Swollen knee red hot

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen knee red hot

I would like to know what may be causing my knees to sometimes swell, get hot and red, itchy, and uncomfortable. I am almost 30 and this is the first time that I have ever really experienced these symptoms. For the most part, it only happens in the evening after working a full day. but more recently they have been swollen in the morning also. Any suggestions or info would be much appreciated.
My knee has this lump that is hot, tender, hard, swollen and red. Its on the right side of my right knee. I havent bumped it on anything, there doesnt seem to be any "bite" marks. and the redness is spread over my knee cap and up my leg. What is this?
It seems to come from the top of my knee and seems to spread some to the sides and it has been swollen. Also it was hot and red for a day or two. I am now 22 and have been playing soccer since I was 8 years old. I was not hit or injured during one of my games so I'm not sure where this pain is coming from. I was out playing tenniss yesterday and it started to hurt after I finished playing a little more than before. I would like to know what may be causing this and what can I do?
Alright, last night I was at this big fireworks show called red hot and boom and I was longboarding to go see the fireworks.
Also, maybe it's Bursitis, the Bursa (suppose to act as a cushion, there's 11 of them for the knee) could be swollen due to surgery could have caused some trauma to it. My suggestion would be to do R.I.C.E (rest, ice, compression, elevate), also Ibuprofen helps swelling & pain. If the pain gets intolerable or it gets red on the skin with streak like lines forming in either direction of the leg &/or you get a fever then please see your doctor immediately, it's prob an infection.
I can't walk on my knee, it is swollen to double the size of my other knee, even my foot is swollen. The entire leg aches, but the knee hurts bad! It gets flashes of shooting pains, and it burns. It is extremely red (although I'm still on antibiotics) and it's hot (not any worse than before, though). I am SICK of this, they don't have a clue what is wrong, so they expect me to walk (or lack of) around like this, stoned on dilaudid, and being totally miserable.
By a few hours later the joint was aching quite a bit but I could still use it. By night it was quite swollen and red, and it was painful to move my index finger at all. Today it has been aching all day and getting more swollen. It is now 9.45pm and it is getting extremely painful. I have hardly any range of motion with it at all without intense pain. It feels and looks hot. Should I go and get it checked out?
I have been having alot of knee pain that burns and feels hot to the touch. It is about the same in both knees. They are not swollen or red it just feels like they hurt and burn on the inside. Any ideas what may be causing this? Thanks in advance for any information.
A long time later, I told the surgeon how that knee got all red and hot (post being in hot water) versus the other one. He was surprised it was happening that far out from the surgery but told me it was bone healing that was causing it. It is great your mobility is excellent. If you possibly can, I recommend you get to your local gym with a heated pool and walk around in it a few times a week.
also have the skin on chest and neck is red and a little hot to touch.sometimes my arms hurt under near my armpit almost like i have swollen glands. I too get dizzy and weak and have fatigue. I am a 54 year old woman who has lupus for 11 years. maybe it has something to do with the autoimune system. my doctor also doesn't seem to know what it can be. Hope we can all find a cure.
The last few days his knee became more painful and last night his foot became swollen as was his whole leg down from the knee to the toes. The knee has been hot to touch but not that red since it started. His foot looks swollen and reddish now also. He's also prone to gout having had a few gout attacks recently. We took him to a doctor and they did a blood test from his arm (not his knee) and x-ray. Nothing on the x-ray.

