I have been having lower abdomen problems (burning constantly) for about a year. I have been seeing a Gastroenterologist and have numerous test done and have been diagnosed with GERD and Barretts Esophagus and IBS. I take medication and watch what I eat but nothing helps. I had a CT Scan for these problems and it showed a cystic mass on my ovary so I had to go to my Gyn and had a Pelvic Sonogram. I have read that sometimes Ovarian Cancer can have the same symptoms as these other problems.
She had been dealing with the pain for weeks, the swelling on the other hand was only present for a couple of days. They decided to do a CAT Scan. They found that she had 3 cysts on her ovary, and that the cysts had grown a vein over to her kidney which had developed a blood clot in it. She has been started on blood thinners, and told she has Deep Vein Thrombosis.
Well, now almost a year later she is having all the same symptoms.
Last month I went to the er because of the pain in my side. At the er they told me I had an ovarian cyst on my right ovary. and to followup with the gyno. I went to see the gyno and he was very rude told me that my cyst was only 2.3cm and not big enough to cause pain, and that I needed to see a gastro. I saw the gastro and since I lost my mom this year to colon cancer, he ordered a ct scan.
As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
Lesions are somewhat of a broad term. Your ovary is enlarged because of these cysts or lesions. Did you have a trans vaginal ultrasound? I am assuming you must have, to know you have something on your ovary. 95% of these are benign. Try not to worry. All your symptoms can be simply from the cysts. I would imagine you will have blood work and further testing. I know it is easy to say, but try not to worry.
I am 28 and recently had some quite severe symptoms that I believed were related to glandular fever. It started with nodes swelling at the back of my ears, then extreme flu like symptoms and ear infections. Then the dizziness began. A feeling of constant 'swimming' and of being light headed. I also felt extremely tired all the time and depressed. My mood swings were uncontrollable and I was told I may have bipolar!!
My friend has ovarian cysts and has had one ovary removed eight mths ago and now the cysts are in her remaining ovary. She is told it has to be removed and on hormone replacement therapy the rest of her life but is told that the hormone therapy will be dangerous for her due to the high risk of blood clots. Is there an alternative therapy she can take or alternative to removal of the ovary or way to just treat the cyst?
I don't think so because the new report didn't mentioned any of that except that some cysts in ovary.... I guess its pcod!!
That really is a good sized cyst.(is that mm or cm?) Have you been having other symptoms? Some ovarian cysts can grow quite large... I'm sure some of the ladies will post that have had some large ones. Having a cyst does not indicate cancer -even large ones.
What has your Dr. advised? I would imagine they would be thinking of surgical removal.. There is a link at the top right of this page "Health Pages". Try to check this out. . good information on cysts .
s - they were thinking IBS when I have no symptoms of it. Abdominal ultrasound came back normal. I then pushed for a pelvic ultrasound and just had it done at the lab on Fri. They found a simple cyst on 1 ovary and a septated cyst on the other. I had a C-section 17 months ago and a history of endometriosis. I am 34. I read somewhere something about a c section possibly releasing any secluded endo into the abdomen.
I’m 50 years old, perimenopausal (continue to have regular, but very light periods), and have a 4 cm dermoid cyst on my left ovary. My doctor has given me the option of watching and waiting or having it removed laproscopically. She suggested that if I choose to have it removed, I have the ovary removed also due to my age. The cyst was discovered while trying to determine the cause of abdominal pain that turned out to be a ruptured cyst on the right ovary.
im 35 yrs old and 3 days ago, i was told by my GYN that i have a 2cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary......she said we have to wait for a month or two to have it check again as it is still small.....but my worry is that i'm having constant pain everyday......sometimes it gets severe.....my gyn only give me ibuprofen to take.does this causes severe pain????or im the only one? i might go for a second opinion esp with the pain i;m experiencing.

as opposed to cysts only hurt during certain times of month? My gyno. says not to worry about my ovarian cyst on my remaining left ovary that she thinks is NOT a chocolate cyst, though the u/s tech (who has been a u/s tech for 15 yrs. and showed me the cyst and other funtional clear cysts-you could see the difference easily! and I have had a choc. cyst before that ruptured, needing emergency surgery-2 pints of blood ended up in my abdomen). The ER Dr. also concurred it is a choc.
