This morning I am so swollen with swelling down to my cheekbone under the right eye. Anyway, I still wake up every morning with swollen eyes. They have gotten much better than it was 2 years ago, but they're still swollen. I have a lot of eyebags (allergic shiners) and it makes me so insecure that I wear glasses everyday to cover them! Since I am a 15 year old girl who goes to school, in the morning I don't have enough time to spare 15 minutes for cucumber on my eyes or anything.
The swolleness is especially bad when I wake up in the morning. I have been putting in eye drops(Optivar) and taking Allegra at night. It doesn't seem to be working. The swolleness goes down slightly during the day but the itchiness does not. Just a couple of days ago over the weekend, both the sweeling and itching went away. That Monday the itching started again in the late afternoon. The next morning they were swollen. I have stopped wearing make-up also. Please.. HELP! Thanks!

He couldnt look at light. His eyes were very irritated. I didnt see any type of puss just that they are swollen and that he is in so much pain.He took the contact out. And there isnt any thing in his eye. Now that he is sleeping i can see his eyes look swollen still. Mainly around the lids. I'm trying to think of anything else... I know when he had me look to see if anything was in his eyes..
9 months ago I moved to Portland, OR. It's known for allergies and though I'd never had them before, noticed them almost instantly - sneezing, swollen & watery eyes in the morning. They seemed to get better for a while and then in Jan they got terrible - only this time it was only my eyes. They were watery and moderately red, but most noticeably they were swollen every morning, particularly the lower lid, under my eye.
i have a cold. runny nose. sore throat, but my eyes this morning were swollen . one more than the other and on the less swollen one the eyelid has a bump in it, . any suggestions? , taking an antihistamine, plus eye drops. allergy, eye drops, plus doing saline nose rinse. ice pack, eyes also itch a little. any suggestion?
We were on holidays a fortnight ago with an early morning flight, later that day I could feel almost a stiffness developing in my left eyelid, by the next morning the eye was up! Few days later , same week, we had a bit of a sand storm, thought I'd got a littel sand in my right eye, sure enough next morning right eye was up!
I have a recurring condition that affects both of my eyes (more the right than the left). It begins with a burning sensation, then I awake in the morning with swollen, itchy eyes that are red on my eyelids and below my eyes almost to my cheek bones. I am left with scaley, sagging skin above and below my eyes, and bags of fluid that collect under my eyes right above my cheek bones. My skin responds as though it has been burned by crusting over and collecting fluid.
Before I went to bed last night my eyes were really red and when I woke up this morning my eyes were swollen on the top and bottom. What are some ways to make the swelling go down. I went to a heath center today and they gave me some Medicine and it is working but my eyes are still swollen. What are some other things that I can do to prevent the itching and make the swelling go down faster???
Sometimes the morning when i wake up, my eyes are extremely swollen. So swollen that my eyelids completely disappear. I literally look like the alien from the ET movie. However, I dont have any other symptoms. No redness or tearing. Sometimes they are a little itchy. THis use to happen with just one eye but now its happening to both. I usually put ice on it to make the swelling stop and it works after a couple of hours.
I am 22 years old and recently came down with my first case of shingles on my upper back on my right shoulder blade, which spread slightly to my right side of my chest. I had it for a week before i figured out what it was. So I was extremly cautious and did not touch it except to clean it with apple cider viniger and put an anti itch cream on it.
Please help me identifiy the issues between Hypothyroid and the swollen eyes due to allergies. First i was given Bendyrl through an IV. And it had taken down the swelling. Than the next morning i awoke and i had a severe redness , swollow eyes, and very puffy condition to my whole face. Returned again to the same emerengcy room. And this time theyput me on 50mg of predizone for five days which did not help and i continue to take Allergra each and everyday now for a month.
Some swelling is normal, but my face, lips, and eyes would swell up too in the morning. I hope in your case it's just normal swelling!
What would cause severe (almost swollen shut) eyelid swelling in the morning (uponn waking) - the eyelid skin is stretched and once the edema is gone, they skin is very red and painful. We have pretty much ruled out allergies. Of note, is a head trauma sustained 1.5 years ago (back of head hit pavement twice) - am still undergoing various treatments to relieve pressure in head - could manipulation of the nerves in the back of my head/neck cause eyelids to swell? Any help is very welcomed.
My daughter's right eye got swollen as she noticed when she woke up in the morning. It is not watery or itchy, but just big. Apparently there was nothing that could have hurt her eyes. I was reading about Chalazion, etc., on the internet. What would be a quick remedy? Warm cloth soak, ice pack, or see a doctor?
There is irritation and reddening of the eye but this seems to only occur in the morning. I have used allergy drops to no avail. This probably isn't related but i get a popping sensation in my nose.Any response would be very appreciated.
It is important to see an MD ophthalmologist in person to try to determine the cause. In the meantime, try some cold compresses over eyes, keep head elevated and watch salt intake. Keep contacts out for now. This could actually be related to things like hypertension, kidney or liver disease, heart disease or could just mean you have very tired irritated allergic eyes. Should be easy for your ophthalmologist to figure out.
My daughter who is 52 years started last august with red, itchy, dry eyes and shes seen her DR as well as her optomitrist he gave her an antibiotic seemed to be ok for a week then there was a funeral in the family and now this morning her eyes are swollen almost shut so as a concerned mother I wonder if it could be stess as she has her own srressful business.Could you help.Thank you.
About a month ago i tool her to the doctor and the gave her a antibotic that had penniclin in it. She woke up the next morning and her eyes was swollen shut. Took her to the hospital and they said that she had a allergy reaction the the pennclin.. my parents have always asked me why she has bags under her eyesthat have a red and blue look.. for the past month everytime that she wakes up her eyes are swollen on the top part of her eyes. She looks like she has eyes the size of a golf ball.
They are usually swollen when I wake up in the morning and sometimes they might go down a little after the day goes by. It started out around my eye lids and now its around and under my eyes, down to the sides of my nose and cheek bone. Its is very irritated and Im miserable. I can't think of anything I have used new that would have caused an allergic reation.
Seems to only happen when my eyes are swollen in the morning. If I look far right, I will get a small black dot to appear in my right side vision, and if I look far left I will get a bigger, but more vague blob towards the center of vision. Could this just be the same effect you get when pressing on your eye with your fingers (with your eyes closed)? You know, the one where if you press hard enough on your eye you will see a block blob appear (maybe with a ring of white light around it)?

Is it only the lid? You could put a cold compress on the LID. When somethng like this happens you can also call the poison control center 24 hours a day. The doctor will review this post. I am not a doctor?
Yesterday my under eye bag hurt , but it was not swollen. Then this morning when I woke up it became swollen and hurts but it is not red.
I woke up yesterday morning with the top of my nose and inner eyes very swollen. I do have problems with acne so thought it was blind pimples as had couple pimple in that area. Now I am not so sure, it is the next morning and the swelling has increased to the eyelids and top of my cheeks, there is also darkness in the corner of my eyes. I have no allergies or other symptoms that I know of. It looks as if I have been punched in the face, that extent of swelling.
