Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar n tn Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma? Avatar n tn 1) yes, the bad air almost certainly induced acute inflammation of your bronchi, commonly called airways, but it is equally certain that this inflammation is completely reversible, although it may require months of therapy with the Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) or similar medicines; 2) No, the treatment would not have had an adverse effect on
Avatar f tn she first put me on Symbicort and a decreasing prednisone RX. By the end of the week, the Symbicort did allow me to take the inhalation deeper but only seemed to help about 4-5 hours before the SOB returned, and the prednisone didn't seem to be making a difference. I spoke with her Friday late afternoon. She changed me to Spiriva as she said it lasts longer, told me to keep at the prednisone 40 mg for 2-3 more days before decreasing to 30 mg.
Avatar n tn You should have another follow-up x-ray, now. The prescription of Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol does not mean you have asthma. It only means that your doctor suspects that you might have it. Given that it is now nearly 4 months since the bout of pneumonia, you deserve further diagnostic evaluation by a lung specialist.
Avatar n tn Thanks for all the info. I just went to the doctors yesterday and told me that white mucus is sometimes normal but they did do a culture and so far so good. I have some other things going on with me right now. But the white mucus has stoppped and now it is just clear so i dont know i didnt do anything different from what i have been doing. also now they think i may have severe kidney problem, just add to the long list I already have.
Avatar n tn I am going to recommend you save up your pennies and get some Foradil (formoterol fumerate inhalation powder). It is VERY expensive, but the 12mcg packets work almost immediately and are more effective than the albuterol sulfate. The Foradil will last for a long time. It will save you a hospital bill on a bad day. The albuterol suflate is short-acting. The steroidal inhalers do NOT work immediately.
Avatar f tn There are many philosophies, but one protocol suggests albuterol should be used first and ipratropium five minutes later. Try the foradil (formoterol fumarate inhalation power). It too is expensive, but the company provides free samples.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar n tn A similar drug, Formoterol (Combined with the inhaled steroid, Budesonide, in the drug Symbicort) while in the same class, might not have the same properties and perhaps might not exhibit the same cardiac stimulatory effect as Serevent. You might want to discuss this with your doctor. Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist).
1511949 tn?1290193751 Since I started taking Symbicort inhaler, I have to constantly clear my throat. Nothing comes out; no mucos or anything. Is there a relief for this condition?
Avatar n tn I am a diabetic on oral meds. Some months ago I started taking Symbicort inhaler for asthma. Since then my blood sugar is soaring. What can I do.
Avatar m tn If you are using a dry powder inhaler like the Advair Discus or Asmanex Twisthaler, the proper inhalation rate is essential. Have your doctor check your technique to make your medication as effective as possible. I hope that helps. God bless.
Avatar f tn (see next paragraph re peripheral neuropathy) Such sensations have been described by roughly 3-4% of persons using either Spiriva or Formoterol (in the Symbicort). That may be the cause and the information I found on this suggested that while a nuisance, this is not considered a serious reaction and not a reason to discontinue the medication.
959034 tn?1253671476 m allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting. I'm working on this issue yet with my specialist. I will let you know what solution she comes up with...
718416 tn?1259680550 I have recently been prescribed symbicort, but for some reason I read that corticosteroids are more widely used? Does anyone know whether long term acting beta agonists or cortisteroids are safer long term? What is safer on the heart? Also does xanax counter effect the high blood pressure etc. associated with asthma medicines?
Avatar m tn Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar f tn You might suggest to your physician he try Foradil (formoterol fumarate) inhalation powder. This is a long-acting beta agonist, and a 12 mcg dose will last for 12 hours. It has the disadvantage of being slightly expensive. Some people have side effects from this, but I have experienced none whatsoever. Some medications have both a steroid plus formoterol. My feeling is to try the formoterol fumarate alone, and see if that solves the problem before going to the dual-medication formulas.
Avatar f tn I have asthma and mine has actually improved with pregnancy. Advice take it slow and easy. Are you on a controller inhaler? I take symbicort which helps a lot. I don't even have to use my rescue inhaler now. I take my prenatal still. If it makes you sick take it before bed.
Avatar f tn I saw my doctor, and was tested positive for asthma. I was prescribed Advair and a rescue inhaler. None of it worked. I coughed all day long until I vomited. Mainly when I cough I produce large amounts of mucus. I went to another doctor after my previous doctor relocated. The new doctor agreed that I had asthma and prescribed Singular and Symbicort. Again, I saw no results but my doctor insisted that I stayed with the treatment.
Avatar f tn t know what controller med you use, but after I use Symbicort at night, for some reason it makes me cough mucus up. So about 15-20 min after using it, I take a hot shower and cough it up and I feel much better. The mucus doesn't cause me breathing problems, either, but I can feel it.
Avatar f tn ll get used to the inhaled medicine better or later he will reduce the number of times you need to take the inhaler---or give you an inhaler that delivers less medicine and doesn't have this effect. I hope it's better by now.
Avatar f tn 2nd and 3rd baby I have been on symbicort high dose with rescue inhaler when needed. Never been told I was high risk because of it tho. She keeps on top of it and always makes sure I have my meds. I'm high risk for multiple other reasons but not my asthma. I have horrible allergies and have been struggling with breathing due to baby & allergies and what not.
Avatar f tn Today I saw specialist about my asthma and he told me my chest is tight and gave me Symbicort Turbuhaler. I looked all the information I could on the inhailer, but I am still unsure what he means by my chest is tight. When my asthma bothered me as a child I was too off in my own world to understand what it meant. I just knew my mum told me I had to use this puffer. So my self knoweledge on asthma is not that great. Thank you in advance for your responce.
