symbicort

5037123 tn?1362663006 One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old male with a somewhat mild case of asthma, and I take symbicort and albutoral as medication. I hate it. I recently developed some PVCs (heart palpatations), and I would really like to use a long term asthma controller in place of the symbicort that does not have increased heart rate as a side effect. Are there any somewhat effective asthma medications (long term controller, not rescue inhaler) that do not have increased heart rate as one of the side effects?
Avatar n tn pkw=symbicort According to this, while it apparently is not one of the most common side effects, it IS a side effect that requires immediate attention, so please contact your doctor right away. I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn ive just been doing some research on singulair also and it seems like people are having alot of serious side effects including suicide. are there any drugs to help asthma that dont have these crazy side effects. i mean other than albuteral. it seems like advair is making alot of peoples asthma worse and singulair has a whole list of crazy side effects like people acting aggresive, suicide, cant sleep, nightmares, depression.
Avatar m tn ve never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines. If you're concerned about how high your blood pressure gets after taking Symbicort, I'd talk to your doctor.
718416 tn?1259680550 I looked up Symbicort online (WebMd had an excellent write up for example). I know the fast acting inhalers like albuterol can cause temporary increased heart rate (about 10-15 minutes). That's the one I use most often. Next comes the steroids (oral or inhaled) for asthma management. I've used beclomethasone in the past and that's helped. My kids have used prednisone (oral) a few times but I personally avoid that one.
Avatar f tn It takes care of all of my chronic asthma conditions and I use an emergency inhaler for when I have a trigger that causes an attack. Check your side effects. I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her. My mother in law is on it and loves it.
757137 tn?1347196453 Oh, what sort of side effects do you get from asthma inhalers? Personally I find that they don't bother me at all. I'm currently using Symbicort 400ug x 4puffs/day along with oxeze 12ug x 3puffs/day (long acting bronchodilator). They work well in controlling my asthma symptoms. The only symptom that doesn't go away is a chronic cough due to excess lung mucous. The long lasting bronchodilator should only be used together with a steroid inhaler.
209987 tn?1451935465 Both are accepted good medications for asthma control. Both have similar side effects. Comparing the compositions of the drugs is a meaningless exercise, nor is a statistical tabulation comparing and contrasting user populations.
Avatar f tn I have taken prednisone many other times, with no adverse side effects. I went to the doctor yesterday with the following symptomps; even though I knew that I was getting enough air, I felt that I could not get a good breath and my throat felt very tight and jaw just clenched open while I was gasping for breath. I also felt very anxious. I never experienced this before. Boy it was scary.
Avatar f tn t want to stay in steroid all my life. It is already giving me side effects. Please can you respond?. Sorry for my English, it is my second language.
Avatar n tn You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose. Along these same lines, unless your doctor is absolutely certain that you have persistent asthma, you might be able to get by without an ICS. You should, without fail, always use a spacer with the inhaler and rinse your mouth and gargle after each treatment.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been prescribed prednisone to help keep my asthma under control twice in the past three months. I've noticed there are a lot of bad side effects (as there is with any drug I suppose) and I know most of them are from long-term use and ten days isn't really long term use, but they still worry me! I'm on a preventer (symbicort), two puffs morning and night. But I still find I'm using my Ventolin at least 5 times a day (bad, I know!!
Avatar m tn Also she had me on xopenex and symbicort which made my heart race like crazy. she also told me those inhalers had no side effects. And I am currently looking for a new PCP. Please help thank you.
Avatar m tn I heard that symbicort has less long term side effects but after over a year my FEV1 scores haven't improved at all on it
Avatar f tn I have asthma and PTSD from military service. I have been using Albuterol, Symbicort, and Marijuana for 8 years with no problems. Most people who smoke also have anxiety. So take their opinions with a grain of salt. However, I am not a doctor, so ask one for medical advice. I am just giving you my opinion as an everyday person, not as a medical professional trained in medications such as an RN or MD.
Avatar n tn A similar drug, Formoterol (Combined with the inhaled steroid, Budesonide, in the drug Symbicort) while in the same class, might not have the same properties and perhaps might not exhibit the same cardiac stimulatory effect as Serevent. You might want to discuss this with your doctor. Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist).
Avatar f tn My PC doctor did give me the Singulair to try since I do have Asthma. He had me try Symbicort but that stuff really made me dry, and so nasty tasting. I can however use just a steroid inhaler along with the Nasonex nose spray, it seemed to work very well for me. Should I try staying with this or try Singular? I thought I read up on Singular as causing liver issues. What do you think would be the safest way to go? Or the best? I LOVE breathing better !! I will be needing most of this daily.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I had a recent pulmonary function test and my FEV1 level went down to 73% even though I've been on Symbicort/singulair and prednisone 30mg day. I developed asthma after being around 2nd hand smoke for a few months. Does this mean that my lungs will get worse with time? What can I do to improve my lung function? thanks very much!
1425157 tn?1311651679 It is my experience that after about a week on the medicine these side effects subside as your body adjusts to it. I would guess that it is the medication. I was fine on Advair, but had horrible reactions to Symbicort. After the first week the reactions stopped. Take care and feel better. It would be wise for you to read as much about asthma as you can. An informed patient is an empowered patient.
Avatar n tn The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475). I’ve cut back my meds to 220mg flovent twice a day, and albuterol when necessary. 1.

757137 tn?1347196453 If you are still on steroids you can't be cured. As for me, the days are long gone when I could barely walk across a room. But I got off the steroids.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hi! I would definitely not recommend stopping the prednisone early - stopping it too abruptly can cause even more damage to the adrenals than taking it. Prednisone basically takes over the work of your own adrenals, so by tapering it down, it gives your body to start doing its own job again. No, the 120 mg of prednisone daily is NOT safe - it's way too much.
Avatar f tn These help greatly and thee are no side effects. As to diet, be very careful about sweets and too much starch. These cause a proliferation of Candida albicans. Candida worsens asthma and allergies. I almost forgot. If you can find chewable bromelain, use that. Very, very helpful.
Avatar f tn When I have an asthma attack I take 2 sprays of Symbicort now - it does contain Albuterol as one of the ingredients but it has never gotten my heart racing. Good luck!
Avatar f tn how long is it ok to take prednisone 30mg/day for without side effects?
