Avatar m tn This equates a bit to the old cliché about sex drive in men, being crazy in the teens and less so as we get old. Having higher than normal levels of estrogen though are linked to prostate cancer and heart disease. And they are probably going to want to make sure there is nothing like a tumor in your testes. There's also all those other things like enlarged breast tissue, loss of muscle mass and erectile dysfunction that can happen too if estrogen gets too out of control for a dude.
Avatar n tn Does this mean it could be caused from ovarian cancer or are my labs just out of whack because of estradiol dose being too high??
Avatar f tn Hi, everybody. My name's Kristin. I really, really hope someone here can help me. I'm terrified. I'm twenty-four, but for the last eight months or so, I've been having menopausal symptoms. My doctor had my FSH, LH, progesterone, and estradiol levels tested twice. Here are my results: FSH first test: 6.2 second test: 6.8 LH first test: normal apparently, but I didn't see what exactly it was second test: 7.
Avatar m tn It can be hard at times when it is a specialty that seems to be limited in terms of the number of doctors that are available to do that kind of work and endocrinology is one of those in which there always seems to be more patients than doctors. But if you can, then yes. It's advisable to seek a second opinion from a doctor you feel more comfortable with. It may or may not change the outcome but then you will at least have confidence in your plan of action.
Avatar m tn WeRDead, that's a lot of info, fairly technical, I don't have the Pharmaceutical knowledge offhand to know whether all of this is accurate, but I don't think he'd wanna use Estradiol - that's a female hormone w/ side effects of decreased Testosterone, decreased libido, possible ED, possible breast development in men, and a too-high level of Estradiol can also cause prostate enlargement & other issues, so I'm not sure why you'd be advocating that for ANY man, and e
Avatar n tn Your estradiol level of 45 pg/ml appears well within range. You have an excellent level of total testosterone. Your TSH level of 3.68, though high, is not all that high. Again, TSH alone may not mean much, unless T3 and T4 are also measured. All I find wrong with your readings is the low level of free testo, which I think should have been much higher. But then the testo equations are often so confusing that only experts will be able to give a correct diagnosis of the problem.
Avatar f tn s ranges show a max non-pregnancy and non-menopausal value of estradiol to be 498 pg/mL and estrone 268 pg/mL. Estradiol can exceed 4300 in the first trimester of pregnancy. And post-menopausal levels are less than 54 and less than 65, respectively.
Avatar f tn s a fairly normal level of estradiol pre-menopause. the FSH is elevated but not nearly as high as it might be in menopause. I'm still not yet through to the other side of menopause with estradiol at <10 and my FSH around 90. You are in the age range to have perimeno symptoms. These can fluctuate a LOT. You could all of a sudden begin getting regular periods again, keep having them be spaced out or anything inbetween.
Avatar f tn t absorbing it which would imply that your symptoms are from the loss of your ovaries and not the estradiol itself. I am also on estradiol tablets but I don't take mine orally. I either insert them vaginally or let them dissolve between my cheek and gum (transbuccal). And I use a higher dose of 1mg. My Rx is for 2mg but since I don't take them orally / swallow (no first pass through the liver), I cut them in half and only take 1mg. The use of only 1/2 pill makes it dissolve faster too.
Avatar m tn Can you please tell me a comprehensive list of symptoms come from iron overload? Could a pituitary problem lead to or cause these types of levels? The doctor thought it could be pituitary related or hormone related. I have searched the internet and can only find a few sources, but they list different symptoms. When I was initially tested, I was not taking any supplements, vitamins and I didn't have a diet of any sort.
Avatar m tn “Increased estradiol levels in venous occlusive disorder: a possible functional mechanism of venous leakage”, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF IMPOTENCE RESEARCH, Volume: 17, Issue: 3, Pages: 239-242, Published: MAY-JUN 2005 As I gather, it's mostly hormonal. testosterone-and estradiol-related.
Avatar f tn Having a hard time finding any information on high estradiol levels. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn s happening in my hormone level? Why is is so volutile? Am I in the premenapousal stage? But in my outlook there's no change. Please advice me my GYN is not very concerned. He says there's nothing to worry. But Im really worried.

Avatar f tn Lipitor due to elevated cholesterol- a consequence of thyroid disease. I also take Estradiol 1mg due to a total hysterectomy~ 14lbs of tumors and invasive endometriosis removal. My head hair loss has continued and expanded to legs, arms eyebrows and eyelashes- with increased facial hair. I have new hair growth on my head but the overall hair count continues to decrease as the new growth cannot keep up with the loss. Scalp is visible over my entire head.

Avatar f tn Estradiol is a type of estrogen. Follow up with your healthcare provider who did the test. That's what they're there for. They have a bigger picture of your health history and can help you decide if this is the result that requires further investigation.
216278 tn?1308861082 DHEA-sulfate is a weak androgen (male hormone) produced by the adrenal cortex in both men and women. The adrenal gland is one of the major sources of androgens in women (the other being the ovaries, which produce testosterone).

Avatar m tn ), I realized that I had many of these issues for years, but certainly not all of or even most of the symptoms. I was able to lose weight rapidly (40 lbs in 2.5 months) with a VERY strict diet and exercise plan, but gained most of the weight back within a few months after ending the strict diet and reducing my exercise from 7 days a week to 3. I filled the prescription this morning and took the first pill, but still wonder if a life commitment of medication is worth it.
Avatar f tn Most doctors will consider any increase in E2 a positive sign, but others use a formula of either 100 pg/ml after 4 days of stims, or a doubling in E2 from the level taken on cycle day 3. Estradiol (E2) Surge/hCG day 200 + pg/ml The levels should be 200-600 per mature (18 mm) follicle.
