Common Questions and Answers about Symptoms of a deviated septum nostril

deviated-septum

189372 tn?1219833358 Him A lot of your symptoms will be relieved by the surgery. A deviated septum blocks the nasal passages. If they can't drain then you will get headaches, fatigue, psot nasal drip, and most of the other symptoms. Your sinuses can affect so many things in your body. I'm not sure about the anxiety, it could be a result of not getting relief from symptoms and lack of sleep.
Avatar f tn Hey, I did figure out what it was. It was a deviated septum of all things. I couldn't really tell because the other side of my septum hardly had any indent. Hope your appointment goes well.
Avatar f tn is it because my deviated septum is visibly crooked there? (you can see my septum on the inside of my left nostril) and the hole to breathe in is smaller? or is it the allergies/small sinus infection? or could it even be really bad Anxiety making me feel this way? Any response is greatly appreciated. Or if somebody else has had this as well that would be great.
Avatar f tn i was told in a routine exam by ENT dr that i have a deviated septum(left nostril blocked-air comes out but not in!!) and that i have to have surgery to correct it. i can't say i have major issues with it. i sleep fine(hubby says i don't snore) and not with my mouth open like i've heard from other people. i have problems when i have a cold though and when i close my right nostril and try to breath in from my left i can't .
Avatar m tn Also, I know this will sound gross, but I am able to stick one of my fingers all the way up my right nostril, but not my left, not even a quarter of the way up. I am being blocked by the deviation and something on the left side of my nose (not the center where septum is) Please help :( Thank you!
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar n tn What is more, I went to an ENT just weeks ago in 2018, had a CT scan of the sinuses done, and the ENT tells me that the result is that I have a deviated septum, AGAIN, and will need a repeat surgery for that and to shave down the turbinates. This is ridiculous. I cannot have a septoplasty every 10 years, and furthermore, it accomplished nothing and relieved none of my symptoms the first time! I feel like these forums are pretty useless as well.
Avatar m tn I had a bad cold and after two weeks the cold began to go away but the left nostril now has a deviated septum. The nostrils are dry and i get a pain in the nose that I can feel in my front teeth. It feels like a small tooth ache. Went to the dentist and endontist and it is not tooth related.
Avatar m tn ve had chronic nose, mouth and throat problems for over 3 years!! ENT docs cannot find a reason. I do have a deviated septum and spur in my left nostril (not the cause of my other symptoms). Anyway, I can't use nasal sprays as I get nose bleeds. What I found myself in the pharmacy was NeilMed NasoGel. I've been using this and it does help a lot to clear up some of the stuffiness and helps to keep my nasal passages moist.
Avatar n tn They can cause blockage of the nostril and difficulty breathing. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations. Regards.
Avatar f tn Hi, the nasal discharge from one nasal cavity might be because of the unilateral sinusitis / polyps /deviated nasal septum). You have not mentioned whether you are having any allergic problems (sneezing, running nose, and nasal stuffiness). Saline drops can be used as it causes decongestion. If allergy is present you can also include antihistaminics as it reduces the symptoms. Also try taking Mucolytics (like Bromhexine/ Ambroxyl) and steam inhalations. Hope it should improve.
Avatar m tn You may have a mild enough infection in your upper sinuses to not inflict pain on pressure. Sinusitis is common with a deviated septum. The inflammation will cause a lot of your problems. I highly recommend a certified homeopath. They can help you so the problem does not become chronic.
Avatar n tn This has caused me to see my GP and which he referred to a ENT. The ENT doc said I have a severe deviated septum. He said there would need to have surgery for this which I said Ok hopefully thats the issue but I have been experiencing headaches in the back of my head and upper neck while sometimes they show up at the top of my head. The headaches arent severe to the point where I am in pain but I do feel them. I am fearing the worst that it could be cancer or a tumor.
1741877 tn?1315623664 ive had a soar throat on my left side for about 3 4 months now i cant stand it i cant take it no more ive been to the doctors and a ent i had culture swab test it was normal i had a endoscopy when they stuck the camera in my left nostril it wouldnt go and when they stuck in my right nostril they said everything look normal except there was alot of mucus and my throat was inflamed so they told me the cause of my soar throat was that i had a deviated septum and post nasal drip which is causing a i
Avatar m tn The nasal symptoms could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum. A nasal examination can detect problems with the cavity and the septum. For more detailed study a CT scan may be needed. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn which is a 10-20 mins procedure. ........ problem is I already had a sinus surgery just a few months ago... nose can breath a little better now but it still geta stuck on both nose when I sleep and tongue feels like a mummy when I get up....suggestions?
Avatar m tn If you saw the detailed anatomy of all the tiny canals of the ears and nose and eyes, you would be very impressed that we don't have more problems. It sounds like you have a deviated septum, which is more a bony problem than cartilage problem. Deviated septum can cause ear problems. You could try putting a solution of witch hazel and tea tree oil into the ear with an eye dropper for relief. It will clean out the ear.
Avatar f tn In also have had really bad post nasal drip for years and earlier this year in april my dog died and prbably cried more than i have ever before which did not help at all soon after that i started feelin a mild soar throat specially on the left side the pain started becoming stonger and really annoying but i had no other symptoms 2 months in to it i went to the doctors he gave me a culture swab came normal negative for strep so he sent me to a ent the ent made me a endoscopy when he tried stickin
Avatar m tn I've had a consistently mild sore throat for the past 4 weeks, its not unbearable by any means but hurts a bit when I swallow (sometimes), it has been coming and going. I thought it was maybe due to the weather but for the first two weeks I was in Canada and I am currently in the Middle East, yet it persists. There are orange looking bumps on the back, but they don't look like cold sores or ulcers, I have no idea if they have always been there.
Avatar n tn Im pretty sure i dont have a deviated septum because i dont think i have been using long enough or often enough (6 months a couple times a week). But my left septum is inflamed and red and gets sore and bleeds when i use that side. I know everyone is gonna tell me to stop especially that nostril. Please no lectures or advice on kickin the habbit just wonder if anyone else ever experienced this, the outcome, or any insight would be helpful. Thank you...
Avatar f tn I went back to the CT scan radiologist and said does that mean septum is straight as I cant have a deviated septum in 1998 and a central (straight ) septum in 2009. I was told the top Dr at the radiologist (In Australia) will look at the scan and advise me. So does central mean straight? I have had this sinus (icecream type headache) over my eyes and cheeks for about a month now. Sinus tablets and sprays hasnt helped.
Avatar f tn Not only did I get a dorsal hump, I think I have a deviated septum, because my left nostril is a lot easier to breath through than my right nostril, and not only that my left nostril also got much bigger than my right one . I used to love how my nose looked, it was hump-less and my nostrils were even, but now I have ruined that.
Avatar n tn First of all thank you for your service. Your description of symptoms is almost exactly a match to what I've experienced for the past 6 months. Except of course for your peak flows for which I am extremely jealous. Please do not post anything above 600 on this site, I think that's showing off..Just kidding of course!! Get your CT done.
Avatar n tn t this have been noticed before? Would getting my deviated septum fixed relieve any or all of my symptoms? Thank you so much for your time and answers!