I have an itchy red rash on both legs from the knee down to the the ankle, and can't get rid of it. Help!!!!
I had a torn miniscus and below my knee is very swollen and under the knee to the right where ham string is. I have been at Physical Therapy going on 5 months now and still can't bend it and still having problems. It's very hard to do anything because of the discomfort and pain and aches. Doctor just says it's soft tissue problems. But why, I don't understand what is taking so long to heal. Any ideas?
Hi Everyone, I've been experiencing swollen ankles, my left one more swollen than my right one, even if I don't stand for a long time. They're even swollen after being in bed all night. I'm athletic, fit and not overweight. I have two questions: 1) is the edema a sign that HCV is progressing? and 2) can liver ultrasounds reveal mild fibrosis? My stats: 53, female, geno 1 VL 11 million infected 25 years/blood transf & frequently symptomatic (fever, swollen glands, fatigue, weak, etc.
I am in my 60's and have only just started to have either a swollen face or, on the last two occasions, a swollen tongue, which all started in September. The first time I had a swollen tongue was 4 weeks ago and I ended up in hospital. I had already taken Piriton but it didn't help. At the hospital they gave me Prednisolone which worked very quickly and I was packed off home with another 2 days supply.
Hi All, I'm a 50 yr old (young) female with issues! I have been dealing with both calves & feet swelling to where they feel tight as a drum! Very painful to the touch, My doc put me on a water pills for the edema & a potassium pill. Its not working! Now when I do go to bed at night to bed at night with my feet elevated I wake up with my calves & feet very red & warm to hot to the touch.
The solution he gave me was motrin and to watch if it is hot to the touch, swollen and red all at the same time then to bring him back in right away. Lyme’s?? would that have shown in the blood work they did and wouldn't there be wore symptoms???
For the last 6 or 7 years I have developed red, sometimes swollen, bumps/lumps which lay on my knuckles and on the tops of my fingers. They are not exactly painful but when you knock them or run your finger over them for instance they feel quite sore and 'blister like'. I get these all times of the year so the weather does not seem to be factor. However, I have noticed that in the summer, they seem to worsen. The area around them can also become dry and scaly looking.
e., hot flashes, alternating feeling hot and cold, fatigue, etc. I believe many of your (as well as my) symptoms are related to anxiety. The remainder (sinus drainage, throat problems) are totally unrelated to your exposure. Relative to ARS, the first and most dominant symptom is a relatively high fever (over 101 or so). JohnnyV provided a nice description of ARS in terms of how the body reacts (i.e., the symptoms) as it fights the HIV virus a few weeks ago.
The knee gets a little better each day, but is still very tight and swollen but the pain is tolerable so I've weaned myself off of the crutches. My problem is my calf. If I'm on it very long at all, it starts burning. I would be concerned about a blood clot, but I've had issues with that calf for years off and on. About 10 years ago I was checked for a blood clot using ultrasound and it was negative. Anytime I over use this leg, it seems that the calf acts up but goes away in a few days.
Now, almost 3 days later, I have large rashes behind both my knees, and a spreading rash where my sunburn was. Both areas are badly swollen causing extreme discomfort to my knee. My knees prefer to be streched out now, without the swollen skin touching anything. The rash has also spread to include my upper right arm, and smaller similar bumps down my arm, and a patch on my left arm. All of these came on quite suddenly.
I have been flushing BRIGHT red almost all the time now. It happens for no reason, and I feel ridiculously hot. My face, neck, chest, sometimes arms & knees turn mottled bright red, while the tip of my nose, fingers and toes freeze. I sweat more than normal now, I get random little white ulcers in my mouth almost constantly. I have random skin rashes and itchiness that my dermatologist can't solve. I have been diagnosed with a primary liver tumor.
Hello! Infection can make your knees swollen, red, hot and painful. You would need to check for all the signs of inflammation due to the infection and some of these symptoms can also be due to post operative inflammation. Follow up with your surgeon and get your knees examined completely and rule out infection. Follow complete asepsis and if required you have to take suitable antibiotics. Take care!
It is so painful he cannot do the exercises as he should and the knee is very swollen and tight. He has seen the general practitioner who is managing the pain but I am wondering if this is how it should be or if something is going off track and we should be seeing the surgeon for a follow-up. Thank you if anybody can help me.

Not for sure what this is. About a week ago I got small bump like , red, itchy spots on both lower legs...on my ankles up about 10" onto my calves. I thought at first fleas in the house maybe....but after putting out a flea trap, nothing. In fact there are so many, it can't be bugs...in less it is some type of mite or something. I sit at the computer alot at night...my wife does some, but nothing on her. A few weeks ago, I did a little money detecting...
I'm calling my doctor today because I finished up the medicine she gave me and I'm still very swollen, the sensitivity went away but obviously having a swollen clitoris and inner labia isn't comfortable! I will ask her about that. However, for it's not the hood that really swollen, it's my inner labia. But my clitorus does feel very hard underneath the hood like you mentioned. As if it was eroused and stayed that way. My doesn't feel sore to touch but it doesn't feel normal either.
