1081864 tn?1257519948 Another good medication is Spironolactone--this must be used with the birth control pill (it can cause birth defects) and works by blocking the action of testosterone. This combination of medications will get rid of most of your symptoms ( irregular periods, hair growth, acne, ovarian cysts). But obviously are not going to help you get pregnant if you are going for a girl! You might want to see a good endocrinologist in addition to your gynecologist. Good luck!
Avatar n tn s you are on are not helping decrease your symptoms... it reminds me of doctors who put menopausal women on Anti-depressants to help with symptoms... WHAT's that all about. There are better ways to tackle these problems. If you are using the BCP's for contraception, then that's another issue. But, it sounds as if your hormones are in dire need of balancing. Do some google searches such as "Bioidentical hormones and perimenopause" ...
Avatar m tn It remains at rock bottom or not even measurable BELOW range. I have done some research of the top 10 symptoms of low T in women and she has about 7 or 8 of the ten symptoms. THat being said, many of these symptoms are also parallel low Thyroid which we know she has and is being treated for. However have any other women out there been diagnosed ith Low T? If so have you been treated? what worked? How did you find a Dr to treat you? And how do you feel now?
1418198 tn?1483277496 Ah. Okies. Well in terms of what is high or low, it also depends on when it was taken. Women have different levels in their bodies at different times, and there's a wide range of what's high/low and normal.
Avatar f tn If you have low cortisol levels that needs to be resolved before even starting on thyroid med. Most likely you will need to start on hydrocortisone several times a day, along with DHEA-S, to counter any unwanted side effects from the cortisol. Being low in cortisol, you probably should also request to be tested for other hormones, like progesterone, estradiol, and free testosterone.

Avatar f tn hi there thanks for the reply., Yes, the estogen is low.. Apparently diff docs look for diff levels,,, mine said 20-80 but is in line with that you said.. As I understand, at times you do want low estrogen, but I don't think you want it quite as low as mine. I dont' know if mine is a perimenopausal # or what, all I was told women my age (I am 45 have this kind of level) I think I need to talk to a diff doc who can be way more specific, I was left feeling like.. what does all this mean...
Avatar m tn FSH enter the blood circulation and stimulates the ovary to release Estradiol (E2) So this pathway explains at least in part the low Estradiol, but the interesting observation is the continuous feedback loop- at the end of this pathway where Estradiol turns off the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone when it reaches the hypothalamus, in order to start the Estradiol release cycle all over again!
1575743 tn?1296055983 could taking estradiol 1mg tab for about a week or two help increase my chances of getting pregnant? due to the fact that i have PCOS and have trouble getting pregnant anyway.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms may be due, at least in part, from not having enough estrogen. Women also lose about 50% of their testosterone when their ovaries are removed. Unfortunately, doctors fail to divulge this important information before surgery! 1mg of estrogen taken orally is a fairly low dose for a woman without ovaries. And some women do not absorb oral estrogen very well. Has your doctor ever checked your blood level of estrogen or estradiol?
Avatar f tn Because of their extreme intraindividual variability, FSH and estradiol levels are imperfect diagnostic indicators of perimenopause in menstruating women. However, a low FSH in the early follicular phase (days 2–5) of the menstrual cycle is inconsistent with a diagnosis of perimenopause.
Avatar f tn They are ranging between every 25 to 31 days(but I still get them and the traditional PMS symptoms. Out of concern for my age/fertility and the fact that I have not got PG and that my periods are a little wacky, I went to my gyn and she did the day 3 bloodwork. These were the results: ESTRADIOL 17 BETA SER <32 - pg/mL FSH 6.8 - mIU/mL LH 2.7 - mIU/mL PROLACTIN 17.6 - ng/mL TSH 2.
1627897 tn?1303253673 Am in day 6 on meds went for a sono today my estradiol was 150 and I only have I follicle growing in the left ovary and 3 small one on the right pleasehelp anyone have an answer am really stressing out.I just hope my cycle not cancel .
Avatar n tn After feeling great for 1 day, the effects disappeared and I am back to the same drained and low-energy shell of a human. (I had this same experience when I was 33 when originally diagnosed with Low-T: felt great for a day and then I felt terrible again, which is why I originally stopped treatment). So my Endo increased the dosage to 10mg, and still no change in energy or mood.
Avatar f tn Can the birth control be causing the very low numbers, my PCOS, something else? The numbers are those of someone in menopause, so it is a bit concerning. Any insight is appreciated!
Avatar f tn I want enough estradiol in me to make sure I can string a sentence together, avoid depression, have a sex drive, have better word retrival, have strong bones, less moodiness, have good heart function, no cramping in legs (the worst when I am low in my estradiol)... no foot problems (yes... when estradiol was too low for a few years...bad doc's advice... yuk,... I ended up having to have surgery on both feet).. no joint pain... I could go on and on and on.
374593 tn?1257879950 s office right before they trigger me.. this time they said it was a little low, but thats to be expected with the femara (since it blocks estrogen production) Anyone know what that can do if its low? THANKS SO MUCH!
1281181 tn?1271688273 Thinning on top (a specific area common to male hairloss) is not normal hair loss pattern for women even with thyroid issues. Low thyroid can throw other hormones out of whack too. Thyroid hairloss is normally averaged all over the scalp.
Avatar f tn "symptoms" mean nothing... there is nothing that tells you if you are pregnant or not aside from testing. lots of women on here report "classic pregnancy symptoms" and were never pregnant, and many with no symptoms go on to have healthy babies. as far as embryos, yours sound like they were of excellent quality, but science can only do so much. you just have to wait and see if one or more implant and grow. hang in there, the wait absolutely is torture, but you will make it.
589713 tn?1255699571 But she does say in one of her books that a smidgen of progesterone might help some women with sleep issues (again... women without ovaries). She is just appalled at the high doses some women are on...along with LOW, way too low, estradiol. That is what totally messed me up. I am doing so much better now. There is hope. ADVOCATE and Don't give up. Ever. Just a note; I had lunch with a friend ... a forum friend, actually, here in Minneapolis.
Avatar f tn t absorbing it which would imply that your symptoms are from the loss of your ovaries and not the estradiol itself. I am also on estradiol tablets but I don't take mine orally. I either insert them vaginally or let them dissolve between my cheek and gum (transbuccal). And I use a higher dose of 1mg. My Rx is for 2mg but since I don't take them orally / swallow (no first pass through the liver), I cut them in half and only take 1mg. The use of only 1/2 pill makes it dissolve faster too.
621803 tn?1302888341 Hi ladies, I had my first IUI cycle in August, and my Re prescribed estradiol because my levels were low and my lining wasn't thickening. Well, the IUI worked (yay!) and the nurse I talked to said that I was supposed to stay on the estradiol and prometrium until I was 8 weeks. I mentioned that estradiol says it can cause birth defects and to not take it if you become pregnant. She said I was ok because my levels were low to begin with.
Avatar n tn m not sure how old you are and of the exact ranges you have for Estradiol. But here in the UK an estradiol of 23 on day 3 of your cycle shows you are past perimenopause, and either in menopause or post-menopausal. I myself am undergoing a premature early menopause and my estriadiol is the same. Also it would be useful if you could let me know what your FSH was, as this is the main indicator for menopause assessment.
Avatar f tn I really hope it turns out to be an ok cycle with a BFP for you. We are pretty close in stim days. I am on 150 of Bravelle in the am, and then 75 of menopur and 75 of fostimon at night.. . I will keep reading for your updates. . .good luck!
