Avatar f tn I started a new Job in October and ever since then I have had difficulty breathing and some days I lose my voice almost totally. I have been in and out of the Dr and now using Symbicort and taking prednisone. It is wierd this only happens during the week while I am at work. Weekends seen to be fine after a little time away. Is this Asthma or am I alergice to my workplace? Should I test the air quality?
Avatar m tn I have had breathing tests that shows my lung capacity is 65%. I just started to take Symbicort. Could the Symbicort be raising my blood pressure, or is it all in my head? When I take my BP a couple of hours after taking Symbicort its high. My Meds are: Crestor 40mg Amlodine 5mg Synthroid .250mcg Lisinopril 40mg twice a day Zolpidem 10mg Metoprolol 50mg one & 1/2 pills twice a day Symbicort 80/4.
Avatar f tn I have been on Advair, then symbicort, and now dulera and keep losing my voice to the point of not being able to sing at all. I am a singer and a teacher and really need my voice, but I also need to be able to breathe! I get plenty of sleep, drink water, and don't abuse my voice by yelling or pushing it too much. I also rinse and gargle thoroughly after taking my inhalers. I miss singing and really need my voice. So frustrated and don't know what else to do! Any advice??
Avatar f tn Hi, transient loss of voice and hoarse voice are the typical symptoms of laryngitis. It is inflammation of the larynx (voice box). It is mainly caused by virus and treatment depends on type of virus affected. Even serological tests will help to identify the responsible pathogens. It can be treated with appropriate anti viral.
1294748 tn?1350611401 Since you smoke weed from time to time, and it makes your voice sound a little raspy as you do it, you could stop smoking altogether for a few days and see if your everyday voice clears up.
Avatar n tn I am a diabetic on oral meds. Some months ago I started taking Symbicort inhaler for asthma. Since then my blood sugar is soaring. What can I do.
Avatar m tn I had a sore throat for 2 weeks, now my voice is very weak, only whisper, and some flem at back of throat at times. If i talk normal cracky and difficult for 2 weeks now.Sometimes i feel inhaler is causing my voice problems or both? i seem to have had this voice problem, but much less for years but not this bad, especially when i could feel sinus dripping down back of throat.
Avatar f tn Advair Discus is a dry powder medication. It has large particles of powder that land on the vocal cords and irritate them. While inhaled steroids can cause this problem on there own, I have found the the dry powder medications are much worse for this. As a fellow singer, I recommend that you try the HFA version of Advair or Symbicort. Symbicort tends to be a little cheaper. It works great for most people, but I didn't metabolize it well at all and nose dived on it.
558632 tn?1303471125 I've just recently been sent to a pulmonologist who had prescribed Brie that cause a terrible hoarseness to my voice. Then he switched my to Symbicort and it is doing the same thing. I rinse well and don't have any soreness just this awful voice. Since both are so new to me I'm not sure I want to continue. I have not noticed any change in breathing. I rinse really well & so far no trush or soreness. Just Puzz;led at the sound. Glad I am not a singer.
Avatar f tn Asthma dr who changed my nebulizer meds.I sounded like I was taking helium in. My voice was high pitched if I had a voice at all. Went to pulmonologist who said it was in my vocal cords and that I needed to see a ENT. 10/2 back tp ER. Was admitted again.Saw ENT, flexible scope up my nose foind vocal cords, larynx and cartlidge in my throat were swollen and airway was comprised.iv steroids, flovent 220 and breathing treatments. The ENT said GERD.
Avatar m tn About 4 weeks ago I noticed a change in my voice. It's not so much hoarseness, but almost nasally sounding. At first, I thought it might be a sinus infection (although I've never had any sinus problems). I did feel sick at one point with a clogged head and general weakness, but those symptoms went away. I can't really tell where it's coming from and now I'm not even sure if the change is nasal or just different.
Avatar n tn I also see a rheumotologist for UCTD and am on Placquenil and prednisone (5 mg or less QD during flares.) Was put on Spiriva and Symbicort. Had to stop Spiriva due to intolerable cholinergic effects. Am fine so far with just the Symbicort. Talked with Rheumy about value of CT scan and if it would change any of the treatments. He felt no. To me is just seems like a very expensive test and wouldn't really change anything. I don't have any clinical signs at this time of PH.
Avatar f tn I started coughing and then my voice was gone. They found mold behind our bathtub and they covered it up instead of getting rid of it. I went to an allergist, voice specialist, and ENT. I did not test positive for anything major – just dust mites. I was started on antibiotics and oral steroids for chronic sinus infection. The ENT almost didn’t believe that I hadn’t had surgery on my nose before because there was so much scarring on the inside, but no, I hadn’t had any surgeries.

959034 tn?1253671476 m allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting. I'm working on this issue yet with my specialist. I will let you know what solution she comes up with...
Avatar n tn Ask for a complete thyroid workup with labs, antibodies, and an ultrasound or CT scan of your thyroid area. A sudden change in your voice could be your thyroid (or a thyroid nodule) compressing your vocal chords but they need to do more studies. Also, menopause affects thyroid hormones too (estrogen and thyroid hormones are closely related) so they need to check your thyroid levels.
Avatar f tn I am a 43 women with and I sudden change in my speech. My voice has gotten slightly deeper at times and my speech is significantly slurred now. I went to see my dentist because I thought it had something to do with the gaps in the lower part of my teeth that I have had sense I've had teeth. My dentist said she thought it was a hormonal change. I also noticed that my tongue is very sensitive to my teeth now. I do have other Peri-menapause symptoms but these, if they are that are extreme.
Avatar f tn I have been taking symbicort for about 8 months and in that time i notice that my weight has gone up by around 1 stone (14llbs), i have never been overweight and have always eaten healthily and taken exercise. 1098963 tn?1257865718 My significant other is taking Symbicort 160/4.5. I have been told that the steroid in symbicort can be transmitted into my system through any exchange of "bodily fluids" and possibly have a bad reaction with my HBP meds...is this true? thankyou!
Avatar f tn After my diagnosis with COPD my doctor had given me a sample of Symbicort. I took one dose of it and told him no more of that. I spent a night feeling like I might possibly crawl right out of my skin. Then he put me on Spiriva and I had no problem. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't this Dexamethasone have some of the same ingredients as Symbicort -- namely steroids?
Avatar m tn Hello ! I am a 22yr old guy. My voice right now is like a kid's voice with some hoarseness. It changed slowly when I was taking medication prescribed by doctor - Azithromycin . I had continued this for a few months, but it has been more than 4 years but my voice is still very weird. Is there any way I can get my normal voice back, like it is supposed to be. Or atleast make it sound more grown-up like ? Thank you for your time !

Avatar n tn I have wet macular degeneration as well as COPD and my ophthamalogist theorizes that the weird "blisters" that are appearing at the site of the oozing veins may be caused by the steroid content of my asthma medication ( namely Spiriva). So he has asked me to change to something that doesn't contain any steroids. My pulmonologist has suggested I add floridil to my albuterol nebulizer.
Avatar f tn My voice never changed after that but after 5 months I suddenly got hoarse voice. The doctor gave me some medicines to take but my voice did not back to normal. I can't sing the songs that I've sing before. It's too high for me. It's been 1 week now since I have this problem. Is this something to do with the operation or not? Please give me some advice. I really need to have my voice back.
