Avatar n tn I have this same rash on the same part of my body. Your symptoms present exactly the same as mine. I have cat allergies, but have had a cat for the past year with no problems. However, just a few days before I got this rash, we took in another cat. So I'm thinking it could be allergies that cat. However, when I looked up pictures of the rash online, it looked more like irritant contact dermatitis rather than allergic contact dermatitis.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn Sniffles, I think you got that name regarding the allergies eh? First off, if your friend don't mind, make sure the cats can be brushed. You might or might not know this, but it's not the hair that we are allergic to, it's the cat's saliva. They clean themselves with the saliva and then it gets on the hair. So it's not just the cat/s, it's anything the cat licks or gets the hair after it cleans itself on. Brushing the cat before and after visits will help.
Avatar f tn Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
9138366 tn?1410253633 Ya that is not good. Notice how your cat lays by your head if you don't teach him not to go in the crib and keeps going in it when baby is here he is probably going to sleep by the babies head and since cats don't have a sense if boundaries if they get too close to the baby they can suffocate the baby.
Avatar n tn We've had our cat for about 6 months, she's never been outside. We live in a 1 bedroom apt. which means she sleeps in the living room. Our son is about to be born soon, and though we've kept telling ourselves today is the day we kick Toffee out, we just don't have the heart to do it. We've heard cat hair is bad for babies, and thats why we need to get rid of Toffee. Is cat hair really bad, or can Toffee stay? I have no idea what to do with her anymore!
Avatar n tn Yeah just be careful ive also heard stories of cats/kittins laying on babies faces and also their chests and may suffocate them

Avatar n tn Today in revisiting and playing with a couple of cats I developed allergies. When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar f tn As you had skin symptoms after coming in contact with the cat,so allergy to cats cannot be ruled out.In the last trimester of pregnancy, cat allergens cannot pose a direct risk to your baby but it may effect fetal well being by causing allergy symptoms like skin symptoms, hives, itching, respiratory symptoms to life threatening anaphylaxis in the mother. I would suggest that you get rid of the cat as far as possible. If not possible then, use reputable allergy avoidance products throughout your home.
Avatar m tn I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. We've tried vacuuming more and bathing the animals but it being a small town home, living in close quarters, it does not seem to help. Now we are looking at me moving out and starting allergy shots.
Avatar f tn i have so many symptoms of allergies and my entire head is filled with fluid, i can feel it. i hope all this makes sense, as i cannot possible explain everything i am feeling..but sick of air noise in my right ear, and when i move my head it feels like glands swollen and like someone is pulling at the inside of my ears...left ear usually bothers me more then right, although right ear is the ear with air noise, and sometimes it sounds like a watch ticking or keys hitting together..make sense???
681148 tn?1437661591 m about to apply it for a second time on her most irritated place, which is in front of her ear on top of her head. It is already less red looking. I knew getting the inflammation to go down sooner rather than later was going to be more effective than Benadryl cream by itself, since I had already done that before taking kitty to the vet.
541150 tn?1306033843 No problems at all. No allergies. No jealousy. No kitty trying to lay on top of baby in the hopes of trying to be protective of the baby. I guess you all will know once/if I get there. *sigh* Thank you for all the advice. I really appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Personally I wouldnt have any of my pets let near my baby because theyre new to the world and it can cause early on allergies and or asthma. But if you want to try it out, I would just keep an eye on the cats when they get close to baby and do my best to teach them that baby isnt a toy or another animal.
Avatar f tn My 2 1/2 year old male am-staff terrier is allergic to chicken, beef, pork, peanut butter, and aparently something in our water when it is unfiltered.
7639611 tn?1392877261 The symptoms can also be due to cat allergy. Since you have known allergies to pollen, dust mites and pet dander, chances of cat allergy are high. You may have always been allergic but symptoms may not have been very pronounced. Only a skin test (that tests for cat allergy) will rule out for sure whether it is cat allergy or not. If it is cat allergy, then if you do not take anti-allergic pills, the symptoms will resurface time and again.
Avatar m tn t agree with your Vet, even if it is boils......cats and their food allergies show up as skin erruptions of some sort. and to me this is an easy fix if this is whats wrong, easy and cheap...no medictions, just try feeding a new canned food...preferably with NO carbs b/c many cats have allergies to carbs. for a list of carb free canned diets check out the site I gave above...on the right hand side of her column...BEST COMMERCIAL CANNED FOODS.
Avatar f tn How much of a chance will my little girl be allergic to cats? I'm kinda worried because we have a cat (he's family not just a cat) and I don't want her to be allergic, neither my boyfriend and I are allergic, and no one in my family is either.
Avatar f tn I have an inside cat and had no intention of putting him outside. Hes part of the family too. I will try to keep him away from baby as much as i can though.
326352 tn?1310994295 Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help de-allergize a cat instead of getting rid of the cat? Our 3 1/2 yr old will probably fall to pieces if we end up having to give the cat away because her sister is severely allergic to him. To keep this in persective, I'm allergic to cats also, but manage mine fairly well and have grown out of mine, mostly. There are some products for bathing and for spraying around the house.
Avatar f tn This needs a Vet visit and an antibiotic, allergies with cats appear on their skin, like sores and hair loss, not like with us and the symptoms you describe.
