Avatar m tn I have had breathing tests that shows my lung capacity is 65%. I just started to take Symbicort. Could the Symbicort be raising my blood pressure, or is it all in my head? When I take my BP a couple of hours after taking Symbicort its high. My Meds are: Crestor 40mg Amlodine 5mg Synthroid .250mcg Lisinopril 40mg twice a day Zolpidem 10mg Metoprolol 50mg one & 1/2 pills twice a day Symbicort 80/4.
Avatar m tn My maintenance medication was recently changed from Symbicort 160/4.5 once a day to Asmanex HFA 200mcg due to high blood pressure and heart rate issues with the Symbicort. I'm on day 3 now and ever since I started Asmanex I've been experiencing a productive and incessant cough. The coughing is worse immediately after using the Asmanex.

959034 tn?1253671476 Hi, I'm almost in the same boat as you, if my need for steroid goes any higher. But how many puffs/day of symbicort are you taking? I'm allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting.
Avatar f tn Hi, I don't know the answer to your question, but I can empathise. For years, I had terrible troubles in a workplace with a set of symptoms that are very hard to describe. Eventually it became clear that flourescent light was the major issue. I work under natural light now, thank goodness. All I would say is that you should keep in mind that a workplace is an environment with many possible elements that may cause you problems, but not others.
Avatar n tn In the past 16 days I have begun using Spiriva in addition to the 2 doses of Symbicort I was using daily. Although I get good (better) results from the combination than Symbicort alone, since starting the Spiriva, I am experiencing very dry mouth, and nasal passages to the extent that I occasionally experience light bleeding when I blow my nose.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar n tn The Symbicort keeps me awake at night when I take the 2x spray/2x a day. The doctor mentioned I need to use Symbicort for a few weeks consistently before seeing the results. Do I really have asthma if I don't really notice a difference using Albuteral? Should I reduce the dose of the Symbicort to 1 spray 2x a day? Are there other reasons why my peak flow would be so low? I will be calling my doctor about this tomorrow, but I would love a second opinion. Thank you.

1098963 tn?1257865718 I do not believe the steroid from the Symbicort will transmit to you through the exchange of "bodily fluids". If it is true then it would be very very minimal and would not interact with your blood pressure medications.
959034 tn?1253671476 I take Prednisone, Symbicort, and Theo-Dur all daily. I use my ProAir only as needed. Anyone have any suggestions?

718416 tn?1259680550 Yeah, that is what I thought, it was prescribed as last result, that is weird because that is the only inhaler my doctor prescribed, I am just going to quit it and stick to my emeergency inhaler ( been working for the past 5 years ) Any thoughts on this? I don't want to depend on something I have to take for the rest of my life at a certain time every day.
5037123 tn?1362663006 My doctor has prescribed Pulmicort which I take 2 times a day. You have to rinse your mouth after you take Pulmicort. I also take something called Bricanol which is also an inhaler which my doctor told me to use as needed. I've seen commercials for Advair. The commercials state that not everybody is a candidate for Advair. One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort.
Avatar m tn I would really like to know, because I hate taking that symbicort. I have to have a debate with myself before each use as to whether or not it is really worth it, I hate it. Any input anyone? I would appreciate it.
Avatar n tn t quite sure myself about the Symbicort and blood sugar levels, so I did a little research and here is a link to what I found - it comes directly from the Symbicort website. http://www.mysymbicort.com/asthma/index.aspx?source=20048&WT.
Avatar f tn There is another new medication called symbicort, that is what I use and I LOVE it. It takes care of all of my chronic asthma conditions and I use an emergency inhaler for when I have a trigger that causes an attack. Check your side effects. I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have had a flu for six months now. Finally my doctor diagnosed pneumonia and put me on antibiotics, Avamys and Symbicort. Unfortunately, either the Symbicort or the Avamyst has given me a fungal infection in the throat (and beyond ... it seems to go down quite far). This was not too unexpected as Advair gives me horrible thrush that lasts for months.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, it typically suggests allergic rhinitis with bronchial asthma which is exaggerated or precipitated during cold season or timing. The triggering factors like dust, fog, pollens etc. can cause the precipitation of these symptoms. You need to identify these precipitating factors.
Avatar m tn I took antibiotic, and tried taking prednisone and symbicort. I simply cannot deal with side effects. Took some natural stuff too, need to get rid of this awful wheezing. What can I do?
Avatar f tn t been able to get a hold of them to see how it turned out. I have not been able to find anyone else anywhere with the same issue. I get this transient pupil movement about once a day, usually at night. Does anyone know what this could be or have any experience with it?
Avatar f tn Some asthmatics just produce more mucous then others in response to an allergic reaction. The best thing to do is drink lots of fluids to keep the mucous thin and exercise regularly to help move the mucous from the lungs.
1511949 tn?1290193751 Since I started taking Symbicort inhaler, I have to constantly clear my throat. Nothing comes out; no mucos or anything. Is there a relief for this condition?
Avatar f tn My OB said everything looks good and sounds good with baby.
Avatar f tn Symbicort is a controller inhaler that you take twice daily. For me its been the best controller. It does the same thing as your flovent but for me works better. When I first found out I was pregnant I didn't have any control over my asthma I was using my inhaler several times a day. Talk to your primary care physician see what else you can do. I'm now 29 weeks and haven't used my inhaler in over a week. Mostly thanks to symbicort.
