my right upper gums are red and swollen for the past 1 month.i got this after brushing. 2 days back i got pain in my swollen gums and i got puss and bleeding from that portion. after that the gums are lightly swollen and there is no pain now. i did'nt visited the dentist. can i get infection in my gums? what to do as a first aid and when should i visit the dentist? i also got root canal treatment for the tooth above which i got this gum problem.is there any problem because of the tooth ?

I have an area of my gums, upper left side, right beside a crown, where it swelled up. It's been swelled up for about two weeks now. There's no pain in or around the crown or the swollen gums, little discomfort, just a little swollen area about the size of a small pea, that's covering about half of the tooth with the crown.
