Swollen tonsils no fever

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen tonsils no fever

swollen

I would get examined by a physician. A temp of 101 is over 100.4 which doctors consider to be a real fever. Fever and swollen throat after tonsillectomy is concerning for a secondary infection, but it could be a normal part of healing as well. Fever sometimes comes when collapsed parts of the lung are reinflating after surgery. Inflammation is always a part of healing, the question is your daughter's within normal or not. Tylenol is helpful for bringing down a fever.
So i had strep thoat and finished taking my course of pencillin vk about a week ago, and my tonsils still havent gone down, and my lymphnodes are still swollen, admittedly i have been putting my finger in my throat to feel my tonsils and they are still pretty big, the white stuffs gone off them but they're still big. When can i expect them to go cause this is driving me nuts, also my tongue sometimes has a thin layer of whiteish colored stuff that brushes off, is this normal?
I am not sure if this is the right board for this but anywho, my tonsils have been swollen for more than a month now, the doctor said that is was viral tonsilitis and that it would go away by itself. I also noticed a small bump behind my tonsil (but it's not on the back of my mouth) it's located on the tissue behind the tonsil (if that makes any sense).
Recently, she developed swollen tonsils. No other symptoms (no pain even when eating and swollowing, no fever, no spots on her tonsils, no loss of appetite, no fatigue, etc.). Dr. gave her ammoxicillin for 10 days. No change. Dr. then gave her azithomiacin (sp?) for 5 days. Swelling did decrease, however, no follow up with this antibiotic was recommended or given. Now swelling is back. I know over exposure to antibiotics is dangerous.
I've had swollen tonsils for about 2 weeks now and they haven't seemed to have gotten any smaller. The left tonsil is a bit larger than the right one which makes it a bit painful to swollow, simply because it's swollen. I don't actually have any pain at all, rather than my left ear hurting a bit, it's more annoying since I can feel that it's too big. I've been taking the typical advil liquids to try and calm down the swelling, and sucking on throat lozenges to ease any pain I do have.
Oh, I also have no fever but body is achy past few days!
During this time, I did not experience any other symptoms - no fever, no muscle pain, no fatigue, etc. Three weeks after the encounter I went to my Dr. who was less concerned with HIV than another STD so he ordered a battery of STD tests which all came back negative. Now I'm stuck waiting out the window period for ELISA testing. My fear here is that the swollen gland/tonsils were a sign of Acute Retroviral Syndrome (ARS) which are typically described as flu-like symptoms.
Fisrt day was fever and sweating with acheing joints and some vomiting. Days 2-10 swollen tonsils with white patches (extremely painful). Now my uvula is swollen and sitting on my tounge. Ok so heres what I have been using to combat this. Gargle with salt water, Drink warm water with honey and lemon, Tylenol for pain (actually works for once), had some fluticasone propionate for nasal congestion (stopped working so switched to afrin) and zinc cough drops.
Bluebell, sometimes (in fact, many times) there IS no explaination for sore throat, slight fever, and body aches. There are hundreds of garden variety upper respiratory viruses that are EXTREMELY common and easily communicated amongst the general population. Your throat culture may not show a thing. They usually don't.
I have a house guest - (with no insurance) who has swollen tonsils, a slight fever (99.9), with very little exudate on her tonsils. her ears are hurting as well. Any treatment options other than straight to the E.R. for anitibiotics?
then i had a mono test done but the results haven't came back yet. my tonsils are swollen and red. no white spots but there is one blood spot. it looks like somethings like eating away my tonsils. what could this be?
Five days after the exposure I developed a sore throat/ swollen tonsils with no other flu/cold symptoms. No other swollen lymph nodes are detected. I did NOT get a fever, lethargic, runny nose or any other typical flu symptom. I did however break out with the occasional cold sore that I have gotten in the past. I have been very stressed out at work for the last month, so I know my immunities are down. My question : Are swollen tonsils a early symptom of HIV?
swollen tonsils are from herpes? what about swollen lymphnodes under jaw? this went away with antibiotics after a few days...
It is until today that I stumbled upon a medical article that links acid reflux to swollen tonsils. I was shocked that no doctor has already even suggested that possibility. I have acid reflux issues periodically, my father did too and would always take baking soda to combat his reflux. I do now the same. I had lack of sleep for the past few months, only sleeping 6 hours and not 8. Apparently we need 8 hours of sleep for our stomachs to heal so no acid comes back up.
