Avatar n tn A similar drug, Formoterol (Combined with the inhaled steroid, Budesonide, in the drug Symbicort) while in the same class, might not have the same properties and perhaps might not exhibit the same cardiac stimulatory effect as Serevent. You might want to discuss this with your doctor. Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist).
Avatar n tn Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma? This discussion is related to Borderline Glaucoma and Steroids.
1511949 tn?1290193751 Since I started taking Symbicort inhaler, I have to constantly clear my throat. Nothing comes out; no mucos or anything. Is there a relief for this condition?
Avatar n tn I am a diabetic on oral meds. Some months ago I started taking Symbicort inhaler for asthma. Since then my blood sugar is soaring. What can I do.
Avatar f tn (see next paragraph re peripheral neuropathy) Such sensations have been described by roughly 3-4% of persons using either Spiriva or Formoterol (in the Symbicort). That may be the cause and the information I found on this suggested that while a nuisance, this is not considered a serious reaction and not a reason to discontinue the medication.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
959034 tn?1253671476 m allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting. I'm working on this issue yet with my specialist. I will let you know what solution she comes up with...
718416 tn?1259680550 I have recently been prescribed symbicort, but for some reason I read that corticosteroids are more widely used? Does anyone know whether long term acting beta agonists or cortisteroids are safer long term? What is safer on the heart? Also does xanax counter effect the high blood pressure etc. associated with asthma medicines?
Avatar m tn Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar f tn I have asthma and mine has actually improved with pregnancy. Advice take it slow and easy. Are you on a controller inhaler? I take symbicort which helps a lot. I don't even have to use my rescue inhaler now. I take my prenatal still. If it makes you sick take it before bed.
Avatar f tn t know what controller med you use, but after I use Symbicort at night, for some reason it makes me cough mucus up. So about 15-20 min after using it, I take a hot shower and cough it up and I feel much better. The mucus doesn't cause me breathing problems, either, but I can feel it.
Avatar f tn here in the uk many people get symbicort for asthma , I have been on it for around a year , and I was only diagnosed with copd a cuople of weeks ago . I found it helped me enormously, it is probably an issue of cost why they dont give it to you , as each inhaler costs around £70...
Avatar f tn 2nd and 3rd baby I have been on symbicort high dose with rescue inhaler when needed. Never been told I was high risk because of it tho. She keeps on top of it and always makes sure I have my meds. I'm high risk for multiple other reasons but not my asthma. I have horrible allergies and have been struggling with breathing due to baby & allergies and what not.
Avatar f tn Today I saw specialist about my asthma and he told me my chest is tight and gave me Symbicort Turbuhaler. I looked all the information I could on the inhailer, but I am still unsure what he means by my chest is tight. When my asthma bothered me as a child I was too off in my own world to understand what it meant. I just knew my mum told me I had to use this puffer. So my self knoweledge on asthma is not that great. Thank you in advance for your responce.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Bronchiolar asthma all my life (22 years), My inhalers have not been a bother with me worked perfect helped me so much expect the Blue one which made my Asthma worse.
Avatar n tn My husband is using Symbicort and now has a very sore throat. He told me that once or twice he has forgotten to rinse is mouth out with water. I also found out that he does not use it every 12 hours, he is using it twice a day but maybe about 9 hours apart. I am wondering if his sore throat is caused by the Symbicort and what can I do for it, I am giving him throat lozenges and pop sickles. This has been going on for about 4 days now and he has been on the Symbicort since July 7th.
Avatar f tn I can walk a mile but have to rest as I still desaturate on 6L O2. Recently started Symbicort inhaler and systemic blood pressure went up 180/108 and was wondering if the med would be likely to raise pulmonary pressure as well. Doctor added HCT to already prescribed Diovan which seems to be working but am on low dose of Symbicort and may have to increase it.
Avatar m tn Initially it started with allergies, then asthma.....initial days my ventolin and formoterol inhalers were working, but last 3 years it is not helping much... I checked FEV which is 68% of predicted...but no significant increase in FEV1 after bronchodialator.... Every day I feel little tightnes, even if I take symbicort...daily moring and evening..... saw pulmonologyst 5 months back, he suggested to continue with the same+singulair.... Feeling very desprate....please help with some suggestions.
Avatar f tn I have bronchitis with a severe cough I am taking 50mg cortisone a day I am not able to cut down yet as the cough is too severe. It's been around 4 weeks since it started as a sore throat and moved down to my chest am taking antibiotics Clarithromycin 250mg & Doxycycline Monohydrate (50mg), Rikodeine or Codeine cough suppressant, Symbicort inhaler. I'm not sleeping well a couple of hours here and there and I'm exhausted, am severely constipated.
1512008 tn?1290210749 i was wondering if anyone out there is on this inhaler and if so have you had any side effects from it. the only side effect i know of is thrush and i thought i had it due to a severe sore throat i got after going 2 rounds of antibiotics and a round of prednisone for not only my asthma but chronic bronchitis that lasted 45 days. the dr put me on the thrush medication just in case i had it in my throat but didnt see it.
Avatar n tn I am a 46 years old triathlete. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was in high school and had a cold and exercised. It wasn't a problem and I only used the inhaler a few times. I have been training for 1/2 ironman triathlon race and went to see an allergy doctor. I found out I am allergic to quite a few trees/bushes etc -- hayfever. While there the doctor tested my air flow a bunch of times. She said I was quite a bit lower than expected, especially for the amount of exercising I do.
Avatar f tn Alergia made me dry up too much but then it started making me feel odd, so I waited a few days and tried Zertic, that was the same reaction, so I again waited a few days and went back with Cleartin, same reaction. My PC doctor did give me the Singulair since I do have Asthma. He had me try Symbicort but that stuff really made me dry, and so nasty tasting. I can however use just a steroid inhaler along with the Nasonex nose spray, it seemed to work very well for me.
Avatar n tn 1) yes, the bad air almost certainly induced acute inflammation of your bronchi, commonly called airways, but it is equally certain that this inflammation is completely reversible, although it may require months of therapy with the Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) or similar medicines; 2) No, the treatment would not have had an adverse effect on
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
