Symbicort for cough

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort for cough

symbicort

Avatar m tn My maintenance medication was recently changed from Symbicort 160/4.5 once a day to Asmanex HFA 200mcg due to high blood pressure and heart rate issues with the Symbicort. I'm on day 3 now and ever since I started Asmanex I've been experiencing a productive and incessant cough. The coughing is worse immediately after using the Asmanex.
Avatar f tn t know what controller med you use, but after I use Symbicort at night, for some reason it makes me cough mucus up. So about 15-20 min after using it, I take a hot shower and cough it up and I feel much better. The mucus doesn't cause me breathing problems, either, but I can feel it.
Avatar f tn t have ameter flow yes dairy makes it worse thank u I appreciate you commenting I wake up gasping for air cough n clear y throat
Avatar m tn I have had Chronic Bronchitis since the end of May. I've been taking antibiotics, prednisone, symbicort, breathing treatments every 6 hours & cough syrup with codeine. I have been in the hospital twice. The symptoms have not gotten better. I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort. I have chest pain when coughing, bending and last night I was awakened by chest pain (I was sleeping on my back).
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for asking. Finally got rid of cough with Prednisone, but gained 6 lbs., and am always hungry now. Also, am super scared of getting this virus, especially after all I went through last month. I appreciate you contacting me....
Avatar f tn This pregnancy, my asthma has flared up for weeks and has gone from moderately severe to severe. I just saw my pulmonologist for the first time today, and he prescribed me Symbicort, which is safe and I was not at all concerned about. I now have monthly appts with him to monitor my asthma throughout my pregnancy. My question is: Did an increase in severity of your asthma cause you to become high risk?
Avatar f tn For the past 3 years I've had a cough that will not go away. I saw my doctor, and was tested positive for asthma. I was prescribed Advair and a rescue inhaler. None of it worked. I coughed all day long until I vomited. Mainly when I cough I produce large amounts of mucus. I went to another doctor after my previous doctor relocated. The new doctor agreed that I had asthma and prescribed Singular and Symbicort. Again, I saw no results but my doctor insisted that I stayed with the treatment.
Avatar m tn t stop coughing. I also went to Asia for the first time in October and with the recent typhoons there, could I have made it worse. I used Biaxin (anti-biotics), started with Symbicort (puffer), then on Alvesco and now I am on Nasacort, Advair and Aerius. Is this a post virus cough, asthma or something else...your thoughts?
Avatar n tn I also take sleeping pills. I had a persistent cough that would not go away so my regular doctor prescribed Symbicort & Advair Inhalers. Ever since I am inhaling the sprays my cough has stopped. I went to the emergency room two days ago with shortness of breath and weakness and they discovered my Potassium level was too low. I know I have a lot of health issues but is this really all about asthma & allergies? or is there something else wrong with me? How do I get better?
Avatar m tn Now, supposedly recovering from whatever it was I got, I started having this peppery sensation in my lungs and more dry cough that wakes me up at night. Of course, my GP suggested that I take antihestamines for a while. Hayfever got to me after all. However, I really can't stand jumping out of bed EVERY NIGHT for the last 3 days, coughing and gasping for air.
Avatar n tn This inhalor is quite expensive, and I have never had need for one before. But then again. my cough has never persisted for so long (now nearing one and a half months). It is a mild, persistant cough. Should I purchase these medicines?
Avatar m tn What you describe is highly suspicious for your cough being on the basis of environmental exposures, allergic or irritant, first in the log home and more recently during your two week stay in the city. You could be responding to mold in one or both places but more commonly such problems as cough are caused by exposure to house dust or the house dust mite, to cockroach (even when they are dead) or to animal dander.
Avatar f tn Recently my doctor diagnosed me with asthma when I went in for a visit for a cough and cold....he said the astham was nothing serious and did not need to be treated. The cold is gone now but I have had a consistent cough for nearly 5 months; it is mostly brought on when I am engaging in physical activity or talking. When I am not struggling with a cough I am constantly wheezing....I always feel a wheeze in my chest....
Avatar f tn Since 1991 from April to November I cough non stop. I have taken different inhalers over the years and am now trying Symbicort. I am under a specialist now and he has suggested I have reflux and he wants me to take medication for this. Since March this year I have had two courses of prednisone which seems to be the only thing to stop me coughing. BUT two weeks after I have stopped taking the prednisone I start coughing again.
Avatar f tn I have bronchitis with a severe cough I am taking 50mg cortisone a day I am not able to cut down yet as the cough is too severe. It's been around 4 weeks since it started as a sore throat and moved down to my chest am taking antibiotics Clarithromycin 250mg & Doxycycline Monohydrate (50mg), Rikodeine or Codeine cough suppressant, Symbicort inhaler. I'm not sleeping well a couple of hours here and there and I'm exhausted, am severely constipated.
920958 tn?1477577593 I have had Chronic Bronchitis/Asthma Exacerbation since the end of May. (Recurring for 8 yrs on & off) I've been taking antibiotics, prednisone, symbicort, breathing treatments every 6 hours & cough syrup with codeine. I have been in the hospital twice. The symptoms have not gotten better. I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort.
757137 tn?1347196453 Oh, what sort of side effects do you get from asthma inhalers? Personally I find that they don't bother me at all. I'm currently using Symbicort 400ug x 4puffs/day along with oxeze 12ug x 3puffs/day (long acting bronchodilator). They work well in controlling my asthma symptoms. The only symptom that doesn't go away is a chronic cough due to excess lung mucous. The long lasting bronchodilator should only be used together with a steroid inhaler.
Avatar f tn For the last few days I have had a constant cough and now my throat/head/chest is killing me and ive caused a nose bleed from sniffing and blowing my nose -.- but my question is can the constant harsh coughing causing strain on my belly muscles cause any harm to the baby? I dont wanna cause him any harm..
Avatar n tn But the cough and the asthma were still there, so they put me on another Medrol course, and Levaquin. The cough cleared up for the most part, as did the wheeze, but the meds had serious side effects – I stopped the Levaquin after 8 doses, because it was making me depressed and exhausted, which I still am. I am also still coughing a bit (producing a little mucus), and feel short of breath, but my lung function is at 92% and I have optimal peak flow (475).
942934 tn?1268108382 I find that exercise helps, but no, I never feel as if my lungs are completely clear. I never had this cough (or bronchitis, for that matter) before this episode. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.
Avatar f tn I have this tightness in my chest i kno its mucus but i dont have a cough or cold it hurts when i try to take a deep breath ive never had chest congestion before im not coughing up blood or anything like that. ive been using my asthma pump because when i was younger i had trouble with asthma it helps clearing my airways so i can breath easier but it comes back after awhile. Help?
Avatar f tn here in the uk many people get symbicort for asthma , I have been on it for around a year , and I was only diagnosed with copd a cuople of weeks ago . I found it helped me enormously, it is probably an issue of cost why they dont give it to you , as each inhaler costs around £70...
Avatar m tn I use Symbicort for my asthma, too. I don't have high blood pressure, so I've never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I am taking inhaled symbicort for months but I still have breathing problems
Avatar f tn Advair HFA, alvesco and any HFA inhalers are lactose free. Puli org, symbicort, any disk inhalers or rotatable ones a Have lactose in them. I did have to fight to get my doctor to believe me and switch my inhaler but proved it once I was off for a few months - improved and then did spirometry before and after taking symbicort ... Guess what? My peak flow DROPPED, then they believed me :) You can be allergic to ventolin itself but there are other medication you can try.
