Swollen gums viral infection

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen gums viral infection

swollen

Hi..I'm recovery from a viral infection, I've been extremely sick. I notice my gums are swollen and had white spots on my lips, tongue, and gums. The dentist gave me this mouth wash to help my gums. After two days of using it, my gums start turning white, is that a sign of healing??
Anyway, went to see the dentist and the dentist said it was a viral infection and gave me some antiseptic mouth wash said it would subside within a week or two. Thanks!
The doctor said that swollen gums may be caused my any viral infection as the body fights off the infection. It sounds like I have no reason to be concerned?
it causes her nose area to be swollen. we have looked at it and tried to scrape a little of it out and it is very painful to her. she did bleed a little when the stuff was removed. what is this or what could it be caused by?
On Monday I cut my gum while eating. By early Tuesday morning my gums were very swollen and I had swollen glands in my neck. I started running a low fever and having body aches. I also developed a sore throat. On Thursday I got a painful white bump on my tongue. By the end of the day I had two more. It is now Saturday and I have even more bumps. I went to the DR on Thursday. I tested negative for strep. He said it sounded Bacterial and gave me Amoxicillin of which I have now taken 5 doses.
He is not eating, and when I do get soft things into him like apple sauce he starts to cry and scream in pain. I am not sure if the swollen gums are a symptom of the throat infection? Is this common? He isn't himself, and I'm not sure if I should wait and let the prescription run its course for the 10 days, or go back to another Dr. Any help or info would be much appreciated. I am also giving him Childrens tylenol for any pain he is in. Thank you.
I have swollen lips ans swollen gums and had a fever a few days ago. Has anyone had these problems before?
My only symptoms appeared to be the white-yellow sores on the inside of my cheeks, the inflamed gums, the high fever, and swollen lymph nodes just under my jaw. My pulse was high and this was attributed to the fever. A week of antipyretics later, I had no sores and no headache. Three weeks later, however, my pulse was still high (it is normally about 60; it was then between 90 and 110) and I went to the ER again. An echocardiogram was done and they found I had a pericardial effusion.
Had wisdom tooth pulled eight months ago and developed sinus infection, second dentist said teeth great as well as gums healthy. Am I worried about nothing? No money to go to dentist unless it is a critical emergency.
I have 4 on my lips, 4 on my gums and 2 on my tongue... my gums are swollen and my tonsils have many white spots on them... i still struggle through eating even ice cream and have lost about 10 pounds (which is not a good thing when you have very little to lose)... i understand that it's a viral infection, but since it's lasted 6 days and tomorrow will complete the full week and my throat and mouth have not improved much i'm getting a little concerned... any help?
I can feel (with my tongue) that the triangular parts of my gums between my teeth are swollen. My question is - could the swollen gums just be a result of the inflammation in my mouth from the infection? Or perhaps all the zinc/menthol lozenges I've been sucking on have irritated my gums. Just an FYI - I'm taking Penicillin prescribed by my PCP in the case that this is bacterial. Thanks.
What it makes me doubt of her, maybe she was wearing a turtle neck sweater to hide the swollen lymph nodes or other evidence of infection with HIV in her body. This event happened in South America in the city of Bogota, Colombia 9 days later I had a cold, two months later I had a strange flu, the throat was not hurting, no fever, I had some headache, nasal congestion and little cough, it was a 3 days flu approximately.
Hello, I am a 23 yr old female and in (I think) July of 06 (certain about the yr) I had oral sex with a male. There were 2 other girls there w/ me and the guy and they each performed oral sex on him first. I insisted on using a condom but one of the other girls got his precum on the outside of the condom. At the time it did not register I guess b/c I proceeded to perform oral sex on him anyway. He said he could not feel anything and went limp so he took the condom off.
It was a severe ear infection.. ( swollen lymph nodes 9 times out of ten mean that there is an infection.. Teeth, Ears, Throat.. even a sinus infection..
My consultant decided it must be a mechanical problem with my jaw but I've never had jaw or teeth problems in the past. I still feel it may be a viral infection which may just go in time. I've decided to wait and see if it gets any worse and then go back to the consultant. Have you still got the problem or has it gone away without further treatment?

I have never had any suspicion of an infection by HS1 or HS2 before in my life. However, I had unprotected sex with a co-worker last week sunday. She had been complaining of seasonal allergy symptoms and had a few red bumps on her chin that she complained were acne. We only had vaginal intercourse and kissed. Within a couple days I had two red bumps on my chin that were painful to the touch, I too thought they were pimples and they cleared up in about 5 days.
So any clue as to what's going on? Do I have cancer? An autoimmune disease? Some kind of viral infection? What kind of doctor should I be seeking out? Gyno? Dermatologist? Internist? Someone else? Any and all information or advice is greatly appreciated. The hair loss is really starting to freak me out. Could the hair loss be caused by irritation/pressure from the intermittent swelling? AAHH!!!

I am 43yo male, and recently had US and CT scan of the neck to investigate two swollen lymph nodes which were present for longer than a year in my left neck. Several nodes were found on the jugular(mid) chain, many sub-centimeter and 5 >= 1 CM the largest ones were 2.26, 1.65 and 1.55 CM. They are on both sides of the neck and under my chin as well. Nothing else was found in CTs of abdomen and groin. I have a biopsy scheduled for next month, but have read myself into anxiety attacks.
My lymph nodes in my neck become very swollen and my cheeks, gums, entire mouth and tongue started to burn with pain and had what appears to be tiny blisters. This lasted for about 2 weeks with on and off again chills. Looking on the internet the symptoms appear to be that of a primary HSV1 infections. How can this be as I already get cold sores on my upper lip?? I got tested about 3 weeks after this incident and the doctor confirmed that I had HSV1 and negative for HSV 2.
Hey my name is Louis I'm 19. I've had some type of viral illness for about 23 days now I think. I don't know what kind it is but I'll walk you threw everything. It all started after Christmas I started feeling weak and not very hungry and I had this pressure in the front of my head before then "It started a week before cause I had the common cold." well after that I got better.
for sucessfull hiv infection to take place, the viral load of the particular partner has to be high this happens in only two cases in adv aids and not on meds and during seroconversion, and the virus cannot enter through healthy skin, and there are lots of biological factors to support it like presence of std etc , all these factors makes it a very difficult virus to transmit in a single exposure i really wonder if someone with a healthy skin got really infected with a single exposure , in case
I also am experiencing the end of my tongue being somewhat irritated, numb, and mapped. Some mornings, I wake up with swollen gums behind my front teeth; wondering if my tongue is causing that while I sleep! Anybody here having tongue issues along with lips and eyes? I've tried all kinds of topical things on my lips and eyes, but nothing seems to really work. This week, I'm trying the apple cider vinegar, as I've heard from other sources that this is really good.
A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread. A bacteria is its own living cell and multiplies and spreads on its own and is easier to destroy in that process. Speaking of outbreaks, influenza is finally reaching Palo Alto right around now.
I have the same problem as this red swollen itchy eyelids. Don't have allergies like this. I do wear contacts--why would they cause this? I haven't been wearing the contacts for days now....
It was not sore but rather felt like I had someone squeezing my throat, effective decreasing its diameter. I last Friday I finally went to a doctor and she said that it was a viral infection and on the way out the door (I had concerns it was mononucleosis). Sure enough, by Sunday my throat was returning to normal and I was feeling glad to get my full health back. But then came the swollen palate, which has just pushed me over the edge.
Perhaps a visit to the dentist would be a good idea as he could have an infection there , possibly he had had a viral infection also, check it all out Doctor and Dentist.
