Avatar f tn so burning sensation during micturition and blood in the urine. It can also be due to dislodgement of the kidney stone in the bladder or urethra. Kidney stones and recurrent UTI’s can lead to Pyelonephritis, Cystitis, Urethritis Glomerulonephritis and Urethral ulceration. Blood in the urine can present in one of two ways: gross hematuria (blood that you can see in the urine), and microscopic hematuria (blood that is only seen when the urine is examined under a microscope).
Avatar n tn Hi, It does seem to me like you are having stones in the kidney. The symptom of pain you have described is very typical of it trying to be expelled from the body. Symptoms of kidney stones include colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as "the worst pain ever experienced." Other symptoms could be blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra. Pyuria: pus in the urine. Dysuria: burning on urination when passing stones.
Avatar n tn Even though I was lucky that it was a relatively small stones, it scraped the urethra in the process of being passed with urination. Since the urethra experiences trauma from this, it will hurt to urinate as urine gets in contact with the scraped urethra. Also the urethra gets somewhat stretched during urination, so you will feel that while the urethra heals. I rememeber pain in the lower right kidney area that radiated down and around.
Avatar f tn When the gland enlarges, it compresses the urethra, partially blocking urine flow. Signs and symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH) include difficulty urinating, an urgent or persistent need to urinate, and either visible or microscopic blood in the urine. Infection of the prostate (prostatitis) can cause the same signs and symptoms. Kidney disease.
Avatar f tn I have a 15 yr. history with kidney stones. I had my most recent attack 3 weeks ago and it was one of the longest enduring of any I've had, with the most severe flank and ureter pain lasting almost 12 hrs. The last couple hours of the horrible pain, I experienced what I would almost call spasms very low down, and I've never had that before in any of the other attacks. I had waves of pain and the urge to urinate every few minutes.
Avatar n tn I am 18 years old, Male, and the sex was 2 years ago, the kidney stones 9 months ago, symptoms starting shortly after the sex I beleive.
18533109 tn?1465640552 Get It but ,Usually, an imaging test and an analysis of urine are done to diagnose stones. Tiny stones may cause no symptoms, but larger stones can cause pain in the area between the ribs and hips in the back. Sometimes stone formation can be prevented by changing the diet or increasing fluid intake.
Avatar f tn I passed 2 kidney stones yesterday. One in the am, one about 6 hours later. I have had 2 previous episodes. The first I went to the ER & they hooked me up to an IV drip & a catheter & I immediately passed the stone! They said it was the size of a grain of sand! I nearly passed out driving myself the one mile to the hospital. Then 1 1/2 years later I had another one. I lay on the living room floor in shock & sure I was going to die & then it too passed.
Avatar f tn Urethral syndrome is a primarily female syndrome in which women suffer from irritative bladder symptoms (urinary frequency, urgency, burning , and a hesitant or slowed urinary stream) in the absence of any objective urologic findings. In this the diagnosis can be made only by the proper collections of urine specimens from both the urethra and the bladder.
Avatar n tn I had a confirmed UTI in mid September. 5 days ago (Sat), I began symptoms again---extreme pain while urinating & difficulty emptying my bladder. Next day (Sun), I go to Urgent Care who takes a urine sample & says I have a UTI, gives me Cipro 500mb BID & sends me home. By Mon morning, the burning is unbearable & I see my gynecologist nurse practitioner. She swabs my vagina & takes another urine sample.
Avatar f tn I now have one that is so large with smaller ones lodged inbetween it that have blocked of my right kidney (seen in a CT scan today). I do not want to go through the crushing again.....what are other procedures? Would like to be prepared before talking to urologist.
Avatar n tn In my case i had 7 to 8 mm stones twice, once on the right side and then on the left side. I passed both stones with the help of just medication through my urethra. I am again feeling some sensation which travels from my kidney on the right side towards the rectum which causes some pressure in my rectum. I have my CT planned in the days to come. I have uric acid problem since years which hovers atound 7 to 8.
Avatar n tn This morning, he went to a urologist, and he has passed the stone. Apparently, he has a parasite....two, in fact....one in his urethra and one in his kidney. Waiting on tests to see what kind, but this dr seems confident that they can be killed and "passed naturally". Now, its just a matter of determining how extensive the damage to his kidney is. This dr thinks they have been there for years, and for some reason this episode of kidney stones quote "freaked them out".
Avatar m tn I would love to hear from the experience of users in this forum if do the symptoms of chlamydia/gonorrhea ever clear out on its own w/o treatment, if not, then it is safe to say i don't have it, because my symptoms are slowly disappearing without any antibiotic for treatment of those diseases.
Avatar f tn Hi, The swelling in the right ureter could possibly be due to a stone and maybe you have passed just one of them and there may be others lying within the kidney. I’ll suggest consulting a urologist and getting a CT – IVU (Intravenous urography) done in which a dye is injected into the veins and its excretion is scanned with a CT and if there’s any obstruction in the ureter, it can easily be picked up. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn ultrasound findings can include bladder distention, bilateral kidney and ureteral dilation 4) Ectopic Ureter (abnormal flaps of tissue in the urethra): symptoms include hydronephrosis of the ureter and usually the upper part of the kidney.
Avatar m tn My urologist is now ordering a CAT scan of my kidneys - to get a better picture of the size and location of the kidney stones, he said. A question for me is which came first - my protatitis (enlarged or inflammed prostate), with accompanying sensation or discomfort in my lower abdoment, or my kidney stones.
Avatar n tn If you are getting a spot of blood in your urine stream, you should make an appointment with your doctor and take a morning mid steam urine sample. Blood in the urine is usually a urinary tract infection, or kidney stones. Men should always get checked out if they see blood in the urine as this can also be from a prostate problem. Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids, especially water - 2 litres a day is usually recommended, more if you sweat a lot.
Avatar m tn No other symptoms. Had kidney stones before but nothing else. What can I rule out? What should I get checked for?
Avatar n tn I've passed 9 kidney stones in less than 4 years with one being "caught" in my urethra. But, I must say there is nothing more painful than child birth. (I have a 2 year old) good luck!
Avatar n tn Haematuria can occur due to a large number of conditions like trauma, glomerulonepritis, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, instrumentation of the urethra, kidneystones, stones in the ureter etc. As your symptoms suggest of burning sensation while passing urine, it is more commonly due to urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases. Because kidney and ureter stones are accompanied by pain that goes upto the loin.
Avatar m tn I finally broke down and went to ER. They did a CT scan and stated I have bilateral kidney stones. The MD said they were still in my kidneys and had not started their journey yet. I continue to have sharp stabbing periodic pain in my vagina where urethra is. Is it possible I might have another kideny stone stuck in my urethra. I continue to feel like I have to urinate often and sometimes very little comes out.
Avatar n tn I had a thousand kidney stones last year and they had to be removed through my back. Still, some got stuck in the urethra. If u r unable to pee you should go to the ER.
Avatar m tn stones that small can pass through the urethra usually fine. The pain you are experiencing usually itsn't from the stone itself its usually from renal colic or hydronephrosis or swelling of the kidney/ureter. Its possible they could also be in the bladder.
