Symbicort vs advair for copd

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort vs advair for copd

symbicort

Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with early copd. Since I do not have health insurance, i go to a clinic. The physician's assistant has prescribed singular for my copd, I don't feel that it is helping me very much. I mostly have shortness of breath & coughing in the evening. This disease frightens me because I don't feel I am getting the right medical advice. I asked about simbicor & spiriva and was told that those meds are for later stages of copd.

Avatar m tn then Medicare stopped paying for it, they gave me this for some odd reason I wont take it..i am copd..I been using rescue inhaler and nebulizer.. both these been on most my life.. are these meds close to the same?? I've got it right here..
Avatar f tn I would like to know whether I should use the inhalers they gave me (spiriva and seretide) for my condition, COPD, irrespective of whether I get some relief from them. Can they slow down the lung deterioration process? Should I really go on inhaling for ever?... in other words, if these medicines are only - or mostly - intended to make me feel better (which they don't), can I stop taking them? I perceive them as a nuisance and the result of a pharmaceutically oriented approach.
Avatar f tn DO I ALSO NEED TO BE TAKING SYMBICORT OR ADVAIR? WHAT CAN I DO TO TRY TO MANAGE MY COPD BESIDES QUIT SMOKING WHICH I HAVE CUT DOWN TO A HALF A PACK A DAY. WHICH IS ALL THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH NOW. WHAT CAN I BE DOING TO BETTER CONTROL MY BREATHING WITH WHAT I HAVE ON HAND?
Avatar n tn Common COPD inhalers that contain steroids are Advair, Symbicort, Breo and Dulera.
Avatar n tn i got what was dianosed by my doctor as trush so he took me off of advair and kept me on the predisone and gave me a precription for yeast infectioon.i finished the precription.and low and behold the white cotton like mucus is back in fhe timeull force. i'm really sick of being sick all the time my heart rate is 104 my age is 68. i might add i'm sweaty all time.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I would go to natural anti-inflammatories and get off the Symbicort. I got off steroids because they worsened my condition and gave me adrenal fatigue to boot. The prednisone is even worse than the inhaled steroids. You should not be suffering such exhaustion given your FEV1 which suggests only mild COPD. You might want to check your adrenals (saliva and 24 hr. urine). I suspect the beginnings of adrenal fatigue.
Avatar n tn Serevent and meds like it are long acting beta2 agonists (long acting broncho dilaters). They are standard treatment for COPD and perfectly safe for that disease. The problem comes in when they are used long term for asthma, and them mainly when no inhaled steroid is used. The only people who have had a problem with these meds are asthmatics. It is not clear exactly what the problem is, but some believe that it is inappropriate use of the medication - ie using it as a rescue inhaler.
335728 tn?1331414412 How the heck was I to know that this drug can cause LEG CRAMPS!!! She said that I have COPD and that this Advair is what is used to control COPD! When I was finally referred to the Lung Specialist 7 MONTHS LATER and the Lung Specialist diagnosed me with Asthma, not COPD, he immediately took me off of the Advair and put me on Spireva and Symbicort and Ventolin (as required). Of course when I went to the lung dr.
757137 tn?1347196453 I developed serious side effects (severe bronchitis and choking) using Advair 250/50. (I had been using Advair for several years.) I started skipping the occasional dosage, then I skipped a couple of days. I tried taking it one more time and had a serious choking episode. So I stopped using it altogether. Will I suffer withdrawal, and what form will it take?
1987536 tn?1337916244 He actually switched me from advair to symbicort, and from albuterol to xopenex. 24 weeks now and my little girl is doing just fine. They do need us to give them oxygen, so take your meds if you need to.
5037123 tn?1362663006 One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar n tn i wish i looked for info about advair on the internet before i started using it. it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse.
Avatar n tn Having been on Advair for one year, I now have "frogs" in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem? Thank you.
Avatar f tn one of the sideeffects is hoaresness and you can lose your voice. I've been using Advair for a week and a half and I do have to clear my throat more than normal but haven't had any problems with losing my voice.
Avatar f tn That is why it is important to first exhaust all of your other options. I really like Symbicort, it is less risky to the body then Advair and works very well for asthma. I'm also a big mucous producer and it does cut down the amount that my lungs produce on a regular basis. Right now I"m on the equivalent of Symbicort 400 (which is pulmicort 400ug combined with a long acting bronchodilator Oxeze 12ug. ).
5247698 tn?1374540260 I have both asthma and COPD. My doctor took me off Advair because she said that the little bit of steroid in the Advair conflicts with the TX. My pulmonologist put me on Pulmicort and another liquid that I breath through a nebulizer twice daily. This does not help me any but I still keep doing it hoping that it soon kicks in.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are medicines for COPD, but please do not start with prednisone or inhaled steroids. The side effects can be dreadful. I had to get off them because they were killing me, literally. Advair is the wrost because it also contains salmeterol. There are albuterol inhalers which help a lot. Albuterol can also be used in a nebulizer and there are very small portable ones that fit into your purse. You appear to have chronic bronchitis. The very best treatment for this symptom is Vitamin B5.
Avatar m tn thanks, will send you my latest CT of sinus, Eco,PFT test, after three antibiotics now doctor advised for AVELOX 400 mg for 14 days, should I start this or wait to see ENT and Cradiologist? Last days complete blood work and urine was done, will place to you.
