Symbicort advair

Common Questions and Answers about Symbicort advair

symbicort

Plus I get very bad asthma exacerbations with infections, so I was told to never to go off of it. Symbicort is a good alternative to Advair, but unfortunately it too is expensive.
One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
This is often dose related and so the first step should be for you and your doctor to reduce the total daily dose of inhaled steroid as much as you can, yet still maintain good control of your asthma. In this regard, Advair and Symbicort are reasonably equivilant. Being sensitive to the skin effects, you are apt to be more sensitive to other steroid side effects, such as cataracts, hypertension and adrenal gland suppression.
Finally my doctor diagnosed pneumonia and put me on antibiotics, Avamys and Symbicort. Unfortunately, either the Symbicort or the Avamyst has given me a fungal infection in the throat (and beyond ... it seems to go down quite far). This was not too unexpected as Advair gives me horrible thrush that lasts for months. My question however is, if I stop taking the Symbicort and the Avamys will the thrush go away, or should I go see my doctor to get anti-fungal stuff (i.e. Nystatin)?
I developed serious side effects (severe bronchitis and choking) using Advair 250/50. (I had been using Advair for several years.) I started skipping the occasional dosage, then I skipped a couple of days. I tried taking it one more time and had a serious choking episode. So I stopped using it altogether. Will I suffer withdrawal, and what form will it take?
For the past 10 years, i've been taking Advair (500). One inhalation in the morning, one at night. I have not experienced an Asthma attack in those 10 years. So - over the TG break, i left my Advair inhaler at my parent's house. So - i have been without the Advair for 5 days now - have not taken it. And i have not had any kind of asthma attack, or trouble breathing. I don't think i'm cured or anything - but I feel this is a good sign. Should i switch up the medication to Flovent?
Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist). You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor. I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.
does taking advair make mucus that you cough up and mucus from from your nose turn white?
drugs every year, but really they are re-hashing the same things over and over again. The latest ones are Advair and Symbicort. These are just combinations of previous drugs. Corticosteroids are non-specific and essentially shut down your immune system at the site of application. They do nothing about the cause of asthma. I used to get 6 chest colds and numerous sore throats a winter when I was on Flovent. I took all the precautions such as frequent gargling after application.
Also, the muscle cramps I got from advair haven't really left yet, I don't think ... Can't really tell because I'm puppy sitting and going from no exercise because of my jaw and lungs to at least 2 hours walk/jog a day. I'm sore!!
am I tired and have memory, sleep apnea problems because of asthma? I've tried symbicort for over a year and dulera for a month and I still have breathing difficulties in small rooms or rooms with lots of people. what else can I do to improve my energy and memory?
As a fellow singer, I recommend that you try the HFA version of Advair or Symbicort. Symbicort tends to be a little cheaper. It works great for most people, but I didn't metabolize it well at all and nose dived on it. I don't know if you have heard this before, but clearing your throat is VERY hard on your vocal cords. You need to break that habit. Instead a cough or hard swallow is much better for you. I learned that from a speach therapist.
How long can one safely be on Advair? I have been on it for several years. Also, I am wondering if my dry mouth and dry eyes are a result of this medication.
You might need to take different brands to get better affects. Symbicort is similar to advair and works a lot better for me than advair. You may also need a higher dose if it isn't helping.
Switched back to Symbicort from using advair HFA after my surgery .... man bad symptoms. I was still using my ventolin 2-3 times a week on advair (like usual) but had NO symptoms in between. Now that's I'm using the symbicort again, all the muscous and mild tighness is back. Why? I think it's the lactose, pulmicort worked tons better than advair diskus bad in the day and I never noticed that Symbicort had lactose in it.
i got put on pulmicort and foradil that did wonders for me and last month i got put on symbicort which is a combo of the pulmicort and foradil. Maybe symbicort would not cause you these symptoms?
it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.
Hi, I have asthsma and use Advair. I have heard about some potential worrysome side effectsd and it's damm expensive. Does anyone have a better choice for controlling asthsma?
Ever since I stopped taking Advair, I've become hypersensitive to any and all drugs!! Everything from Prilosec to Tagament. From vitamins to digestive enzymes. From Albuterol Sulfate (in nebulizer) to Singulair. Everything that I ingest in pill form or inhale (chemically) results in a SEVERE allergic reaction or SEVERE adverse reactions!! I've learned to combat the GERD by controlling my diet and eating more raw foods seems to do the trick. BUT my asthma really concerns me.
I've had problems with my asthma control since trying to go back to symbicort after using advair hfa after a surgery (which is ironic since symbicort is my main inhaler). Now I have massive muscous, coughing and tight chest which isn't going away. To the point that once the allergy symptoms increase when I'm outside, the ventolin doesn't help at all (even after 3-4 puffs). The walk-in doctor suggested that I increase my advair and take a higher dose of antihistamine.
Since last Wednesday I'm doing Advair and never had asthma symptoms again. The only thing I notice, though I don't know if it is connected, is a slightest hoarseness.
Hubby would like to know what the difference ( aside from price ) is between advair and symbicort. Advair is $176/month...but he could get symbicort for less than $50/month. Because of the price difference he would like to ask his doctor about changing it. Think his lung specialist would go for that if he asked? Are there any other inhalers that are similar to advair?
Hi, I'm not an expert .... are you taking something like Advair on a daily basis? If not, maybe something like that with a long actor bronchiodialator coupled with steriod may be helpful for inbetween times you need the oral steroids. WELCOME to our Asthma Community!
The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.
So while they do not have the same medications, the medication groups are the same. So id Advair was helping you, Symbicort should also help you. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Ok, meds changed to symbicort 200 - 2 puffs twice daily and the usual ventolin (although it is name-brand this inhaler because the generic was back ordered). I didn't sleep any better (up every 2 hours) but I am puppy sitting right now so I'm not in my own bed. This morning though I do feel a bit better (knock on wood). We'll have to see if it works any better than the advair. Already the stupid muscle cramps are gone, and the doctor seemed surprised I was getting them on the advair.
in throat which causes me - a singer - to lose my voice when singing low notes. The Advair was discontinued and I am now on Symbicort which, I am afraid, is causing the same problem. Is there a simple "home remedy" for this problem? Thank you.
