Since Symbicort is a steroid couldn't weight gain and mood changes be attributed to its use?

Not only will you gain weight, you will destroy your immune system and weaken your bones. And in my case it caused adrenal fatigue with consequent anxiety and panic attacks. The is not an uncommon side effect and a case of the cure being worse than the illness. I switched over to natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics and am happier and healthier for it and there are no side effects. How bad is your COPD? What stage are you in?

Prednisone I believe, should be only temporary. There are lots of side effects of taking it, like weight gain, and years of taking it will also weaken your bones badly. I do not think alot of doctors keep patients on this-your steroid inhaler and maybe using Singulair should help.. I would ask about Singulair. You also need to see an actual asthma doctor (pulmonary doctor) if you're not already.

hi i have severe gerd and asthma getting worse today doctor put me onzantac prilosec ventalin and symbicort the divorcesymbicort felt like it froze my lungs when inhaled since then breathing got worse and middle of back hurts is this other normal

I had weight gain too while using Dulera. However, I wasn't sure if it was from the antibiotics and/or singulair. So hard to know, but thanks for the post about Dulera. I didn't use it for a few days & my weight went down immediately. I'm talking 6 lbs - which is a lot in a short period of time.

ve never had a reason to monitor my blood pressure, but I looked up the side-effects of Symbicort and it says changes in blood pressure can occur. There was also a warning to use caution in patients who have severe high blood pressure. As far as I can tell, there are no known interactions between Symbicort and blood pressure medicines. If you're concerned about how high your blood pressure gets after taking Symbicort, I'd talk to your doctor.

will be starting on champix and will be done with ciggarretes in 2 weeks but i was told if i take ventalin and smoke pot it could kill me and i currently take symbicort and ventalin (salbutamal sulphate) but i asked a nurse about if i was to smoke sum pot one day if i didnt take the ventalin all day would i be ok and she said yes but i would like a professionals information so my question is it ok for me to take symbicort and smoke on occasion?

Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling. I believe I'm following the instructions, including rinsing my mouth after using. Is there a pill I can take instead?

I started a new Job in October and ever since then I have had difficulty breathing and some days I lose my voice almost totally. I have been in and out of the Dr and now using Symbicort and taking prednisone. It is wierd this only happens during the week while I am at work. Weekends seen to be fine after a little time away. Is this Asthma or am I alergice to my workplace? Should I test the air quality?

Symbicort is a combination drug - it has an inhaled corticosteroid for the inflammation and a long acting bronchodilator for the spasms. You should stay away from oral steroids at all costs, unless you are extremely sick and can't breathe - peak flow 50% or lower of personal best.

I'm afraid I have no idea on this one. I'm still in the process of working things out with the specialist. She's left me on Symbicort for now and is looking into testing me for GERD. omg. thanks for mentioning symbicort. i started symbicort a while ago, and my throat clearing has gotten worse. my doctor has put me on nexium to dry up things, but i stopped taking it - just felt i didnt need it at the time. i may need to go back on the nexium or find out if the omnezaprole will work too.

I have recently been prescribed symbicort, but for some reason I read that corticosteroids are more widely used? Does anyone know whether long term acting beta agonists or cortisteroids are safer long term? What is safer on the heart? Also does xanax counter effect the high blood pressure etc. associated with asthma medicines?

She said I was quite a bit lower than expected, especially for the amount of exercising I do. She gave me albuteral and symbicort (plus some hayfever meds) and asked me to use the peak flow meter. I generally have been at about 450 on the flow meter and for my size and weght (6' tall and 160 lbs) it says I should be about 650. I don't seem to see any real improvement when I use Albuteral. The Symbicort keeps me awake at night when I take the 2x spray/2x a day.

s not on any meds except for symbicort turbuhaler which she uses twice daily day and night. She woke up in the middle of last night and vomitted. She felt her heart was throbbing hard. Her BP was quite low 96 54 while her pulse was 86. Her usual pulse is usually around 60. Her temperature was normal. In the past 16 days I have begun using Spiriva in addition to the 2 doses of Symbicort I was using daily. Although I get good (better) results from the combination than Symbicort alone, since starting the Spiriva, I am experiencing very dry mouth, and nasal passages to the extent that I occasionally experience light bleeding when I blow my nose.
