swollen

That has never happened before, caught myself with my right arm. No injury to my arm but my knee is very bruised and swollen now part of my pain factor. Do not think it is broke, but it is very swollen. I am going back to limited movement, all I need to do is fall and break a bone, that would suck bad. Lower back feeling really strained today, cramping in shoulders, left shoulder still in constant pain, whether I use it or keep it immobile. headache the same but only stabbing if I move.
Ok first off i was walking and my knee just kind of gave out i ended up falling with all my weight (217) onto my left knee, i went to the ER cause it was very swollen bruised and hurt so bad i couldn't straighten it. The took X-Rays but no one was there to look at them so they just put me in immobilized brace and gave me crutches and said stay off of it for 3 days. I did that and no here it is a month or more later and it still hurts. But the reason i am writing is...
I slept with a pillow under my knee and tried not to move around a whole lot. My knee isn't swollen, nor is the area around it. I can straighten my leg all the way (but its sore) When I bend my knee back it really hurts. The pain seems to be coming from behind my knee. What do you think is causing the pain?
32 yr old swollen knee, pain, feel pressure, did not injure it or fall, came on all of a sudden
My knee has been swollen for over a month now, I dont remember a specific injury all I know is I have pain when I go up and down the stairs, when I squat down or when I try to get off the floor. I have noticed loud popping and a grinding sound when I move it. It also feels like something is pulling when I walk which makes it unstable. I went to the er and they told me they werent sure what was going on with it. They told me to go to my regular doctor but I dont have one.
I started having unexplainable severe knee pain. No idea how or why. No injury, no swelling, no bruising. I had my knee examined, Xrays done, and everything looked great. I decided to change the sneakers I was using to exercise and actually use sneakers when using the eliptical at home and as God is my witness - problem solved!!!!!!!! No more knee pain. I hope my story helps someone.
it' now been about seven days and I'm still in pain. The pain is on the inside of my knee. It is swollen, and my whole leg appears to be swollen. my knee is also red. Without my knee brace on, my knee feels weak and unstable. Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks very much.
upon leaving they gave me a foam knee brace and sent me on my way. When I got home and tried on the knee brace I found out it was way to large (XXL) to the point of it being almost comical (I'm 130 lbs., maybe if I was a NFL running back it would fit.
Last summer my knee was swollen for no reason. I hadn't hurt it, i had played any sport recently, and i hadn't done anything that could've hurt it. I went to the Emergency room and got X-rays done and they tested fluids in my knee and still nothing. They couldn't find why. They sent me to an Orthopedic and Then they performed an MRI and perscribed Anti-Inflamatories (Naproxen) and pain relievers.
One day I woke up and my left knee was swollen (twice the size as my right, yet I had no pain). I took ibuprofen and took it easy for a while and within a 4-5 days 99% swelling went away. Again no pain durin the whole time. Then I proceeded to do some light exercises on the treadmill and stairs over a 3day period and all of a sudden I felt and HEARD click sounds out of my left knee. Again, NO pain associated with it.
i hurt my self today with my car and a metal part cut my knee a bit now its swollen on top not under hurts a little bit. should i go to an er or just a knee specialist or can a family doctor do as well?
Since starting classes again I have been having a lot of trouble with my knee. There is heat coming from it. It gets swollen, and red by the end of the day. At first it didn't hurt at all, it was just swollen. However; the last few weeks it has started to hurt, and I've gotten lightheaded a few times. Also there is this popping sound that happens if I rest it for awhile, then try to get up. My knee also itches to every now and then.
the next morning i couldnt walk on it the it gradually got better through the week then i went to a skatepark yesterday and when jumping off something it came back it wasnt fully healed yet anyway but it is swollen about 1/2 the size of my knee cap and hurts when i squat, or do things that put pressure on it. Its a hard swollen knot.
the most I can bend is like 90 degrees, after that, I feel a bad pull in my quadriceps muscles. My quadriceps muscles have swollen just above my knee cap. There is no color or pain. It is just that I feel a bad pull when I bend my knee, its swollen, difficult to walk because of the knee bending problem, there is no pain on the swollen part, but it hurts my quadriceps muscles when I try to bend my knee. Please give me a solution to this problem. I will be more than grateful.
