Now my fevers gone and I figured it wasn't my wisdom tooth. My gums are swollen any tongue is extremely white and has soreful bumps on it and canker sores under it and I have what looks like a canker sore on my lip but it's not painful at all.
What is the difference between Canker sores and herpes? How can you tell which is which? Are they both contagious?
While I have been under a lot of stress lately, it seems a bit too coincedental to have canker sores and swollen lymph nodes at 4 weeks after possible exposure. I guess I'm looking for some insight into risk assessment. Is there any reason to get a test now, or should I wait until the six week mark? Additionally, if I am infected, how much of a risk am I putting other people at if I have protected sex with them?
I thought maybe I was just getting canker sores (had these before too). Now I've got about 5 sores on my bottom right side gums and down by my tongue. In addition, my cheek is swollen and sore, and my teeth on that side are sore when I try to bite. I haven't had the swollen, sore cheek or sore teeth with canker sores before. Should I see my dentist again?
This can result in swollen glands. Also it may not be canker sores but cold sores caused by Herpes virus. Please talk to your doctor and get tested for the problems mentioned. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Fever Blisters and Canker Sores Fever blisters and canker sores are two of the most common disorders of the mouth, causing discomfort and annoyance to millions of Americans. Both cause small sores to develop in or around the mouth, and often are confused with each other. Canker sores, however, occur only inside the mouth--on the tongue and the inside linings of the cheeks, lips and throat.

Sounds like it could be oral herpes. No, it's not the same as the STD herpes. It is very common. Children generally have it much worse the first time they get them. It is brought on generally by a fever. In adults it can be brought on by stress also. My dd had this about 3 months ago. It was not fun. Started out with fever then a few days later gums started swelling and got oral herpes "canker sores" on her tongue, gums, lips. My daughter stopped eating b/c of the pain.
Alcohol can trigger canker sores if these are that. It also could be another viral infection causing mouth sores too. Yes it could be oral herpes but until you are seen monday it'll be too late to get an accurate culture to find that out. Avoid acidic foods, sour foods and alcohol for the rest of the weekend and see if that helps.
A total of 8 painful canker sores in a 3 week period. Wow! I have never in all my 46 years experienced so many mouth sores! And never in my life have I ever eaten so many nuts. I am absolutely convinced that the sores were a direct result of the peanuts. Right at the moment, I still have two of the sores in the height of their painfulness, and I'm not totally sure whether or not they've stopped coming. The others have receeded.
The sores sound like aphtous ulcers(canker sores) They can be very painful and usually last for 7 to 10 days. If in fact this is the correct diagnosis without seeing them I usually prescribe a steriod ointment called KENALOG IN ORABASE which does a good job in relieving the discomfort. As far as your TMJ is concerned it can get worse with time especially if there is osteoarthritis involved.
But, now I have several small sores on my lips and my gums, tongue and sides of my mouth are full of sores. They are white but do not look like canker sores. They look more like patches of dead skin. But they hurt like hell! I cannot eat or brush my teeth. What should I do? Would baking soda help? Any info would be appreciated. How can I get rid of these sores in my mouth?? I am really concerned that I got HIV from this act since I have really poor oral hygiene (my gums always bleed after I brush my teeth, I have gingivitis, and I get a lot of canker sores). Even though I don't remember the escort having much of any vaginal fluids during the oral sex, it could have been there and entered my bloodstream through my bleeding gums. My questions: 1.
You know, I noticed I got a lot of canker sores while I was prego too...there must be something there!
I have gotten canker sores (HSV1) once in a while when I was young, but in more recent years (I am in my late 20's) they have become very severe (sometimes engulfing my mouth and tongue). Just in the past week or so, I've felt them my throat, making it painful to swallow. It is obvious my throat has something going on, as the skin is looks pale, "bloodshot" and somewhat swollen.
The gland under my ear would swell up along with my gums when there was a sore. Eventually the sores stopped coming but the gums and gland would still swell and throb 2-3 days a week, this has never stopped, and has gotten more frequent and more intense from this point on through present day. Feb 2008 Extreme throbbing pain in gums. Still in the same spot, no sores. Went to a new dentist since the last one did not like answering questions.
My symptoms include the white patches on the tongue and sores on my cheeks and gums. In addition, once in awhile I get standard cold/canker sores on my lips. I eventually made my way to an oral surgeon who biopsied my tongue (ouch!). I was negative for dysplasia, but the biopsy was inderminate for the root cause and didn't help the pain go away. I was referred to the oral medicne clinic at the teaching university hospital near by.

Which when you brush your teeth and your gums bleed, the iron in your blood gets in your mouth which in turn causes the metal taste. I also wanted to mention, alot of times bleeding gums is gingivitis and the mouth sores might be canker sores from an overabundance of acid in your stomach, which also can cause a metallic taste from what i hear. Hope this helps at least a little.
on this forum we don't speculate about non-HIV causes of symptoms. Canker sores and other sores in the mouth are very common, and the vast majority of the time do not indicate anything serious. So you can forget HIV as a cause of your canker sores. If they continue or you remain concerned, see your doctor about it.
I have not had any other HIV related sypmtoms, though I did experience tiredness back in late March to early June, but I am in college. Also, I had a few canker sores and some persistent gums bleeding from whatever when I brush and its been really scary. I have not experienced fatigue or anything else. I had taken antibiotics for my UTI back in April. Any adverse reaction to my body? And I was taken Ibuprofen for pain relief, would that cause an adverse affect on my WBC or body?
I just want to thank you before for anything that could be helpful. 1st - HSV1 19 yrs. All OB's have been on my lip. Today, I noticed that my throat had a lump and was painful to swallow. Then my mouth, gums & cheeks felt tingly. Weird. As the day went on, I noticed that my cheeks looked swollen. Inside there was a large red area. No single blister. Just was large & red. Bilateral. Then upper & lower lips felt swollen. membranes look red. Throat still hurts.
For a few days I have had a canker-like sore on the inside of my cheek. I didn't think anything about it since I've had sores like this before. Well this morning I woke up with my mouth hurting. Other than the canker, which is painful, there is skin peeling all the way around from where my gums meet my teeth, on top and bottom. This is painful too, and I have spit out a few rather long pieces of flesh. There is no bleeding, but just pain and it is starting to swell.
Vaginal symptoms that look like herpes (herpes causes inflammation, cuts, or sores), canker sores in the mouth at least three times per year, and inflammation in the blood vessels in the eyes. It can take years for enough of the symptoms to show up and they usually don't show up at the same time. You really need to fight for answers.
His tongue has 3-4, and he has them on his gums all over his mouth- also, his gums are red and very swollen. I gave him lysine, children's motrin, and some medicated chap stick for his lips. This morning, I noticed that behind his 3 front teeth is GREEN (almost looks rotten), and when I tried to clean it with a cotton swab, he started to bleed. Has anyone seen a cold sore turn green? Please please let me know... I am really worried and can't afford to go back to the doctor right now.
His symptoms the past few days has been swollen gums, canker sores, and his gum turning black and it came off. He also says it sometimes hurts to breathe and he can only eat soft foods because of the pain. Drinking water causes a sharp pain to occur. He kissed his girlfriend when she started to get a cold sore, but this is odd because he's been really sick... please help.
