Common Questions and Answers about Swollen gums tongue

swollen

I notice my gums are swollen and had white spots on my lips, tongue, and gums. The dentist gave me this mouth wash to help my gums. After two days of using it, my gums start turning white, is that a sign of healing??
I'm feeling much better, but have noticed over the past few days that my gums are very swollen and tender. The triangular area between my teeth is enlarged, and when I brush my gums they bleed. Could this be a result of the inflammation in my mouth from the pharyngitis? Could it be due to the penicillin I've taken, or the zinc/menthol lozenges? I've also just started using Listering (normally don't use mouthwash as I have a sensitive tongue) - could this be to blame? Thanks.
The soreness in my tongue and gums has already began to subside. I plan on reporting this to the FDA and found their website for reporting is not very user-friendly. I hope this helps you or someone else.

I saw a small teeth coming out from the end (probably the wisdom tooth) and the pain is turning from severe to fair. Right now, the gums are still swollen, and I'm beginning to have gum sores (which is treated using oral anti-septic), but the pain is bearable. As much as possible, I wouldn't want the tooth to be extracted, although it is unknown until when will the gums swell.
So, here is why I am writing this. I still have that sore throat but in my chest feeling and now my tongue feels swollen and my throat as well (So much so that I'm starting to snore at night-which my husband finds amusing), my whole torso just feels achey, when I wake up most mornings both sides just below my ribs in the back are ackey. Allergies?? Nothing?? Please point me in the right direction.
I see that im getting canker sores and my glands are swollen and painfull all through my neck and under my chin. My gums are sore too. Has anyone gone through this or might they know what it is,....
I am in my 60's and have only just started to have either a swollen face or, on the last two occasions, a swollen tongue, which all started in September. The first time I had a swollen tongue was 4 weeks ago and I ended up in hospital. I had already taken Piriton but it didn't help. At the hospital they gave me Prednisolone which worked very quickly and I was packed off home with another 2 days supply.
For the past 2 days it has become very painful to brush my teeth. When I am done I look at my gums and they are bruised. At first I thought they were bleeding but they are just bruised and really burn. The day before this started happening I noticed swelling under my tongue. I do not have a sore throat, nor am I sick. I just feel like I have swollen "glands" under my tongue. If there even are glands, I assume their are salivary glands there but not sure what I am looking at.
My tongue has been swollen for 10+ years, and prior to these new crowns, I did have some minor teeth separation. Also around age 10 I did break my upper palate, and I am now 52. What else could possibly be causing this separation? Thank you.
I have also gotten a few more ulcers to my tongue and some of my gums are swollen. I have lost 9 pounds since the start of this b/c of the pain to eat. Another symptom that I am thinking is related is that I have gotten a severe area of inflamation around my anus. Does hemorrhoids cause this?? Labs for ANA,B12,CBC,BMP,LFTs were all normal. CRP was 3.5(elevated). do you have any insight as to what is going on?? Nobody has any answers for me. Going to another ENT for second op.on Monday.
Sounds like it could be oral herpes. No, it's not the same as the STD herpes. It is very common. Children generally have it much worse the first time they get them. It is brought on generally by a fever. In adults it can be brought on by stress also. My dd had this about 3 months ago. It was not fun. Started out with fever then a few days later gums started swelling and got oral herpes "canker sores" on her tongue, gums, lips. My daughter stopped eating b/c of the pain.
My throat is no longer as painful as it was originally, but it is still very painful and colored the same way. Also, the infection has spread to my gums and gums feel smooth to my tongue, are red, black, and white, and are also very painful. Also, two more canker sores have appeared in the last 48 hours. I have an appointment to see my PCM at the beginning of next week. Is there anyway you could shed some light on to what is happening in my mouth? P.S.
I was wondering if I should be concerned with a slight sore throat with swollen sensative gums and small sores on my tongue? No fever. Have a hard time chewing with the gums and sores. It just started about a week ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

my gums near my wisdom teeth are swollen and my gums are red and my inner lips are swollen. is this becuase of the piercing?
Hi, what you are observing could be inflamed gums. Swollen gums could be due to local or systemic causes. Local causes like tooth infections, tooth abscess or periodontal disease. Some medications like dilantin and calcium channel blockers like nifedipine can cause swollen and painful gums. They are more common in smokers, in people with poor dental hygiene, with vitamin deficiencies and are known to be associated with stress.
Greetings, About two weeks ago I woke up randomly with what felt to be sore, inflamed gums near the first molars on each side of my front 4 incisors. I also noticed that the gums beneath them seem to have receded quickly. I also had several ulcers, one on the roof of my mouth, one under my tongue -- both of which feel as though they've healed up. I had a deep cleaning done a week ago -- the Dentist noticed a significant buildup of calculus on the back of my front incisors.
Herpes and HPV infection too should be ruled out with a history of unprotected sex and swollen lymph node. The tongue could be painful due to iron or multi vitamin deficiency. It could also be due to oral thrush or fungal infection. Contact dermatitis or reaction to some irritant in food can be another cause. Use glycerin gel and clean the mouth well and tongue with a tongue cleaner (if there are no patches on the tongue). Take iron and multivitamin supplement and see if they help.
Sorry to hear of your problem, I understand how uncomfortable it is, because I myself have also suffered from this as well as having a swollen tongue in the past I learned that Vitamin B deficiencies are one of the most common deficiencies that can affect mouth and teeth. So I bought Vitamin B12 tablets that you place one under the tongue from the health shop. And this helped. Because you are medications, some of these can cause dry tongue and can also cause Thrush in the mouth.
I currently am suffering from a sore tongue and swollen gums and lymph nodes on the left side of my mouth. My tongue has bothered me for about 2 months, now my gums and lymph nodes on that same side has been swollen. Could you please tell me what I can do to help this go away.
Now I've got about 5 sores on my bottom right side gums and down by my tongue. In addition, my cheek is swollen and sore, and my teeth on that side are sore when I try to bite. I haven't had the swollen, sore cheek or sore teeth with canker sores before. Should I see my dentist again?
Your dentist will give you a mouth guard and this will prevent you from chewing/biting on your tongue. I have the same problem, my tongue looks disgusting because of this. I understand what youre going through.
Dear None, Please try and relax. As it was said before symptoms are never a way to diagnose a possible HIV transmission. Anyhow a burning / tingling sensation is not a symptom of early infection and what you are experiencing is most surely due to anxiety. Furthermore, considering the unquantifiable small risk you have taken, one that is more theoretical than actual, you have as close as a 0% risk of getting HIV.
5 months ago I developed a large canker type sore near my gums. Now for the past two months I have had herpes only on the tongue. My tongue has gotten very swollen at times, has white blisters which make it painful to eat and drink. The swelling and blisters usually last a week or two and then go to a different area of the tongue. In the past 2.
