Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with dry eye I received drops, received instruction wipe the lid in the morning with the eyelid scrub wipe to prevent infection and use a warm compress and massage my eyelid just above my eyelashes. My eyes aren't tearing anymore and I wake up with the whites of my eye white and clear they aren't tearing anymore.
Avatar n tn a steroid ointment clears it up but the tearing returns after two to three days when discontinued. my eyelid is uncomfortable and tender and I am concerned about using a steroid this long - 5 months, I have also seen an allergist at their suggestion. the non steroidal ointment prescribed helps with the skin of my eyelid but not the tearing. I have stopped ALL PRESCRIPTION drugs at this point. My eyelid is tender with some redness and is weeping.
Avatar f tn Would primary ocular herpes be more likely to present itself as a stye vs looking more like a cold sore/ blister? No pain, swollen lid or tearing… just a stye and blurry eye… for weeks?
480510 tn?1208217001 I woke up yesterday morning to a very swollen left eye; my upper eyelid, around the outer corner, and part of the area just below my eye. There is a small area, a little smaller than a dime, that almost appears to be a dry patch that is pink in color. I put an ice pak on it and the swelling went down, but the spot remained. This morning I woke up and my eye wasn't as swollen, but it was moderately puffy. I put it on ice again, swelling went down, and spot is still there.
570004 tn?1226980196 It seems to come in cycles, getting better, and then worse, and then better again, but never fully resolving. The main symptoms are swollen eyelids (especially in the morning but persisting throughout the day), redness, gritty sensation, and extreme dryness alternating with excessive tearing. It is very noticeable, when it flares up, people are constantly asking me if I'm OK (they think I am crying).
Avatar n tn Now a little more than an hour later my eye is very uncomfortable, eyelid is still very swollen and vision is blurry. it does still feel like there is something in there, but nothing like before. I couldn't even open my eye then. Should I just assume that this is the after effects of having the sand in there scratching my eye? Its not red and tearing like before but I thought it would feel ok after the drops wore off.
Avatar f tn If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out. Hope that helps....
1440587 tn?1284040516 Starting two days ago my right eyelid was hurting a a little swollen. It has gotten more painful and much more swollen since then. If I flip my eyelid up it is very very red and it looked almost like a little red bump underneath - that was yesterday. Today it is so swollen I can't even flip the eyelid up. I called the eye dr and he can't fit me in today. What could it be? What should I do? I took benadryl last night thinking it may be an allergy but it didnt help at all.
Avatar m tn You have to gently rub your eyelid in the morning to relieve the area with the problem from the eyelid. This decrase the chance of the superficial layer of the cornea from being torn off. If this fails you will need a scraping of your cornea or laser removal of the superficial layer of the cornea to allow healing in this area. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn Im just confused because although I wake up with a swollen eyelid there is no pain and no itching. Would an allergic reaction to something cause upper eyelid swelling?
Avatar m tn I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Avatar f tn Hello about 3 days ago my bottom eyelid was tender to touch or put eyeliner on,it was not discolored or puffy/ yesterday my btm eyelid under eyelashes was swollen looked like fluid was trapped/Wednesday am my bottom eyelid was almost swollen shut &very sore no discoloration or krusties / i have a little white pimple like spot on the inside middle part of bottom eyelid ..... what is it????
Avatar f tn I often wake up with a large, swollen eyelid. This has happened for over a month now. It alternates between both the left and right eye, top or bottom eyelid, and sometimes even both. There is no pain, and the swelling is normally reduced after using a cold compress... I have not noticed any patterns as to when the swelling occurs, and went weeks without makeup to see if that would help (if it was an allergic reaction.) Nothing seems to be effective, what could be the problem?
1618305 tn?1298758246 My left eyelid has been swollen for three days, there is no pain, no bump or itching, but i do feel slight pressure on my eye. It is swollen evenly through and very noticable compared to my other eye, i have tried warm compresses and iceing my eye but nothing has worked. It has not gotten worst but the swelling is still there and really worrying me. I do not have insurance so i can't see a doctor. How long is this going to last and what should i do?
Avatar f tn Over the last six months i am having recurrent swollen eyelid, only one eye at a time but can be either eye, usually lasts 1 or 2 days, only upper eyelid, no pain, itchyness, blurry vision or bloodshot eyes. Had reoccured every 2-3 wks, have had 9wks now when it hasn't happened, and yesterday it reoccurred. GP has tested for thyroid problems, all clear. I have psoriatic arthrits, my consultant says its not related, can you help?
Avatar f tn 9 months ago, I had a bit of trouble with multiple styes forming on the lids of both my eyes - there were red, swollen, tender bumps (total four) on my lid margins for months (and even now, three of them are still there, but just smaller but still red). I've seen many doctors who tried a plethora of drugs: included are tobramycin eye ointment, moxifloxacin eye drops, and cephalexin.
Avatar f tn Recently, I have had this swollen like pimple thing on my eyelid. It was starting to go away but it came back even more swollen. I'm not sure if it's stye..

Avatar f tn About three to four days ago my eye began to feel like I had been punched in the face on the left side. I woke up the next morning to find a swollen eyelid, and a few lumps about the size of a piece of rice to a pin head. I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. Its since been two days and it gets more swollen everyday, today being swollen shut. The outside is purple and red and the inside is bright red and the lumps are growing.
Avatar f tn For Years I occasionally had tears comming out of my right eye when I blow my nose ( before the surgery) I have never worried about it much and forgot to tell my ophthalmologist before the op. But now the eye is tearing constantly, Could i have an infection? or is to do with what I think was a blocked tear-duct. Should I give it more time to settle? ( I have an appointment to see the ophthalmologist in 3 weeks time), or should I see him asap?
Avatar f tn You could be producing too many tears due to some irritation or allergy - or more commonly there could be a problem with the excess tears making it into and through the nasolacrimal duct system and into the nose. This can be due to loose or droopy eyelids, previous eyelid surgery, previous nose surgery or trauma, or simple blockage of the nasolacrimal puncta or duct.
Avatar f tn If your eyelid problem is due to inflammation or infection you will need to see an ophthalmologist for treatment. If it is due to the effects of age then you will need to see a plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon.
Avatar n tn started with pressure like in medial aspect of superior eyelid area with sensation of limited upward gaze. but gaze was ok developed over the week in pain in the opthalmic region of the trigeminus, swelling of eyelid, mild redness, tearing and initially mild visual loss - like a glass with mist water. pain continued and all symptoms other symptoms continued.
Avatar f tn I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
