Symbicort for asthma

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort for asthma

symbicort

Avatar n tn Symbicort does not cause "soaring" blood sugars. Consult your enchronologist. You may need to go to an injectable insulin, such as Lantus.
Avatar f tn Hi. I was looking for similar information except my situation is different. Im a medium smoker (for 9 years now) and smoke a joint every night (4 years). I take symbicort once in the mornings (9 years) and smoke about 14 ciggs per working day (after im high ill only have 2 cigarettes in 4 hours). I have asthma and mild chronic bronchitis. I know that my bronchitis is caused by my smoking, and fueled by my post-nasal drip. Its really just fluids.
Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old male with a somewhat mild case of asthma, and I take symbicort and albutoral as medication. I hate it. I recently developed some PVCs (heart palpatations), and I would really like to use a long term asthma controller in place of the symbicort that does not have increased heart rate as a side effect. Are there any somewhat effective asthma medications (long term controller, not rescue inhaler) that do not have increased heart rate as one of the side effects?
1580703 tn?1651904887 thanks so much for your help! my FEV1 was 73 and I have asthma attacks/shortness of breath at night even on symbicort (maybe it's better on Dulera) I feel better after I take some oxygen and I have sleep apnea where my O2 levels fall to about 70% at night do I need to try a different inhaler or be on oxygen during the day? on those finger oximeters my O2 level is sometimes around 94% during the day but I thought 100% is normal?
718416 tn?1259680550 I looked up Symbicort online (WebMd had an excellent write up for example). I know the fast acting inhalers like albuterol can cause temporary increased heart rate (about 10-15 minutes). That's the one I use most often. Next comes the steroids (oral or inhaled) for asthma management. I've used beclomethasone in the past and that's helped. My kids have used prednisone (oral) a few times but I personally avoid that one.
5037123 tn?1362663006 Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling. I believe I'm following the instructions, including rinsing my mouth after using. Is there a pill I can take instead?
Avatar m tn Immediate similar reaction after inhaling Symbicort. Called my doctor for advise, he sends me to the Emergency room saying that these are sympoms of stroke. Have asthma and know that in the hospital I will be staffed with more cortizone type medicine. Should not there be some remedy for relieving symptoms? Definitely I have allergy, feel synus. Why the only recommendation are steroids?
Avatar n tn Its probably not that much help but you can use advair with provetil as I was on the two for years until I was moved to symbicort and I can still use the proventil as needed.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was diagnosed with acute asthma last year and have been on symbicort/proventil for months, also singulair and took prednisone and methylprenisolone and I am still having breathing problems and chest tightness. taking some HC lately helped me breathe better and relax but still having breathing problems today. can you please help me??
Avatar f tn here in the uk many people get symbicort for asthma , I have been on it for around a year , and I was only diagnosed with copd a cuople of weeks ago . I found it helped me enormously, it is probably an issue of cost why they dont give it to you , as each inhaler costs around £70...
Avatar m tn I use Symbicort for my asthma, too. I don't have high blood pressure, so I've never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines.
Avatar n tn Have you tried symbicort? My asthma doc recently changed me to this and it has worked better for me.
1580703 tn?1651904887 ve been having breathing problems and chronic fatigue with asthma even after taking Symbicort and singulair regularly. I was prescribed 30mg prednisone for a week. is this high dose ok?
Avatar n tn A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management. Also you are on various medications, some of these are known to reduce the blood potassium levels (like thiazides) and can cause weakness known as hypokalemic periodic paralysis.
Avatar f tn There is another new medication called symbicort, that is what I use and I LOVE it. It takes care of all of my chronic asthma conditions and I use an emergency inhaler for when I have a trigger that causes an attack. Check your side effects. I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her.
Avatar f tn When I was pregnant, my asthma attacks suddenly kicked up in winter - cold dry air is always bad for me but the pregnancy was making it worse. I started to take Symbicort, it helped a bit - my OBGyn was OK with that medication, you can mention it to your doctor. Not a miracle cure though. The Albuterol inhaler (blue spray?) never worked for me and it will also get my heart racing very badly.
Avatar f tn My PC doctor did give me the Singulair to try since I do have Asthma. He had me try Symbicort but that stuff really made me dry, and so nasty tasting. I can however use just a steroid inhaler along with the Nasonex nose spray, it seemed to work very well for me. Should I try staying with this or try Singular? I thought I read up on Singular as causing liver issues. What do you think would be the safest way to go? Or the best? I LOVE breathing better !! I will be needing most of this daily.
Avatar m tn t seem like the Asmanex is as effective as controlling my other asthma symptoms (chest tightness, noctural waking) as the Symbicort was. Is the cough a symptom that the Asmanex is not working or is making things worse? Will Asmanex take longer to begin working? Should I give it more time? Does anyone have advice or suggestions on what to expect when changing from one maintenance treatment to another? Thank you!
Avatar f tn t know what controller med you use, but after I use Symbicort at night, for some reason it makes me cough mucus up. So about 15-20 min after using it, I take a hot shower and cough it up and I feel much better. The mucus doesn't cause me breathing problems, either, but I can feel it.
