Common Questions and Answers about Swollen eyes every morning

swollen

I left LA yesterday with my eyes a little more swollen than usual. During the flight they got progressively worse. This morning I am so swollen with swelling down to my cheekbone under the right eye. Could this be an infection? Will it be safe to fly home?
I woke up this morning and my eyes were swollen, i could still see and they were not itchy or red. They weren't even half way closed but i would like to know if there is a reason for it?
Anyway, I still wake up every morning with swollen eyes. They have gotten much better than it was 2 years ago, but they're still swollen. I have a lot of eyebags (allergic shiners) and it makes me so insecure that I wear glasses everyday to cover them! Since I am a 15 year old girl who goes to school, in the morning I don't have enough time to spare 15 minutes for cucumber on my eyes or anything.
9 months ago I moved to Portland, OR. It's known for allergies and though I'd never had them before, noticed them almost instantly - sneezing, swollen & watery eyes in the morning. They seemed to get better for a while and then in Jan they got terrible - only this time it was only my eyes. They were watery and moderately red, but most noticeably they were swollen every morning, particularly the lower lid, under my eye.
Please help me identifiy the issues between Hypothyroid and the swollen eyes due to allergies. First i was given Bendyrl through an IV. And it had taken down the swelling. Hello, my name is roman and I have been suffering with an eye problem that has prevented me from fully living my life as i wake up every single day with swollen eyelids. The area under my eye is also swollen. The left eye is always worse. It also seems like i look out of my left eye most of the time. The area between my eyelids has widened. I am now also beginning to feel pressure and sometimes even pain behind my left eye.
5%) and his eyes are swollen, upper eye lids are red and he cannot open his eyes. We took him to ER last night and they said it could be conjunctivitis and prescribed an eye ointment which we put on this morning approx 5 hrs ago. He also got some benedryl last nite at ER. He still is not opening his eyes and the swelling seems to be a little less than last night. What do you recommend we do?
Seems to only happen when my eyes are swollen in the morning. If I look far right, I will get a small black dot to appear in my right side vision, and if I look far left I will get a bigger, but more vague blob towards the center of vision. Could this just be the same effect you get when pressing on your eye with your fingers (with your eyes closed)? You know, the one where if you press hard enough on your eye you will see a block blob appear (maybe with a ring of white light around it)?
Both my eyes get bloodshot every night. When I wake up in the morning they are still bloodshoot but they clear up with in about an hour. They stay clear until about 7:00 pm. My left eye has a swollen eyelid and had a stye for about 2 months. One day this eyelid became very irritated until a bb sized white deposite came out of the eyelid. The eylid is still swollen and when I metioned it to my eye doctor he told me to put a hot compress on it. The compress did not help.
The next day the tops of my eyes became very sore, dry and a bit lumpy, and then the next morning when I woke up my eyes lids were very swollen. I have not, to my knowledge, ate or drank anything different, or used any different cosmetic products.
It's not all the time, but just a few random times throughout the day, especially if I'm tired. Then this morning, I rolled my eyes at a coworker (joking around), and I had a stabbing pain in my lower right eye. I figured it was an eyelash or something, but there's nothing there. 15 hours later, I still have that stabbing pain when I blink and move my eye a certain way. What in the world could this all mean?
I have had an ongoing problem with my eyes or eye swelling for the past 3 months when I awaken in the morning. Not every day just 2-3 times a week. They don't itch. Kinda burn. Sometimes swelling goes down. Somedays it is the right eye sometimes left eye. THIS morning both eyes. I haven't tried any new makeup or food. I don't know what it is.Please help????
Every morning I wake up with both upper eyelids puffed up and swollen. It is much worse if I have cried, even slightly the day before. The swelling eventually will go down if I use compresses but then I am left with loose, crinkly skin. I have tried all sorts of things- no water before bed, elevating my head, eye lubricant(my apt. is dry), clariten. Some days are definitely worse than others. I suspect I have an allergy but how does one figure that out?
My eyes have been swollen for the last two weeks, especially the left eye. It is worse in the morning. It is almost closed and white clammy stuff is in my eyes. What is causing this and how can I get rid it. I went to my allergy and asthma doctor. I was told to make a dip with a teaspoon of baking soda and water; with a cotton ball apply to my eye every 4-6 hurs. This has not helped at all.
I don't have the issue with swollen lips but I do have the issue with swollen and reddened skin around my eyes. It comes and goes just like you described for your husband's lips. I've decided it's an allergic reaction to the interferon so I take Zyrtek (OTC allergy med) every day and I do believe it's helping me.
At first i just thought it was dust etc but over the last few weeks the condition has got worse. Every morning when i wake up my eyes are really puffy, eyelids appear swollen, they feel sore and slightly bloodshot. This carries on throughout the day but slightly improves throughout the day, but then worsens again towards the end of the day. They are itchy a lot too.
About 5 years ago I tried wearing contacts but I had a bad reaction and the whites of my eyes became swollen and red and I had to go the the emergency room. I have not worn contacts since but my eyes remained red. I have been diagnosted from conjunctivitis to staff infections. I have been prescribed anibiotic ointments, steroid ointments and steroid eye drops. I have seen optometrist, opthamalogist (from 3 different health care providers) and gone to an eye clinic (Doheny Eye Center).
My mask fits well, and my CPAP pressure is nominal (8.2), but every morning my eyes are invariably red and itchy, and the lids are a bit swollen. I have no am discharge/crusting, and no history of ocular allergies or external eye conditions. This is a real problem for me, and I need the CPAP. Patanol and pm lacrymal ointment have been of no help.
The only symptoms that I have that my neuro hasn't see before is a eye that droops and a swelling I have around my eyes. The eye is only slightly droopy (makes me look tired, but is permanent) and the swelling is random and comes and goes. He has seen it happen to me while in his office. Sometimes my other eye droops more than the original droopy eye, but it doesn't stay that way. It's such a swelling that it has created creases in my forehead near my eyes.
But at night i have trouble sleeping as they dry right out again, and in the morning my eyes are still itchy and red and mucousy in the inside corners. Am I going to have a problem like this forever? Are there some tests to figure out just what the hell is going on with my eyes? Can dry eyes really just come on over night like that? Should I be worried about any other kinds of viruses or bacterias that the antibiotic might have missed during immediate treatment?
It seemed to hold in the moisture and it kept the eczema from returning. I now do this every morning and evening. Also if my eyes begin to water (sometimes my contact lenses causes this) I apply the water/vaseline intensive care treatment as well so that the skin does not dry up. After trying tons of things, this was my savior. Good luck!

Hoping that in turn it will bring some of the pressure down so that he can then rx me the other med and take both. i goback to see him on Tuesday. He was not able to dilate my eyes because of the pressure being high?? He said it could make it higher?? i thought the major reason the IOP would be high would be from Glaucoma........He took the time to expalin to me that in AutoImmune Disease such as MS it can cause things to go hay - wire at anytime for no apparent reason.........

Every morning I awake with a very swollen face. I've tried propping my head up with pillows but that didn't stop the extreme eyelid swelling and puffy face ( cheeks, nose, lips ). I now sleep sitting up and although not as bad , I still awake with a very swollen face. I feel more post nasal dripping during the night sleeping up and awake sometimes during the night coughing. Is there a medical term for such facial swelling during sleep and the build up of mucus in my head.
My wife has something similar but eventually we tracked it down to when she eats jalepeno peppers. Every time she had it her lips would get swollen. Try keeping a food diary for a while to see if you there is something that is causing it.
