Symbicort for bronchitis

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort for bronchitis

symbicort

Avatar n tn Inhaled steroid/beta-agonist combos such as Symbicort are considered standard therapy for patients with frequent or severe COPD symptoms. Continue the Symbicort unless your physician tells you to stop using it.
Avatar f tn In the mornings i sometimes have a puff of my symbicort first, then immediately go out for a cigarette (I know, I know). I take the symbicort because my lungs feel tight. The thing is that since i started smoking weed daily, i have never had a proper asthma attack (they were severe when i was younger). I know im killing my lungs which is why i am taking drastic measures to quit cigarettes.
5037123 tn?1362663006 Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling. I believe I'm following the instructions, including rinsing my mouth after using. Is there a pill I can take instead?
920958 tn?1477577593 I have had Chronic Bronchitis/Asthma Exacerbation since the end of May. (Recurring for 8 yrs on & off) I've been taking antibiotics, prednisone, symbicort, breathing treatments every 6 hours & cough syrup with codeine. I have been in the hospital twice. The symptoms have not gotten better. I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort.
959034 tn?1253671476 I'm afraid I have no idea on this one. I'm still in the process of working things out with the specialist. She's left me on Symbicort for now and is looking into testing me for GERD. If it's that simple, I will be very happy. Her other alternative was to try 2 things. (1) I am to use the pulmicort 400 ug inhaler in conjunction with the oxeeze inhaler. These are the same two components as in the symbicort.
Avatar n tn About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks. Treatment proceeded thus: 1. 1 week Medrol plus Symbicort (60 mg). Little effect - my lung function was at 74%. 2. 10 -day course of .875 MG Augmentin with pulmicort + albuterol nebulizer treatments, and Nasonex. Some improvement -- lung function up to 81%. 3.
942934 tn?1268108382 I find that exercise helps, but no, I never feel as if my lungs are completely clear. I never had this cough (or bronchitis, for that matter) before this episode. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.
Avatar m tn I have had Chronic Bronchitis since the end of May. I've been taking antibiotics, prednisone, symbicort, breathing treatments every 6 hours & cough syrup with codeine. I have been in the hospital twice. The symptoms have not gotten better. I went to my Pulmonary doctor yesterday and was given more prednisone and symbicort. I have chest pain when coughing, bending and last night I was awakened by chest pain (I was sleeping on my back).
Avatar f tn In looking at the drug interaction information, it seems that those who are taking the corticosteriods, are even more at risk for muscle rupture and more at risk for developing pneumonia. A chest x-ray a couple of days ago confirmed that I do NOT have pneumonia now, but I can still hear sounds in my lungs when I do deep breathing.
1580703 tn?1651904887 If your present medications are not helping with the symptoms, it is best that you inform your attending physician for proper management. A change of medication or dosage may also be indicated. Treatment for bronchitis is usually supportive. And patients with underlying lung diseases such as asthma are usually at greater risk of developing recurring infection. Do keep us posted. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn This inhalor is quite expensive, and I have never had need for one before. But then again. my cough has never persisted for so long (now nearing one and a half months). It is a mild, persistant cough. Should I purchase these medicines?
Avatar f tn Has your environment been checked for fungus. Look for black walls, condensation on/around windows, etc. Whatever the cause, you must strengthen your immune system above all. Antibiotics weaken your immune system. 70% of our immune system is in our guts; our intestinal tract. This is a medical certainty, a scientific fact. You are constipated because of all the steroids and other drugs you are taking. Try to sleep proped-up with several pillows. Use an inhaler for emergency.
Avatar n tn Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist). You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor. I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.
Avatar m tn you need to stop smoking asap. I've been on prednisone too- what is your dose? I was on 30mg/day and am not sure it's safe for the liver and for 1-2 weeks. my FEV1 is 73% and hasn't gone up even on the prednisone and symbicort. you should contact your doctor asap.

Avatar f tn here in the uk many people get symbicort for asthma , I have been on it for around a year , and I was only diagnosed with copd a cuople of weeks ago . I found it helped me enormously, it is probably an issue of cost why they dont give it to you , as each inhaler costs around £70...
Avatar f tn DO I ALSO NEED TO BE TAKING SYMBICORT OR ADVAIR? WHAT CAN I DO TO TRY TO MANAGE MY COPD BESIDES QUIT SMOKING WHICH I HAVE CUT DOWN TO A HALF A PACK A DAY. WHICH IS ALL THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH NOW. WHAT CAN I BE DOING TO BETTER CONTROL MY BREATHING WITH WHAT I HAVE ON HAND?
Avatar m tn I use Symbicort for my asthma, too. I don't have high blood pressure, so I've never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I am taking inhaled symbicort for months but I still have breathing problems
Avatar n tn hi im 20 year old male...ok so i've been coughing for over 4 months now..used to smoke around 5-7 ciggarettes a day but i quit since i started coughing.....quit drinking too....it all started with bronchitis..i've been to the ER 4 times...for excessive coughing and shortness of breath..i recently got sent to a lung specialist..he diagnosed me with asthma..gave me advair 500/50 and albuterol pump..and prednisone because i think i had bronchial spasm...things got a littlle bit better..
Avatar m tn Hi! I originally went to the ER in June diagnosed with pneumonia/bronchitis. I have been on and off a surplus of antibiotics and prednisone. I have shortness of breath and pain in the lung/ back area. I am on spiriva, symbicort, ventolin, levalbuteral, and 800 ibuprofen. This has been going on for 5 months. X- ray was clear two months ago. All blood labs and cultures clear. My doctors do not know what to do for me? I'm constantly tired and in pain and short of breath.
Avatar f tn This pregnancy, my asthma has flared up for weeks and has gone from moderately severe to severe. I just saw my pulmonologist for the first time today, and he prescribed me Symbicort, which is safe and I was not at all concerned about. I now have monthly appts with him to monitor my asthma throughout my pregnancy. My question is: Did an increase in severity of your asthma cause you to become high risk?
Avatar n tn Symbicort does not cause "soaring" blood sugars. Consult your enchronologist. You may need to go to an injectable insulin, such as Lantus.
Avatar n tn The “near fatal reaction” may have had a component of airway inflammation, that served to “tip-off” your asthma, much as can happen with a severe respiratory infection, such as bronchitis, resulting in what is called bronchial hyperreactivity, a feature of asthma. What you have experienced may or may not be asthma in the conventional sense but be more akin to a condition called reactive airways dysfunction syndrome (RADS). This latter may take weeks, months or longer to eventually subside.

Avatar n tn I'm a 44-yo female. Still recovering from severe acute bronchitis that lasted 3 months (started mid-October 08), I am now living cat-free and taking all my meds. For eighteen years I lived in the vicinity of an outdoor cat, smoked periodically (last puff 5.5 years ago) and suffered what I considered to be mild asthma. I used albuterol about 1/day (usually just one puff) because of feelings of tightness at the top of my bronchi.
