Swollen knee calf

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen knee calf

swollen

Both my calves are very tight but don't ever hurt. My right leg under the knee is swollen and leaves an imprint if I indent it with my thumb. Running injury? Vascular problem? Don't worry about it?
My knee has been swollen for over a month now, I dont remember a specific injury all I know is I have pain when I go up and down the stairs, when I squat down or when I try to get off the floor. I have noticed loud popping and a grinding sound when I move it. It also feels like something is pulling when I walk which makes it unstable. I went to the er and they told me they werent sure what was going on with it. They told me to go to my regular doctor but I dont have one.
On saturday her right leg below her knee started to swell up and yesterday it was not only the calf and leg that were swollen but her ankle was swollen too. Today we went to the doctor and he sent her to get a dopler scan to see if there were any blood clots. She got the scans and there were no blood clots found. The lady who was doing the scan said that she saw a lot of fluid coming out of her joints and asked me if my mother had arthritis, which i confirmed.
Now, my problem is that my right knee is still looking pretty swollen AND now my right calf is a bit swollen too. The calf hurts a bit with some areas on it (the calf) hurting when I touch them. I don't know why these areas hurt. Also, the calf gets really hard when I walk on the right leg. I still cannot bend my knee as much as I used to and the added calf pains and swelling has me believing I may have made a terrible mistake wearing that wrap for so long.
Two weeks ago my calf was hit, not hard, while playing basketball. The contact point of the injury was right on an old injury to a vain, (I think, not an artery) I instantly felt severe pain, far more then I expected from the strength of the impact. After getting up I could barely walk. Three days later, with my entire lower leg, below the knee to the ankle, swelling, about 1.0 to .
For the last 4 days I have had the worst throbing, and sometimes numming Pain in my Calf. I don't know what is wrong. I hurts from my knee down into my foot. It feels numb and then it throbs. It is sharp and very painful. No pain relievers are helping it at all. Please help me.
about five days ago while walking briskly, i felt a "pop" on the inside of my calf followed by severe pain. could barely walk. i stayed walking and on my feet for the remainder of the day, in pain the entire time. i favored the leg but continued to be on my feet as i had a job to do. at the end of the day, i wrapped the calf, took naproxen, and was a bit better the following day.
For several days now I have been experiencing some excruciating calf pain when doing my knee bending exercises or simply walking with a walker. Calf and ankle are swollen. As a precaution, a doppler ultrasound was done to check for clotting. None found. Not sure if others experience calf pain as one the the primary pains following TKR. The pain can be intense and sharp. Looking forward to that day post recovery when pain has diminished. Days? Weeks? Months?
When my ortho thought I had a blood clot in my leg aka deep vein thrombosis, he ordered a doppler ultrasound, thank goodness it was negative. I had a knee arthroscopy about two weeks prior, and had very tight, hard calf due to swelling.
However, yesterday when I was running, I suddenly started getting sharp stabbing pain only on the outside of my right knee. My knee is NOT swollen at all, I can easily bend my knee and pushing all over it causes no pain. It only stabs when I'm jogging on that leg. Today it was way worse. It's not bad when I walk, but it's over the top when I run. The hip/upper femur pain is constantly present, but worse when I sit.
what could cause veins popping out in knee and calf..and severe pain in knee and calf..it started about a week ago while i was out walking. i have not been able to walk sense this happened..my knee is swelled a little bit and i did get a few bruises about the size of a quarter each.
The knee gets a little better each day, but is still very tight and swollen but the pain is tolerable so I've weaned myself off of the crutches. My problem is my calf. If I'm on it very long at all, it starts burning. I would be concerned about a blood clot, but I've had issues with that calf for years off and on. About 10 years ago I was checked for a blood clot using ultrasound and it was negative. Anytime I over use this leg, it seems that the calf acts up but goes away in a few days.
Following training on Tuesday I helped bump start a car. About ten minutes later I felt a pain in my left calf which at first I thought was just a bit of cramp and two days on it’s still painful. It’s like a dull ache and is slightly swollen and has reduced my leg flexibility a little. It has a lump approx 1.5 cm in size about a third of the way down from my knee on the outside of the leg. My question is this: Is this just a knotted muscle or do you think I have pulled / torn something?
Well today since I'm wearing shorts I noticed a small lump on my putter calf part of my leg (only noticeable when I'm flexing. I'm all freaked out. My husband said to wait until tomorrow to see if it gets worse. The lump itself does not hurt, my legs just feel heavy and tired. But I busted butt around my house all day yesterday , followed by an intense love making session with my hubby. I was exhausted to say the least. I'm just worried about a blood clot. I'm 21 weeks tomorrow. Any thoughts??
