uncomfortable, I'm also always itchy at night and have been feeling really dizzy and lightheaded constantly. I've went to my doctors and they took my bloods and all that came up was that my potassium levels were slightly high.

Avatar f tn Hi recently I had pain on my adominal, usually the pain is on the right upper abdomen and the pain seem to move to lower left and right. I haven't did my kidney function test yet but I already did liver function test and my ALT is 9 U/L does this low ALT indicate that I have kidney issues?
387767 tn?1345872027 Be sure to discuss all recommended vaccines with your veterinarian. A cat with kidney disease or kidney failure should not be vaccinated at all. Long-term feeding of an all-dry-food diet is also suspected as a factor in Chronic Renal Failure. Cats' kidneys are highly efficient and adapted to life in the desert, where they would get most or all of their water from eating their prey.
Avatar f tn Im very sick and cant get anyone to help. Avatar n tn Hello, The symptoms are definitely suggestive of kidney disease. You should get an ultrasound kidneys and kidney function tests done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Obviously, he has severe anemia and no amount of iron will fix this kind. I have never heard of chemotherapy for kidney disease or kidney damage. I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.
Avatar n tn I would encourage both of you to talk with his endocrinologist about looking into possible changes that can bring his a1c levels well down below 7. That truly is his best protection not only against kidney disease, but against other complications. If sugar levels are maintained at near normal levels, damage cannot happen.
Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?
