You could have something called herpes gingivostomatitis, which is inflammation of the gums from a new herpes infection. Your doctor should have done some tests. You need to follow up with her. I also had a sore throat for 5+ days last week, but I also had a stuffy head and a cough, so its tough to say if its just a virus for you. Your doctor should at least test you for strep.
From time to time I try stopping the Valtrex for a few days and the virus seems to come back in the form of swollen, painful gums (it's not terrible pain but annoying, especially when brushing or flossing). Each time I stop Valtrex, it seems to take longer for the virus to reappear but it almost always reappears in the form of swollen and painful gums.
I see that im getting canker sores and my glands are swollen and painfull all through my neck and under my chin. My gums are sore too. Has anyone gone through this or might they know what it is,....
She also had strep throat at the same time. It finally clear up. Now her gums in front top look swollen again almost like it is thickening. She just loss one of her top teeth and the second soon to follow (by tomorrow I would say). Could this thickening be part of the tooth lose or could this be gum disease?
Just because one has herpes doesn't mean that EVERYTHING is herpes related. Quite honestly swollen/painful gums are not symptomatic of herpes at all. Blisters/lesions are. See your provider for a proper diagnosis.
It was not fun. Started out with fever then a few days later gums started swelling and got oral herpes "canker sores" on her tongue, gums, lips. My daughter stopped eating b/c of the pain. Make sure you push fluids as it is common for them to get dehydrated during this time. If you are able, take them into the doctor. There isn't any anti-biotic or anything they can give them since it's a virus. But, our doctor prescribed a small dose of tylenol with coedine.
My throat is no longer as painful as it was originally, but it is still very painful and colored the same way. Also, the infection has spread to my gums and gums feel smooth to my tongue, are red, black, and white, and are also very painful. Also, two more canker sores have appeared in the last 48 hours. I have an appointment to see my PCM at the beginning of next week. Is there anyway you could shed some light on to what is happening in my mouth? P.S.
On Monday I cut my gum while eating. By early Tuesday morning my gums were very swollen and I had swollen glands in my neck. I started running a low fever and having body aches. I also developed a sore throat. On Thursday I got a painful white bump on my tongue. By the end of the day I had two more. It is now Saturday and I have even more bumps. I went to the DR on Thursday. I tested negative for strep. He said it sounded Bacterial and gave me Amoxicillin of which I have now taken 5 doses.
it stayed for some days. Then after 4 weeks of the encounter I'm having severe problem with swollen gums. The swollen gums problem is staying for last 2 weeks. My question is whether this painful swollen gum can be symptom of any STD? I'm also feeling flu and I know swollen gum is a symptom of HIV. I'm so afraid. Please help.
After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred. Also taking Pepsid. Throat neg for strep and mouth ulcers neg for Herpes. This helped for about 3 days but then the pain has come back.
Hello, About 4 months ago, I got a fever, sore throat, really swollen gums, and a blister on my lower lip. I was on vacation at the time, and as soon as i got back home, i went to my doctor and she swabbed for strep throat. turns out, it was. however, my swollen gums never went away and they were kind of receding (which makes me think that I also have gingivitis) I'm really wondering if all this has caused some form of blister to form on my lip.
I have a swollen lymph node on my groin.. eczema all over my body, and sore gums could this be sympthoms of HIV or Herpes?
Herpes labialis (also known as "Orolabial herpes") is an infection of the lip by herpes simplex virus. In many cases, it causes small blisters or sores on or around the mouth that are commonly known as cold sores or fever blisters. Sores associated with herpes labialis typically heal within 2-3 weeks, but the virus that causes them is not removed from the body.
A part of my gums is swollen and red. There are black specks on it. I don't know what it is. It's located beside my front teeth behind them. I tried looking it up but all i got was sexual diseases such as herpes. I have never had intercourses so it can't be that. What is going on?
His symptoms the past few days has been swollen gums, canker sores, and his gum turning black and it came off. He also says it sometimes hurts to breathe and he can only eat soft foods because of the pain. Drinking water causes a sharp pain to occur. He kissed his girlfriend when she started to get a cold sore, but this is odd because he's been really sick... please help.
I ended up getting gonorrhea and was treated for that last week. Two days ago I woke up with my lips swollen, there was 3 or 4 red spots on my upper lip. Since then they've turned white, and are very painful. I also have several other spots in my gums, sides of my mouth, etc that are also painful and white. I notice on the roof of my mouth there are red bumps that were not there yesterday. I'm afraid these will also turn into this painful white spot.