My ankle and the leg below the knee has become swollen. It is about 1 inch in circumference at the calf larger than the other leg. I have been to the hospital emergency and they have done both a blood test and an ultra sound. Blood clots have been ruled out. There is no pain. What might be the cause of this?
I try to move my toes around a lot and when I get up, I move my knee as well for a few minutes. The calf doesn't feel swollen to me.
But the pain has increased and more troubling my leg is beginning to bow. Most of the pain is not in the knee but in the bone below the knee. Recently I've begun to develop pain in the muscles behind my thigh and calf. I take Enbrel and Meloxicam for my joint and to control the swelling in my joints. Because I had to come off my meds to do the surgery my knees were swollen and very painful. But the doctor still did the surgery.
My journey started out with random knee pain. My left leg would swell up fat as a baseball and then go down but not all the way. I went to a doctor which sent me to an ortho who performed an MRI and X-ray and found nothing. Said the fluid and swelling would go away in some weeks. It's now going on two months and I still have the swelling but now I am having a hard time sitting without discomfort and stifness when I get up iris impossible to straighten my leg and my knee swells back up instantly.
I tore a calf muscle 8 days ago. It was swollen badly (felt full of liquid) and I was only able to limp around using crutches. I have been doing RICE (rest, ice, etc) and the swelling is now 99% gone. I have no real pain (just occasional light feeling of tightness or a dull ache). I am able to do small stretching exercises (pointing toes upward, straightening the leg slowly). I can walk with a little more mobility but still use crutches and don't try to load the calf muscle fully.
But 5/4 I woke up to a painful and swollen knee. I gave it some time. Took it easy for a week. Tried to go for my daily run, and made it maybe 1/8 of a mile. Too much pain. So I walked. It didnt get better. On 5/20 I finally went to the doctors office. X-rays/MRI's showed the following Partially torn ACL Partially torn (Lateral?) Meniscus I cant say that I get this right but I believe she used the following words: Impaction Stress Fracture of the Tibialar Plateau.
adrenaline and sheer enthusiasm enabled me to complete the game but when i'd finished my left knee on the outside was extremely painful and swollen. i used ice (and beer) that nite and because it was the end of the season rested for about two months. when i started back training, the same left knee in the same place, outside left, was still sore. Stupidly i continued to play and play and play. now months later the injury has cleared up but i now have pain in both my knees at the front.
pain, burning and tingling down my calf right into my foot, some sensitivity directly behind my knee, and a hot, swollen, throbbing feeling in my foot. These symptoms increase when I am on my feet for longish periods and can become unbearable. The pain reduces if I take my weight off my leg and put my leg/foot up.
Recently I have been sitting for long periods of time at my computer, even dozing off and not laying down to sleep as long as I should. Today my right calf (same as the new knee) is really swollen and aches. Is this normal? Am I cutting off the blood flow from sitting so long? I know that NBC Host David Bloom died from a problem with his legs, where he was in a bad position for a long time. My wife is worried I might go in my sleep or something bad will happen.
My knee cap and area above the knee cap are swollen and stiff. I can't walk well and have a lot of pain when bending the knee, like getting up and down from a chair. Recently my calf started hurting upon walking. At times, the calf hurts more than the knee. I don't know if it's because I'm walking differently to make up for the knee pain or if there is something else going on.
When I wake up in the morning my left calf feels like it is going to explode. It is red (as is my whole leg) and slightly swollen. It takes about 3 hours after taking Norco for the pain to dull to bearable, the next dose of Norco does the trick and I am fine for most of the day. Is there something I can do to prevent the misery in the morning? Also, tonight my right knee got very warm to the touch. It is not very swollen and doesn't have any bruising from the surgery.
Needless to say I had manipulation done a week ago, and after going back to P.T. 2 days later, I am in extreme pain, knee is quite swollen and need to take my pain pills almost every 3- 4 hours. I am unable to sleep through the night without getting up to take a pain pill. I am back to work full time for the past two weeks and was doing fine until the manipulation. Now I can barely get through the day. Is this to be expected after the manipulation? I feel I am going backwards in my recovery.
I telephone a ortho doc for a apt asap. Since a few days have past now my right knee cap is swollen like a melon as if I had knee surgery but no pain down the calf just cant bend or move it a slight pain in the back. Is this from putting weight on it do to the left knee? Or is all of this a serious Vascular problem. Who is the correct doctor and WHY or WHY is this happen and in both knees and swelling in the one leg right and of course the left calf which is always there. Who do I see?