none of these things are really that sore they are uncomfortable they feel like a kind of electric shock pins and needles feeling like an ache for maybe 5 seconds. i still have my swollen tonsils but none of my lymph nodes are swollen. i dont think i have a fever reason i see that is because i dont have a thermometer in my house and don't know how ot teset for a fever otherwise. i have a doctors app on friday but would just like to know what anyone thinks i may have .
I went to my doc on Monday and by then my tonsils were pretty swollen and had white lumps on them. I've had a few strep throats during my life so I figured that was it. My glands were fairly swollen too. Anyway she prescribed me Calvepen, which she said is pure penicillin. On Tuesday, I went to my own Doc (a different one) who prescribed me clavamel (apparently it's penicillin based). Anyway I took Tues and Wed off work, and went back in on thursday.
About two weeks ago I had the really dark circles, green/bloody nasal mucus, fatigue, ear pain, and eventually severely swollen tonsils with tons of pus. I was put on zpak and it started to clear up in about 4 days (I took the zpak for 5 days). It was slow, but I did feel much better eventually. I was very, very and slept constantly. I was running an average of 102.5 degree fevers this time. The worst symptom is the extreme fatigue I am experiencing.
3-4 days after I had a slight fever ,headache, a really sore throat, swollen tonsils, and swollen glands, also one morning after I woke up with white stuff all over my tounge. My tounge is cover in white dots and my throat is really red. The fourth day, I had to stay home from school, I couldn't even swallow. Im very concered due to me knowing who he is. Hes 18(hes a major player) and im 15, we just hookdup just one time, but Im kinda nervous.
Enlarged, tender tonsils with white patches in the throat, sore throat noted couple days now gone, no nasal secretions or head ache, one day of joint aches are these something to be concerned about, no fever, symptoms are improving w/ vit c doses. thanks grammie 56 This discussion is related to oral transmission of STD's, what are the symptoms?.
Problem is he got a very mild outbreak a week later and I got infected tonsils with fever and swollen glands which was fixed in a few days with antibiotics. No signs of any sores on me but is there a chance the flu like symptoms could indicate a primary genital infection even though I have no obvious anything going on down there. I get cold sores every now and then but have never had infected tonsils before. Am concerned about the flu/tonsillitis symptoms being hsv2.
My breath is horrible and even though both tonsils are swollen, I only have pain in the right one. And I salivate like crazy. No fever, caughing, or sneezing. In fact, other than the tonsils and a little fatigueI feel perfectly fine. I'm concerned becasue I have been taking the antibiotics for two days the spots look like they're spreading wider! What could this be?
I had white spots on my tonsils once, with NO pain. I had never had anything like that before. It looked horrible, but didn't hurt. My doctor put me on some antibiotics, just in case it was strep, and it cleared up easily. I haven't had any problems since then.
Almost 2 weeks ago I developed a sore throat, swollen tonsils (but no puss or pockets or fever) and slightly swollen lymph nodes under my jaw. I went to the clinic, took a strep test and it was negative. I was told it was either from the post nasal drip from my allergies or viral. She told me that if my sore throat didn't get any better by the 7th day from the first day of sympoms to take z-pac that she prescribed.
If there is no problem with the tonsils then everything should be fine. The tonsils can be asymmetrical in size but not too much. The redness in front of a tonsil could be a mouth ulcer. It could also be due to gastric reflux causing constant irritation. Take an antacid gel and see if the scratchy feeling goes. It could also be due to prolonged allergy. It would be good if you could get an ENT to look at it once. Hope this helps.
Yesterday I notice that the left side of my tonsil are swollen I look it up on the internet and it said it is a sign of cancer I don't have no fever or no real bad strep throat so I don't know wat to make of this I also still get some body twitches and pain all over my body but I jus tried to believe that anxeity but now I'm back scared I have a terrible disease I'm bout to go insane if it's not one symptom it's another
I didn't have a sore throat, no fever, I didn't really feel sick but my throat felt swollen and it was effecting my gag reflex. I never thought it was strep. My left tonsil is still swollen and sometimes it still bothers me, but I don't feel sick. What is going on?