Since that time it's been three weeks I have been plagued with mouth and lips numbness. No sores, swollen gland, or fever. I thought produm to HSV1. I think this would be my first OB since I don't remember ever having a fever blister. However I had been to the dentist a couple of days prior to this kiss for a new filling. Dentist says may have hit a nerve. No sores or blisters.
I thought it came from me not shaving in a couple of days so I disregarded it. About a day later I found it painful to urinate. A headache, swollen gums, and sore throat followed shortly after. My headache is gone now, but my sore throat and painful urination remains. I have no bumps on my genital area, that is the only thing keeping me sane right now. I just got tested yesterday, but those results won't be back until next week.
Cold that night/few days later convinced I had herpes. Slight burning in perineum/headaches/fatigue/ muscle aches/shooting pain in left buttock. Been on internet for last 3 days! Burning perineum more w/sitting.Epsom salt baths helped. No swollen nodes, itching & never noticed any lesions, blisters, or ulcers & have looked daily. 4/5 Went to PP clinic (7 days post exp) Said looked fine but prescribed Valtrex just in case & I began to take.
Get another herpes titer in a couple of months so you can out this behind you. Also, see a doctor (skin, perhaps) who actually knows what herpes looks like and get as definitive an opinion as you can. Whatever your genital rash is deserves to be treated in its won right. Take care. Dr.
This leads me to my question no oral sex was performed and she claims no sti's or std's. I have had no symptoms of having herpes but, today I woke up with a white line on the tip of my tongue and a numb feeling as well as sensitivity at the head of my penis, then at noon while urinating I came across a pimple about 1" done from the head of my penis smaller than a pin head right on top of a vein on the top left side of the shaft.
Do an internet search for herpes testing and there are multiple sites that offer Herpes testing, probably in your town if not close by. You would have to pay out of pocket but this would offer answers in lieu of obvious blisters that would require a culture test by a doctor. Average cost around $130 for IgG. If you do decide to get tested do a little research and get a good IgG test for herpes at 12-16 weeks past exposure. I know this seems like a life time but it is the reality of herpes.
Canker sores occur inside the mouth or on the tongue or gums. They are presumed to be viral, but no one knows for sure. They are not contagious. Herpes generally occurs outside the mouth, at the lip margin. Only once in a while do people get the severe primary attack, in which there is 103 fever, swollen glands, ands bleeding gums. Until it dries up, herpes is contagious by direct contact. Hope this helps. Dr.
I recently hooked up with 4 strangers between August 25th and September 11, 2011- via Craigslist's "no strings attached" section. I believe there was one major sting attached...HERPES Come to find out later, one of these "girls" (tranny) was a prostitue. "She" only gave me a blow job. Then had protected vaginal sex with 3 females, although I did lose a condom inside the last girl. Also had unprotected oral sex with the other 2 of the females.
ok for the past month I have had a sore, swollen throat. At first I hought it was just a sore throat cause my sinus have been acting up. Well, the past few weeks I have had bad breath (I brush my teeth(front, back, top and tongue) I have also noticed some smooth spots on my tongue (they change day to day, size and shape) than I realized some little red spots on my tongue with white rings around them, I have also been feeling naucious a lot, now for the past couple of days my gums have been sore.
I also know that I didn't get it from the dentist but with my gums having so many problems I just wonder if it was another infection in my mouth and not the HSV1. My gums are still a little swollen 14 days later. That is why I was asking abot seeing a dentist to verify. I have a dental implant that has been infected which is why the injection 6 months ago. I am also assuming that since taking the Novirax that would be why I would show up negative on a type specific test now?
*What feels like a soreness on the roof of my mouth and a slight swollen area, but does not look like a 'sore' or a blister. *Sore throat. *A few red 'dots' on my inner cheek, irregularly shaped but some maybe 2mm in diameter...more red dots on back of my throat. All of this is on the same side of the body. I don't have a fever. No blisters or marks OUTSIDE of my mouth. Given all that, is this still unlikely to be an initial oral herpes outbreak?
Over the course of three months, the third time the sores showed up on my tongue, my gums got swollen as well as my tongue. That same day near bedtime, my eyes would BURN whenever they would get wet and were inflammed as well. I thought I had herpes and had spread it to my eyes while I was putting my contacts on after I had my fingers inside my mouth to look at my gums and after I had washed them.
