symbicort oral thrush

My question however is, if I stop taking the Symbicort and the Avamys will the thrush go away, or should I go see my doctor to get anti-fungal stuff (i.e. Nystatin)? I am still on antibiotics for the pneumonia (I have 7 more days to go), and I know that antibiotics can also cause thrush. I'm reasonably sure that it is the Symbicort though, simply because any inhaled steroid I take ends up giving me strep or thrush.

I use Biotene products and they help somewhat. I get mouth ulcers from having a dry mouth and using Symbicort. Maalox/liquid Benadryl eases the pain, but doesn't prevent the mouth ulcers. I also get repeated thrush infections despite brushing and rinsing everytime I use Symbicort. I'm sure it has to do with dry mouth. I hope someone has a good solution, as I haven't found anything useful and I'm getting really, really tired of mouth ulcers and thrush.

I am a diabetic on oral meds. Some months ago I started taking Symbicort inhaler for asthma. Since then my blood sugar is soaring. What can I do.

I have recently been prescribed symbicort, but for some reason I read that corticosteroids are more widely used? Does anyone know whether long term acting beta agonists or cortisteroids are safer long term? What is safer on the heart? Also does xanax counter effect the high blood pressure etc. associated with asthma medicines?

I got thrush from advair and taking an antibiotic at the same time. I switched to symbicort and it has never happened again even with an antibiotic. Thrush is a fungal infection and hives an allergic reaction. Thrush often happens when the bodies resistance is down. My friend with AIDS had thrush a lot.

m allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting. I'm working on this issue yet with my specialist. I will let you know what solution she comes up with...

The research I have done on thrush said not to use mouth washes as they tend to dry out the mouth which encourages thrush growth. Thrush is a yeast and salt kills yeast (bread baking principle). I decided to try a warm saline gargle to see if that helped any and it seems to be helping me. Feel better.

Yes, I'm on diflucan for thrush. I got it from Symbicort for asthma...it has an inhaled steroid in it. I was on antibiotics a month ago for a sinus infection and strep throat, so that probably contributed to my getting it. It's starting to go away...it doesn't hurt as much and not as many white fuzzy spots :) Ho, Ho, Ho!
