However spinal compression will not. The glands in the neck are present on either side of midline, under the jaw, behind the ear, and above the collar bone. If they are swollen, you will be able to feel them easily. I would suggest that you consult your PCP once to see if there are swollen glands or not and to investigate the cause of pain. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
I have sharp pains like lighting on the left side of my head from bottom of my neck where the glands are to behind the ear and some times they are so sharp that it leaves the area kind of numb. They last about 2 seconds. My neck is very tender and the doctor thinks that it might be related to my acid reflux problems. can anyone help me.
Recently, the glands under my ear, next to my mastoid process are swollen and painful. I have no drainage in my ears. I went to a hematologist/oncologist who sent me for blood work and CT scans. I had mono in 2006, and sometimes it shows up in my blood work again and again; however, my blood work this time is all normal. My CT showed that I do have enlarged lymph nodes in my neck, but the hematologist/oncologist doesn't seem to think it is lymphoma. I am meeting with an ENT on Tuesday.
These days, I found pain swollen glands in my neck, behind my ear and under groin. Today, I went to see the doctor, he confirmed the swollen glands. And he also found I have sore throat, I dont feel anything about it. All the swollen glands cannot be seen by appearance. I dont have fever, no diarrhea, no weight loss. I also did the normal blood test, which showed WBC, RBC and all others are good. I am still concered abou HIV infection. I am wondering the risk of being infected by HIV.

Ie wouldn't it be likely to have swollen glands in his neck and groin as well as arms? Are lymph nodes usually detectable by touch? Sight? We cannot feel any individual 'nodes' just a general noticable swelling and pain beneath the arms. There have been no other symptoms that we can think of. Are swollen glands/nodes also associated with other std's?
Now I have swollen lymph nodes just below my right ear and constant pain in the back of my neck that feels more like swollen glands than any thing else. I just had my hearing tested and it is fantastic. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

My husband and friends try, but they really don't understand how I can still feel so bad after all this time. Or how I can possibly still be having so much pain from swollen glands in my neck after so much medicine and time. Seems to stump my doctor too!! And I'm not sure, but I don't think that's a good sign when you stump the doctor!
You could have her come see me in PAMF Urgent Care. Sore throat, swollen glands, ear pain, ringing can all be due to GERD, post-nasal drip, and other reasons Eye soreness is less common, which can be due to migraine or other headache syndromes Many treatments for these causes are available.
The prednisone helped my swollen tonsils, but the glands in my neck keep getting worse. No ibuprofen helps the pain of it, which is causing me a lack of sleep. Is there anything else I have possibly overlooked? I'm not exhausted all the time at all. my entire neck is killing me and behind my ears and head, occasionaly my jaw and armpits too. The headaches are barely managable and I am not sure what else it could be.

I also started the other day with a small rash on stomach it looks more like an irritation not sure if it has anything to do with my glands swollen. I also had ear pain in the beginning but better now with the Flonase. Why would my glands stay swollen? How long does it usually take to go down? Could it be cancer? Thanks.
I have been getting terrible headaches that, I think, originate from the glands swelling and causing muscle pain on my scalp. The aching on my scalp eventually prompts migraine-like symptoms. (I think the swelling is intensified when I drink wine, but that might be coincidental instead of causal) The back of my neck and base of my scalp are always tender to the touch. I also have tenderness in my under-arms.

I just wanted to say that I have had problems with my lymphnodes behind my ear. I went in today and had IV antibiotics and pain releavers for the pain. It's very painful and I can relate. The doctor says It's from some infection, somewhere in my body. Most likely caused by open sores of some sort. I also get boils, so that could be the cause. I'm on amoxicilin. Will see what tomorrow brings. IF her condition does not go away in a couple days...
I have a lump in my neck on my left side around my jaw line. This mass moves around and when it moves it sometimes makes it impossible to talk or anything until the mass moves. It hurts really bad, a few years ago I went to my regular MD and they sent me for a CT scan and then to a Ear Nose Throat Specialist and he said that it was just a swollen salivary gland. Didn't give me meds or anything to reduce the swelling.
the left side if my neck is very and noticibly swollen, at first i thought it was just my glands due to a minor ear infection, as i regularly get them, however since, the pain has spread further down my neck, and is now down to my coller bone and throat, in a morning i cant talk or open my mouth wide enough to eat anything and takes a couple of hours to loosen up.
Along with this, I also have a stuffy nose and am unable to breathe through the nose. The glands on my neck are very swollen and large, to the point that they are visible in size. There is no cough really. My ears also have pain. This has been going on for at least the past year. I have sought doctors help many times and they tell me it's viral and will go away, and they can't give me anything for it. It's affected my ability to work, to be physically active and to do a lot of things.

Hi, I'm 19 years old (female - non smoker/drinker, fit) and for the past month and a half I have had unexplained swollen glands. They will come up where my jaw and ear meet about once or twice a week, last for a day or two and then go back down and are always in the same place. The one under the left ear is tiny, mobile and painless, but the one on the right is fixed, painful and about 3cm in length and can be visibly seen.

I started having popping and pressure in my ears 6 months ago along with swollen lymph nodes in neck and have recently started having dizzy spells after I pop my ears. One doctor says I have lupus, another says reflux and gastritis and another says allergies.... None of the medicines (allergy, nasal spray, mucinex, Pepcid), life style changes (diet and exercise), or holding my nose to pop my ears 10 to 12 times a day have helped and my lymph nodes continue to get larger.