ACl injuries occur either from a collision injury, or a twisting injury to the knee on a fixed foot. As far as your current problem, this really could be anything. Possibilites include pre-patella bursitis, which would cause swelling in front of the knee cap or an injury inside the knee such as damage to the cartilage or even an ACL tear.
This may be where the bar hit (spot of injury) Current condition 2hrs after injury my knee doesnt hurt to the touch & only some pain associated with walking not that bad(3-4 / 10 pain scale) but causes an awkward stride. i took 600mg of ibuprofen, I applied ice 20 mins, twice. I have partially torn and torn a ligament in my ankle and the pain/mobility are nothing compared to that but iam worried because of the amount of swelling in my knee. any thoughts?
X-rays show nothing damaged. Just above my knee, it's swollen still. I've been taking naproxen sodium for 7 days and not seeing any improvement. In fact my knee feels worse, like the muscles are tightening around the knee and hurting it. It's like a burning pain and is making daily activities harder to accomplish. I'm resting as much as possible and stopped weight training for my legs, as per doctor's orders. Is there anything else I can do to help my knee heal?
Reconstruction of the ACL is recommended,if instability continues even after leg strength and knee motion has returned. In serious knee injury, do not attempt to move the joint. A splint should be used to keep the knee straight .Take complete rest as your right ankle is injured and do not put weight on your injured knee. Best .
No external bruises but knee is a bit swollen and it hurts a lot when I am trying to walk on it.
I told her of the old softball injury at the same location, and that I could no longer see the vein which was there before. I told her my entire lower leg was very swollen. She told me to elevate and treat with ice, and that I had a contusion (bruise) and I would be fine. I was concerned that the vein had ruptured, and concerned about blood clots.
a horse kicked me in my thigh 2 weeks ago , iwent to the hospital to get it checked i had an exray and there were no fractures.
Hi Jon, A MCL injury is a sprain of the MCL, which is the primary restraint to valgus stress on the knee. Initially, a patient with a MCL injury is treated with ice, elevation; analgesics, a hinged knee brace, and protected weight-bearing as tolerated. The patient should be referred to physical therapy. Intra-articular injection of corticosteroids, and hyaluronic acid, may have a small effect on knee pain. I think Synvisc treatments are fine.
About 2 weeks ago I was practicing and tripped over a hurdle, landed right on my knee and could not walk on it for about a week. I saw a doctor, no breaks and no fractured growth plates. I am not in consistant pain. I only have one concern, whenever I walk sometimes, my knee wobbles and gives out on me and I fall over. I am now in a knee brace but it is not helping me. My knee was swollen for about 1 week and a 1/2, no bruising, nothing. If you could help me that would be great!
Naproxen and Celebrex-slight improvement, leg pain subsided, some numb/stiff-not bad, but no reflex left knee. Discomfort/burning continues in lower back, esp.evenings, though swimming, lying down, shifting, standing all provide temp relief. July MRI "normal". Orthopod, Neurosurgeon can only offer pills, PT, and encouragement. Am confounded so undetectable. Can MRI see inflammation? Scar tissue? What else could be? Thank you.
She felt down some two years back and there was internal injury on both of her knees and skin color was turned to blue for 6-7 days. After this injury she started feeling some uneasiness in her knees and felt them soft. Doctors then removed some liquid from right knee and till few days back right leg was fine. But for last 15 days, pain has also started in her right knee. She was continuing feeling some movement and uneasiness in her knees. There is also pain in her ankles and forefoot.
But 5/4 I woke up to a painful and swollen knee. I gave it some time. Took it easy for a week. Tried to go for my daily run, and made it maybe 1/8 of a mile. Too much pain. So I walked. It didnt get better. On 5/20 I finally went to the doctors office. X-rays/MRI's showed the following Partially torn ACL Partially torn (Lateral?) Meniscus I cant say that I get this right but I believe she used the following words: Impaction Stress Fracture of the Tibialar Plateau.
