I have been reading a lot of postings on here and many have been complaining of glands being swollen, jaw pain, jaw clicking, abdominal pain, white tongue, white areas on inside of cheek. I am under the impression that some virus is going around and the doctors really don't have a grasp on what it is, so different docs are giving different reasons for the symptoms.
However spinal compression will not. The glands in the neck are present on either side of midline, under the jaw, behind the ear, and above the collar bone. If they are swollen, you will be able to feel them easily. I would suggest that you consult your PCP once to see if there are swollen glands or not and to investigate the cause of pain. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
I get terrible pains around my chest particularly just before the girl thing and last week I could hardly breathe in or out the pain was so bad, but I don't get swollen glands. But I do get it frequently each month. As you know I'm on a premature menopause and the doc told me the fluctuating hormones cause all types of painy fluey symptoms particularly before or during the girly thing.
My husband and friends try, but they really don't understand how I can still feel so bad after all this time. Or how I can possibly still be having so much pain from swollen glands in my neck after so much medicine and time. Seems to stump my doctor too!! And I'm not sure, but I don't think that's a good sign when you stump the doctor!
The prednisone helped my swollen tonsils, but the glands in my neck keep getting worse. No ibuprofen helps the pain of it, which is causing me a lack of sleep. Is there anything else I have possibly overlooked? I'm not exhausted all the time at all. my entire neck is killing me and behind my ears and head, occasionaly my jaw and armpits too. The headaches are barely managable and I am not sure what else it could be.
I have a lump in my neck on my left side around my jaw line. This mass moves around and when it moves it sometimes makes it impossible to talk or anything until the mass moves. It hurts really bad, a few years ago I went to my regular MD and they sent me for a CT scan and then to a Ear Nose Throat Specialist and he said that it was just a swollen salivary gland. Didn't give me meds or anything to reduce the swelling.
I also started the other day with a small rash on stomach it looks more like an irritation not sure if it has anything to do with my glands swollen. I also had ear pain in the beginning but better now with the Flonase. Why would my glands stay swollen? How long does it usually take to go down? Could it be cancer? Thanks.
Now I have swollen lymph nodes just below my right ear and constant pain in the back of my neck that feels more like swollen glands than any thing else. I just had my hearing tested and it is fantastic. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Home Care If you have swollen lymph nodes, the focus is on treating the underlying cause. Soreness in lymph glands usually disappears in a couple of days without treatment, but the nodes may not return to normal size for several weeks after the infection has cleared. Generally, if glands are painful, it is because they swell rapidly in the early stages of fighting an infection.
Hi, I'm 19 years old (female - non smoker/drinker, fit) and for the past month and a half I have had unexplained swollen glands. They will come up where my jaw and ear meet about once or twice a week, last for a day or two and then go back down and are always in the same place. The one under the left ear is tiny, mobile and painless, but the one on the right is fixed, painful and about 3cm in length and can be visibly seen.
I have also had constantly swollen glands at the back left side of the neck and near my left armpit since fall. The upper part of my neck swells up a lot, too, sort of like a huge double-chin running from one end of the jaw to the other. My throat feels tight, like everything inside is swollen and pushing against each other. It doesn't feel like strep and doesn't really hurt. I have been on two different antibiotics -- cephalexin and ??? (might have been doxycycline) for infection, in Oct.
But now I have another very severe pain flare up in the sinus, jaw, neck witih swollen lymph nodes again. And this time, the Amoxil is only working 60% on my symptoms and I've been taking it 7 days now. Now I will be finding a new dentist, probably at the University dental school in my city. But really the question comes, since those Xrays showed nothing before, what can this really be?
I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Hey guys, maybe someone can help me with this, about a week and a half ago i found this lump in my neck rught under the jaw towards the neck, its been sore and swollen, the pain seems to traven down the right side of my neck a little bit, the left side hurts ocassionaly but i cant seem to find a similar lump there.
Symptoms are usually sore throat, dizziness, and even what feels like a fluttering heartbeat at times. Lately, in addition to the usual symptoms, I've begun having swollen glands on one or both sides of my neck, just below my ears and jaw line, extending downward an inch or two. They're sore to the touch and it's hard to turn my neck because of the pain and stiffness. Is this normal or is it something I should be concerned about? Any thoughts are welcome!
since around my 3rd week on triple tx (inc) I've had swollen glands in the back of head/neck and in front of and behind my ears... is this a sx?
My right eye has developed double vision in low light (my optomitrist said this is because my pupil gets larger than previous lasor surgery flap at night) Three weeks ago I started getting constant pain in the upper back part of the right side of my neck and along the side of the right neck (by the bg arteries) and even under my right lower jaw. I have no swollen glands but constant fullness, pressure and discomfort.
There is now pain in my right shoulder. And pain in my right knee area. The pain seems to be muscular. not joint. Also I have pain in my right ear. and there is a very sore spot right under my right ear. Also my menstral cycle is very messed up. It starts right on time now and starts getting lighter around day 5 and acts like its going to be the end and almost stops but then I start getting cramps again and it starts up again and then goes to brownish/red discharge everytime I wipe.
Hello, For the past few weeks I've had pain in my neck that started in the back of my neck but then seemed to spread to the sides. My glands are swollen under where my jaw and neck meet and today I've had some pain in my left armpit... I was at the doctor last week but he though it was bad posture.. I feel like it is not just that. The pain can be intense at times and I've been taking pain killers to ease it. Naturally, I'm concerned.. any help or advice would be great.
When I first mentioned to my doctor that I had pain in the neck and tingling in the fingers... he felt it was probably due a disk in my neck and wanted me to have an MRI... at the time I wasn't too worried about it and didn't botherso much, so I didn't bother to go. However, now that I feel the lymph node I will go back to see what he thinks. One of my questions are... actually to Rob... do you have a history of problems with your teeth?
left neck swollen cheek, swollen headaches and ear pain dizziness and fatigue.
I began with pain in my jaw bone, just under teeth 20/21 towards the front of my mouth. Suspecting root canal, antibiotic was issued for 7 days. After visits with 2 endo- specialists, root canal has been ruled out, as well as additional cavitiesl. Pain is bad enough that Tylenol #3 was issued. 4 weeks later, pain is still there. Second round of Antibiotics issued last thur, as well as Advil as an alternate ( anti-inflamitory).
Its not round and doesnt really have a shape - its just along the right side of my windpipe and a bit towards the back (inwards, where my artery is) The pain in my neck was increasing, getting more intense and much more frequent. It does not hurt to touch, but if I lean forward and come back up - I get a weird sensation in my neck. If I cough or sneeze, I may get a slight dull pain, perhaps a sharp one - it really varies.
Could sinus problems cause a swollen gland/lymph node feeling in the neck? It's on the bottom left side and runs up into my chin/jaw and causes pressure in my left ear. My former ENT told me that when my sinuses act up so do my adenoids. I mentioned it to my new ENT and he did not have a word to say about it. Now I've had this since St. Pattys Day and my allergies, and sinus congestion have been out of control. Is this caused by my sinuses or is something else causing it?
