swollen

Well I took all my meds, few weeks later tonsil still swollen. Since my tonsil became swollen all I want to do is sleep. When I do sleep I have begun waking up in the middle of the night being very hot. I have experienced trouble breathing in very hot weather and when I clean with strong chemicals. I never had this problem before. So on Aug 4th I went to an ENT who gave me another antibiotic, Clindamycin. So right now I taking these meds hoping everything will be ok.

My 20-yr old son has gotten what I've recently learned was tonsil stones..was picking them out of his tonsils for YEARS! No ENT would touch him since he never had strep throat, so he continues to live with them. ME, on the other hand, have had sinus polyps since my 20's with serious post-nasal drip constantly. I neither smoke nor drink. In May of this year, I was hospitalized with a "mild" heart attack, in for 5 days...a week later, I noticed a large white spot on my R tonsil.
I have just had a throat infection. One tonsil was more swollen than the other and my GP put me on anti biotics. I have finished these just over two weeks but I noticed I do have a swollen epiglottis. Its very enlarged and red and it too is touching the back of my tongue and making me feel like I have something in my throat. I cough during the night and my hubby has said I am snoring!. I have checked on web sites and it sounds like it is epiglottitis.
I've been searching on the internet and I see a lot of people talking about tonsil stones but no one has mentioned that their tonsil crypts are swollen or closing. Has anyone ever heard or experienced this? About 3 weeks ago I had a virus and my throat was raw and swollen, I had an earache, fever, couldn't swallow, headache.... and I saw an ENT. He was a terrible doctor. A the time I didn't know the medical terms such as tonsillar crypt.
Sorry/ I should also add that I have had occasional earache, but doctor said my ears are totally clear. Lymph nodes on both sides are swollen but not really sore.
In my opinion you are suffering from acute tonsillitis (left tonsil) and inflamed tonsil is creating a problem in left ear. Visit ENT doctor and get the proper antibiotic treatment and anti inflammatory alongwith painkiller. Do mouthwash three times a day.
Right now the ulcer is gone and the earache as well, but the right tonsil is still bigger. Its color is normal and the size excluded, everything seems to be normal. I will keep on watching it though, and report back to the doctor if anything fishy comes up. I think (and hope!) that everything is fine! Thank you very much for your support doctor, cheers!
5 days ago i had a medium sized polyp removed from the right side of my throat (just near to my tonsil), it was painful, but no more than i expected, and after 2 days, it started to feel like it was getting betetr. the pain was lessoning. im now on day 5 and its got alot worse, but almost like a different kind of pain. my tongue has swollen very slightly, and i have ear ache on the side where i had the operation. im taking the strongest dissolvable pain killers in the pharmacy.
Had sex again with same person on December 22nd unprotected. On December 26 my left tonsil became swollen and was covered in white material. My left lymph node became swollen and I had an earache on the left side of course due to infection. I went to the Dr and tested negative for Strep and they have me some amoxicillin. Which I didn’t take because I don’t like antibiotics and they give me yeast infections.

I am in my mid 40's and never had canker sores before .... the gland from my ear to my jaw is swollen and the earache is unbearable but no problems with my tongue except the canker sores !! the pain goes down my neck to my shoulder and find it very difficult to sleep on my left side so constantly waking up and rolling over from the pain !!
It feels like ive got a lump in my throat by the Adams apple and my tonsil area is really red and what look like small blisters just in front of the tonsils. Also the pain sometimes extends to my ears too and the area below my jaw line also seems sensitive.
About 5 weeks ago, I couldn't swallow properly, it hurt, and my right glands in the neck were all lumpy and swollen, with infected right side of tonsil, the Doctor GP, said it was tonsilitis. I have never had tonsilitis ever. After 2 days of antibiotics it all disappeared in the throat, took the glands about a week to go down. I am sceptical that it was tonsilitis because of the stories I have heard from others that have had it. Just didn't seem right.
Hypertonic solutions thin the sticky secretions and make them easier to wash out of your sinuses. Hypertonic solutions shrink swollen tissues by drawing out the excess moisture. When the swollen tissues shrink, the openings of the sinuses (the ostia) get bigger, and all the infected pus and snot can drain better. Hypertonic solutions wash out particles of pollution, fungus, and mold, so that your body won’t have an allergic reaction to them.
The very next day the entire right side of my face began hurting. My cheek, behind my eye, my teeth, it feels like it's all swollen. I went to another ENT and took my CT scan with me. He gave me an MRI, got a better look at the cyst and again said it's no big deal. Gave me some more meds, they don't help the pain they only put me to sleep, and told me to come back in 6 months for another MRI to see if it has grown. In the meantime, I'm crippled.
It started in june 2004, and it also affects my left tonsil. They are swollen and have those nasty smelling white/cream lumps on them. If i manage to get out the mucas before is slides behind the tonsils too far then it is clearish and does not look infected, but once it has gone past a certian point in the back of my throat it then becomes very difficult to remove unless i tilt my head and neck at an unusual angle. When it does finally come out it does have brown spots in it.
Family thinks I'm hypochondriac doctor won't even give me t3's for the pain my throat is always swollen on one side. Done the gammit of allergy tests, ear docs, eye problems-floaters, ear aches from hell neck and jaw swollen all the time, headaches. reading all of these pages has actually given me some relief! I asked my doctor about the relationship of my ear face and neck pain and he says he's never heard of the relationship between bad teeth and all these symptoms.
The back ends of my hyoid and the whole surrounding area, from rock-hard swollen lymph nodes through to the scars where my tonsils were removed at age six, have been sore forever. Not suddenly and dramatically like you describe, just a constant aching that varies as I move my head. For me there is no "back in place". I can put my hand to my throat and grab my hyoid between thumb and forefinger at any time, and feel both back ends right under the skin.
There is a condition called Arnold Chiari Malformation that has many symptoms mentioned here. It is a congenital condition where the cerebellar tonsil protrudes through the opening (foramen magnum) at the base of the skull blocking the cerebral spinal fluid from flowing properly. Throbbing pain at the back of the head caused by valsalva maneuver (bearing down when you have a bowel movement, sneezing, coughing, lifting, etc.) is common with Chiari.
I broke down and took two rounds of antibiotics for a recent bout of sinus pain and congestion, and sicker since, unable to work, fatigued with head pressure, had swollen nodes in the back of my neck/head that were sore. Never had that in my life. I went to a natural doctor who has put me on a detoxifying shake with many nutrients that clear the system out. Also homeopathic drops to put in water to build my resistence up to allergens. She also mentioned removing any mercury tooth fillings.
I see you are being tested for Lupus. I had the swollen glands and the loosing hair and one ANA positive. I just want answers but for now I am retiring from the medical roundabout as for me it is doing more harm then good for now. Doni54.
