390388 tn?1279636213 He went so far as to call my cardiologist which I am scheduled to see today anyway and now I have to have the blood test to check for toxicity levels of Digoxin. Not a big deal in the end but it makes one wonder sometimes.
Avatar n tn I meant to say Lasix... instead of Lanoxin... Uggghh too many meds to keep track of!!! Thanks for your reply. I am hoping to get a doctor reply on here also as I would be curious to see what they have to say. I have never heard the figure before that 25% of people with cardiomyopathy get better... how is your friend doing? Again, thanks for taking the time to reply!
Avatar n tn He was then discharged and is now recovering at home. He was taking Lanoxin and diuretics and did not have any swelling or breathlessness. So after 3 months the doctor stopped these medications (without checking the EF). He went for his checkup this month (9 months after surgery) and his echo shows an EF of 40%. The doctor also mentions "Mild LV Dysfunction". So now the doctor has put him back on Lanoxin and diuretics. Is this heart failure where the prognosis is poor?
Avatar n tn The second time I experienced SVT was in 2007, again my Dr gave me Lanoxin. Lanoxin was only prescribed when ever i have SVT. This 2009, I had several SVTs. In Sept 2009, my Dr. suggested to hv my regular ECG, CBC and my first time to undergo a 2D Echo with Doppler. My BP is 90/60. All ok, except for my low rbc ct in CBC. My Dr told me that low rbc cause lack of oxygen that is the reason i had SVT. She prescribed Ferrous Sulfates as source of my iron for blood oxygen.
Avatar n tn Is your uncle taking Lanoxin (heart medication)? Lanoxin has shown to increase the pumping strength. My father had a weak heart beat and after being on Lanoxin for about 10 years now, he's heart beat is strong (very strong per taking his pulse). Ask your uncle's doctor about Lanoxin.
4703993 tn?1379768388 I went to the electrophysiologist a few days ago and he told me that I have tried every conventional method to control the symptoms of POTS and the IST - so basically he was saying that I have not responded to any medication or my medication sensitivity did not allow me to take certain meds without horrible adverse effects...

Avatar n tn He currently takes lasix, aldactone and coumadin. Also, I researched Lanoxin and that sounds like it may be a drug suitable for him. Any advice you may have would be great thanks.
Avatar n tn I have been told over years, I have heart murmur, leaking valve, or not so, but have been on Lanoxin for over 20 years and finally switched to Verapamil as Toprol gave me nightmares or vivid dreams for two months. I recently developed a steady low weakening feeling of pain in my left arm and tingling in left hand and foot as well. I've experience these feelings before and went away, but now it is staying with me for last 3 months.
Avatar f tn The few available resources which list common symptoms for B6 toxicity mention a feeling of pins and needles in hands and feet. There seem to be many other symptoms. Please, list the symptoms that you have.
Avatar f tn My mother is on coreg .325 and docs just took her off of lanoxin hoping that is causing platelet drop, they aren't sure yet. today heart rate at 142 bpm at rest. All this started happening feb 21. before that heart rate around 100. The problem with more coreg or other beta blockers is the fact her bp too low 96 over 50 the majority of the time. I am soo scared for her, lanoxin prevents heart attack yet it could be the cause of very low platelets and she could bleed to death. catch 22.
Avatar n tn Some of the symptoms you note are common with taking Toprol XL, expecially in the beginning. Sounds like it did deliver some of the intended benefits, lower blood pressure, lower HR. I have no idea how the urinary problem relates. What is her dosage? To start I'd expect it to be 50 mg or less.

Avatar n tn i know that my daughters cardiologist at the univ of mich had told us when they put her on lanoxin that the risks of amiodarone in her case made her not a good candidate for it. i do know that many have taken it for short periods and it seemed to help, but i believe it generally not taken long term as lanoxin or digoxin is hope my little bit helps and good luck....... dawn p.s.

Avatar n tn Saw a neurologist, had full MRIs, Echo, and blood work and the only thing that came up was high b6 at almost twice the upper limit. The thing is that most of my symptoms are on the right side of my body, so the neurologist is skeptical about the b6 toxicity diagnosis. The symptoms are: - right foot feels tingly and there is a strange nerve sensation on the outside of my right leg.
Avatar f tn Last October I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy with the ejection fraction of 20% ( I am 63 years young). In December I had a Bi-V ICD inserted. Yesterday I had a MUGA test done and my ejection fraction has increased to 46%. Does this mean that my enlarged heart could be reducing in size or just that the ICD and medication is working? I had a lot of stress before my diagnosis and have not worked since.
329165 tn?1515471990 I am 7 weeks post-op after OHS to repair mitral valve. For the past 7 weeks I have a resting HR of 120+ and low BP (today it was 87/55). At Cardio's appointment Cardio noted this (I thought it is normal post-op to have such a fast HR) and prescribed LANOXIN. I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now and still no improvement in HR and BP. GP did bloodtests and these are the results: TSH: normal CRP: normal range Full blood count: normal range Pro-BNP: 218.
Avatar m tn Hello. I am hoping to hear about others' experiences of discontinuing b6 or other b vitamins - specifically which symptoms you experienced once you stopped. I am experiencing what is probably b6 toxicity, although without major neuropathy, just minor tingling on rare occasions. My major symptom was extreme lethargy and extreme fatigue, a generally high feeling.
Avatar n tn My baby girl is 2 months and 2 weeks old her doctor told me se suffers from VSD muscular 4mm, ASD2 4mm,PHT and he gave her medicine lasix and lanoxin but she became lazy, less active and always sleepy without appetite.
Avatar m tn I've been to an insensitive doctor before re: my P.O.T.S.- I was so upset afterward. He was quite dismissive, telling me to drink gatorade, etc. and no support really offered, so I feel for you. Those low blood pressures you are mentioning sound dangerously low to me- have you gotten a second opinion about that? I had a doctor suggest he would prescribe Lanoxin if I wanted, but didn't take him up on it because of the potential for toxicity and close monitoring it would take.
Avatar f tn Large doses of the vitamin can affect the nerves that carry sensory information to the brain, and tingling is one of the symptoms of sensory neuropathy, as it is called. How large is a large dose? Quite large. Case reports suggest people are affected after taking 2,000 mg a day or more for an extended period (at least several months).

Avatar n tn I have not heard of a B-6 toxicity. I have heard of deficiency symptoms, but never the other. How much had you been taking. You see, B-6, along with other B vitamins is water soluble, and your body excretes what it does not need, so, this is very new to me.
Avatar f tn Levels returned to normal last year but toxicity symptoms are still with me. Diagnosed with ms in Decenber of 2008. Double whammy, since both affect my walking....(did take b6 for 14 years) OUCH!!! Can anyone elaborate on this..
