Maybe you could try Symbicort instead of Advair and it will work better for you. Do you use a spacer with all your inhalers? You might need one to make sure the medication is getting into your smaller airways. I would also say exercise because that will help increase your lung function greatly. Besides that make sure you are taking lots of vitamin C, D, B6 and magnesium. Lastly, breathing exercises everyday can help you feel less short of breath.

m on Symbicort, two puffs morning and night, am currently on Prednisone (for the second time in three months) and am taking my Ventolin a LOT during the day on top of all that... I'm just wondering if maybe the old nebuliser would make a difference? Does anybody know about the effectiveness of nebulisers versus inhalers? I have a spacer for my inhaler which I use when it's around haha!

I have had breathing tests that shows my lung capacity is 65%. I just started to take Symbicort. Could the Symbicort be raising my blood pressure, or is it all in my head? When I take my BP a couple of hours after taking Symbicort its high. My Meds are: Crestor 40mg Amlodine 5mg Synthroid .250mcg Lisinopril 40mg twice a day Zolpidem 10mg Metoprolol 50mg one & 1/2 pills twice a day Symbicort 80/4.

2nd and 3rd baby I have been on symbicort high dose with rescue inhaler when needed. Never been told I was high risk because of it tho. She keeps on top of it and always makes sure I have my meds. I'm high risk for multiple other reasons but not my asthma. I have horrible allergies and have been struggling with breathing due to baby & allergies and what not.

I have shortness of breath quite often, along with weakness, grouchy moods, inability to concentrate, trouble remembering things, depression, headaches. I also suffer from real bad allergies. I take meds for depression, high blood pressure, high cholesterol & Diabetes type 2. I also take sleeping pills. I had a persistent cough that would not go away so my regular doctor prescribed Symbicort & Advair Inhalers. Ever since I am inhaling the sprays my cough has stopped.

If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...

In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).

OK my 7 year old has having problems with the space in her mouth. The dentist said we needed to put in a space maintainer and pull out her 4 canine teeth. So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. ve had this floating spacer for about 8 years, with no problems and no cost (insurance paid). omg. thanks for mentioning symbicort. i started symbicort a while ago, and my throat clearing has gotten worse. my doctor has put me on nexium to dry up things, but i stopped taking it - just felt i didnt need it at the time. i may need to go back on the nexium or find out if the omnezaprole will work too.

He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I looked up Symbicort online (WebMd had an excellent write up for example). I know the fast acting inhalers like albuterol can cause temporary increased heart rate (about 10-15 minutes). That's the one I use most often. Next comes the steroids (oral or inhaled) for asthma management. I've used beclomethasone in the past and that's helped. My kids have used prednisone (oral) a few times but I personally avoid that one.

I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.

Inhaled steroid/beta-agonist combos such as Symbicort are considered standard therapy for patients with frequent or severe COPD symptoms. Continue the Symbicort unless your physician tells you to stop using it.

I am a 46 years old triathlete. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was in high school and had a cold and exercised. It wasn't a problem and I only used the inhaler a few times. I have been training for 1/2 ironman triathlon race and went to see an allergy doctor. I found out I am allergic to quite a few trees/bushes etc -- hayfever. While there the doctor tested my air flow a bunch of times. She said I was quite a bit lower than expected, especially for the amount of exercising I do.
