358594 tn?1211255129 Reconstruction of the ACL is recommended,if instability continues even after leg strength and knee motion has returned. In serious knee injury, do not attempt to move the joint. A splint should be used to keep the knee straight .Take complete rest as your right ankle is injured and do not put weight on your injured knee. Best .
Avatar n tn Today I CANNOT put weight on it and it is swollen. The pain originates on the inside of my knee, not in the soft spot next to the patella, but outside that. At this pt. the pain has spread all over my knee, but to touch it is super tender in that inside spot. I have iced it and put heat on it. Not sure what to do at this pt. My foot on the side of the injured knee feels asleep. Can someone give me advice. Should I see a doctor? Or can this be dealt with at home?
Avatar m tn I am now 5 weeks post treatment and the pain has subsided some but my knee remains swollen and stiff. I will have a steroid injection on the 23rd to try and knock that swelling down. Yes, it is very common for joint pain or old injury aggravation. Many come here with the same issues...some resolve and some do not. Just know that it is very common and hopefully you get better when TX is over.
Avatar f tn You can have knee injuries which might be mild Grade I during the car crash and it might have progressed to Grade II or Grade III with dancing, weight bearing, physical activity this can be a reason for chronic ligament problems in knee joint. Try conservative treatment initially and if it fails you can go for arthroscopic surgery. Take care!
Avatar n tn When mine torn and it was the right also before the surgery my knee would snap back, wabbaly alittle swollen, but get a second opinion, if it is your acl you could have torn it or completey ripped it in half.
Avatar m tn About two months ago I was play fighting with a friend when I my knee twisted and it I injured my knee, I was drunk at the time and cant remember the incident very well, but the next day by knee was very swollen and sore. I went to the doctors and they said they swelling would go down and it would heal in about 4 weeks, about 6 weeks later it was just as bad if not worse, I went to the doctors again and they booked me to see a physiotherapist, but the appointment is not for two months.

Avatar f tn Since starting classes again I have been having a lot of trouble with my knee. There is heat coming from it. It gets swollen, and red by the end of the day. At first it didn't hurt at all, it was just swollen. However; the last few weeks it has started to hurt, and I've gotten lightheaded a few times. Also there is this popping sound that happens if I rest it for awhile, then try to get up. My knee also itches to every now and then.
Avatar f tn I used to play a lot of soccer and have not in years, but I remember having knee and ankle pain quite often, enough so that I frequently wore knee braces and wrapped both ankles. I now play golf, and after playing one day I noticed some knee pain. There was no specific incident or sudden onset of pain - it just gradually appeared. I also started hearing more popping noises than usual, but now it hurt and I felt movement.

1393879 tn?1288725449 In the knee joint an injury to menisci can be the culprit. It can also be a muscle injury locking the knee. Generally conservative treatment should help. Anti-inflammatory drugs, alternate hot and cold fomentation should help. Maybe you should get a MRI of the knee joint. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, My name is Tamika a 16 year old who has recently joined MedHelp seeking advice about a knee injury that i have had for quite a while. On the 23rd of August 2011 I injured my knee during a PE exercise in which we had to carry classmates across the field while running. I had to carry a girl who was heavier than me and while running it felt as if my knee had snpped back and I fell to the floor due to the pain and instability of my knee.

Finally this past April a neurosurgeon who was examining my back looked at my knee and after attempting to move it in different ways said he thought I may have a torn Meniscus, and should see an Orthopedic about it. After an Xray in May ruled out anything, my regualar dr.
1587585 tn?1309432260 I hurt my left knee yesterday doing side lunges and although I can walk on it, I'm limping a bit to keep the weight off of it. I'm pretty sure it's sore due to overuse and the fact that I weigh 235 lbs. I have it wrapped, took some Motrin, and iced it. It's the same knee I dislocated twice about 6 years ago. I took some Excedrin Back and Body and a muscle relaxer before bed. I slept with a pillow under my knee and tried not to move around a whole lot.

Avatar n tn 7 yrs ago i had an accident which resulted in a muscle crush injury to the back of the knee. I still have many problems with it after all these years. In cold, damp weather it aches and becomes swollen, retains water so becomes puffy and i find myself tripping over more as my leg feels wooden at times. Is there anything that can be done to ease this and why am i still having these problems after 7years.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it is imposible to make a diagnosis from this simple description. If your pain is persistant, and does not respond to a short period of rest or activity modification, then I would suggest evaluation by an orthopedist. At that time, your doctor will take a thorough history, examine your knee and entire lower extremity, and use xrays and MRI if necessary, to formulate a diagnosis. After a dianosis is reached, then a treatment plan that makes sense for you canbe instituted.
Avatar m tn t take much of an injury to possibly cause a blood clot. Since you have a swollen ankle, it makes sense to go back to the doctor and rule this out. Blood clots can be dangerous and need to be tended to immediately. I'm not saying this is what you have but it is worth getting it checked out.
Avatar n tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Meniscal tear is repaired by two methods meniscectomy or meniscal repair. In most cases of meniscectomy, there are chances of development of arthritis, this is due to grinding of the bones against each other causing wear and tear. This can also happen due recurrent damage to the meniscus. Is there any swelling, warmth or fever? I would suggest that you get a x-ray of the knee done to see what is it is. Depending upon the cause treatment varies.
Avatar m tn Hello! It's been four months now that my right knee is slightly swollen. The swelling is visible on the knee itself and the bottom part of my quadricep. It is not much but it's visible especially when compared with my other knee. I don't feel pain, only minor discomfort which gets a bit worse and spreads to a larger area (the discomfort, not the swelling) when I stand up or sit down for too long.
