Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort vs asmanex

symbicort

Avatar f tn I have the same problem, pain in the lower chest it seems. I take symbicort and singulair. Does anyone know if this Zithromycin treatment works?
Avatar f tn Alergia made me dry up too much but then it started making me feel odd, so I waited a few days and tried Zertic, that was the same reaction, so I again waited a few days and went back with Cleartin, same reaction. My PC doctor did give me the Singulair since I do have Asthma. He had me try Symbicort but that stuff really made me dry, and so nasty tasting. I can however use just a steroid inhaler along with the Nasonex nose spray, it seemed to work very well for me.
Avatar f tn I just got a cold which is now exacerbating the asthma. Can I use the symbicort that I used to use when I got a cold or should I use the Asmanex that was my controller medication, or something else?
1763947 tn?1334055319 When I went to refill my inhalers the pharmacist said I was taking two inhalers that have steroids in them and that most all people take only 1 of those. I am taking Symbacort,, Asmanex twisthaler and xopenex HFA as a rescue. I am moving soon to FL and have only been in Texas for 10 months. I will see a pulmanary doc when I get to FL but meanwhile has anyone been told this about steroids and or have any suggestions? I see my PCP tomorrow hopefully for the last time before I leave.
Avatar f tn I've been getting sick with a cold just about once a month for the past 6 months. My doctor told me it's because my asthma and allergies are not under control. I was on Advair for a few months, and they switched me to Asmanex because I was still getting frequent coughs. I'm on Zyrtec for allergies. I haven't been to an allergist yet to see what I'm allergic to (have an appointment coming up).
Avatar m tn I heard that symbicort has less long term side effects but after over a year my FEV1 scores haven't improved at all on it
212161 tn?1599427282 Then thats when I switched over to asmanex 220 and then when the heart palpatatioins happend i ended up stopping it and goign to flovent diskus 250 twice a day. That helped but wasnt like the asmanex. So, now im going back to asmanex and im on day 3 without any steroids and my asthma is starting to get annoying. I am also on singulair 10mg.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar n tn I have been using advair and then switched to Asmanex for about a year. The dentist seems to think this was the cause of the extremity of the tooth decay. Could this be the case? I was even rinsing my mouth out after each use of Asmanex. Could it just be because of the lapse in dental care? This discussion is related to Asthma inhalers and dental decay.
Avatar m tn The last two years I experienced chest tightness/breathlessness within a week after going off the asmanex. Since stopping the Asmanex in 5/2009, I have continued chest tightness/breathlessness that manifests 2-3 times a week for 3 hours or more. Since 5/2009, my PEF is usually between 600-650 with FEV1 between 3.20-3.50. At time, I also experience "crackling" of my neck/shoulder bones upon a full inspiration. When I was on the Asmanex, I almost felt like someone was breathing for me.
757137 tn?1347196453 But the pulmonary function test has small curve which can indicate some pulmonary fibrosis, according to him because i told my mother develop pulmonary fibrosis at age 83. I m 59. Anyway, the symbicort and asmanex makes me very sick , I m not taking nothing right now. I went last friday for my second visit to the specialist and he is sending me all the test again, because he can heard crakling on both of my lungs. My ct scan will be next Jan 15 and i havent got the rest of the test.

959034 tn?1253671476 My doctor is letting me choose between flovent and qvar to take with my Symbicort. Which works better? I'm still trying to get off prednisone.
Avatar m tn I have had breathing tests that shows my lung capacity is 65%. I just started to take Symbicort. Could the Symbicort be raising my blood pressure, or is it all in my head? When I take my BP a couple of hours after taking Symbicort its high. My Meds are: Crestor 40mg Amlodine 5mg Synthroid .250mcg Lisinopril 40mg twice a day Zolpidem 10mg Metoprolol 50mg one & 1/2 pills twice a day Symbicort 80/4.

Avatar n tn Hello! I'm a newbie and need some guidance. Some background-- 35yo female, fairly active, ex-smoker (day #9!!!). I had smoked for 10 years no more than 1 pack a day for about 5 years, the rest was 1/2 pack or less a day--menthols. I am also a part time horse-shoer (farrier) which is an extremely physically demanding job. Last fall I had trouble breathing while working on some client horses. SEVERE sweating-- I mean drenched!! Couldn't catch my breath and heart rate skyrocketed.
959034 tn?1253671476 m allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting. I'm working on this issue yet with my specialist. I will let you know what solution she comes up with...
Avatar n tn Advair isn't the only medication that treats asthma. I was on it for a few months, but I went off because it wasn't working (I could breathe okay, but was still getting frequent coughs), so my doctor switched me to asmanex. I'm still breathing fine, but also getting sick frequently, so another person at the same doctor's office told me to go back on Advair.

1987536 tn?1337916244 I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow. Now, I feel like a terrible mommy but at the same time I know my angel needs my lungs to be strong...I feel like i should?stop taking them all but am already 18 weeks...wouldn't the effects of the advair be there already if any?
Avatar f tn I have been taking symbicort for about 8 months and in that time i notice that my weight has gone up by around 1 stone (14llbs), i have never been overweight and have always eaten healthily and taken exercise. No matther how many times i go to the gym or how much salad i eat it wont go away. None of my clothes fit me and i have gone up a bra size or two.
1098963 tn?1257865718 My significant other is taking Symbicort 160/4.5. I have been told that the steroid in symbicort can be transmitted into my system through any exchange of "bodily fluids" and possibly have a bad reaction with my HBP meds...is this true? thankyou!
Avatar f tn I was tested for allergies 10 years ago, and the tests showed allergies to dust mites. I controlled it through environment. The symptoms I was having at the time (sneezing uncontrollably for hours in the mornings) went away, so I figured I outgrew them. Around the same time I had stomach problems and was diagnosed with acid reflux. I took meds for several years and then went off when the symptoms went away.
1491252 tn?1297450771 Hi Laura, It sounds like you need a controller medication in addition to the rescue inhaler (albuterol) - something like Advair, Symbicort, or Dulera to start with. Once you establish good control you can try reducing meds to just an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) like Asmanex, Alvesco, Pulmacort... Also, are you doing anything to treat allergies? The first and most important component of asthma control is trigger control.
