Swollen eyelid shingles

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen eyelid shingles

swollen

Avatar n tn The rash is from my forehead over my right eyebrow into my head but luckily no blisters below my eyebrow. My eyelid has been gradually becoming more swollen and so it is drooping very badly where I am having trouble with my vision and it feels as though something is irritating the eye surface. I am having alot of pain around the eye and also my ear.
Avatar f tn If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out. Hope that helps....
1440587 tn?1284040516 Starting two days ago my right eyelid was hurting a a little swollen. It has gotten more painful and much more swollen since then. If I flip my eyelid up it is very very red and it looked almost like a little red bump underneath - that was yesterday. Today it is so swollen I can't even flip the eyelid up. I called the eye dr and he can't fit me in today. What could it be? What should I do? I took benadryl last night thinking it may be an allergy but it didnt help at all.
Avatar n tn Im just confused because although I wake up with a swollen eyelid there is no pain and no itching. Would an allergic reaction to something cause upper eyelid swelling?
Avatar n tn On the 21st I woke up to severe pain and a few more tiny blisters on my top lip and additionally, blisters on the right side of my nose, right cheek and under my right eye, on my lower right eyelid, upper right eyelid and a severe splitting headache only on the right side of my head. I called my general practitioner and she had me come in. Based on her viewing on the lesions, she was fixed on it being Herpes 1. She ordered a blood test and prescribed Valtrex.
Avatar m tn I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that there is a link between developing uveitis (anterior - both eyes) and then a year later developing shingles? My doctor said there are so many possible causes of uveitis that they don't bother trying to determine the cause, they just worry about treating the case. I had drops and then eventually had to have two rounds of injections in my eyes as the flare up was stubborn.
Avatar f tn Hello about 3 days ago my bottom eyelid was tender to touch or put eyeliner on,it was not discolored or puffy/ yesterday my btm eyelid under eyelashes was swollen looked like fluid was trapped/Wednesday am my bottom eyelid was almost swollen shut &very sore no discoloration or krusties / i have a little white pimple like spot on the inside middle part of bottom eyelid ..... what is it????
Avatar f tn My blood work last week indicates I have not contracted the disease. I have had shingles and recurrent herpes zoster outbreaks on my eyelid. Both were very painful, and I do not wish to add genital herpes to my experience. My questions are: 1. What is the risk of contracting herpes over the long term? I understand the m to f transmission is 10%/year, but how does that translate to multiple years (50% in 5 years?)? 2. Just how bad is this disease?
Avatar f tn I often wake up with a large, swollen eyelid. This has happened for over a month now. It alternates between both the left and right eye, top or bottom eyelid, and sometimes even both. There is no pain, and the swelling is normally reduced after using a cold compress... I have not noticed any patterns as to when the swelling occurs, and went weeks without makeup to see if that would help (if it was an allergic reaction.) Nothing seems to be effective, what could be the problem?
1618305 tn?1298758246 My left eyelid has been swollen for three days, there is no pain, no bump or itching, but i do feel slight pressure on my eye. It is swollen evenly through and very noticable compared to my other eye, i have tried warm compresses and iceing my eye but nothing has worked. It has not gotten worst but the swelling is still there and really worrying me. I do not have insurance so i can't see a doctor. How long is this going to last and what should i do?
Avatar f tn Over the last six months i am having recurrent swollen eyelid, only one eye at a time but can be either eye, usually lasts 1 or 2 days, only upper eyelid, no pain, itchyness, blurry vision or bloodshot eyes. Had reoccured every 2-3 wks, have had 9wks now when it hasn't happened, and yesterday it reoccurred. GP has tested for thyroid problems, all clear. I have psoriatic arthrits, my consultant says its not related, can you help?
Avatar f tn Recently, I have had this swollen like pimple thing on my eyelid. It was starting to go away but it came back even more swollen. I'm not sure if it's stye..

Avatar n tn Additionally blisters on the right side of my nose, right cheek and under my right eye, on my upper/lower right eyelid, a severe splitting headache only on the right side of my head and swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my neck. I saw my regular doctor. She was fixed on it being Herpes 1. She ordered a blood test and prescribed Valtrex. The same day my ophthalmologist prescribed Doxycyclin. The same day, my girlfriend went and had a blood test for Herpes. She turned up with a negative.
Avatar f tn About three to four days ago my eye began to feel like I had been punched in the face on the left side. I woke up the next morning to find a swollen eyelid, and a few lumps about the size of a piece of rice to a pin head. I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. Its since been two days and it gets more swollen everyday, today being swollen shut. The outside is purple and red and the inside is bright red and the lumps are growing.
Avatar f tn If your eyelid problem is due to inflammation or infection you will need to see an ophthalmologist for treatment. If it is due to the effects of age then you will need to see a plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon.
Avatar f tn I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
Avatar f tn It seemed that just the inner part (toward the nose) of the eyelid was red and swollen but the skin above my eyelid has also drooped over my lid. The redness is gone and although my eye still feels like something is not quite right and the lid is a little more dry than normal, it looks all better except for that drooping skin. Is that due to swelling? Will it get better? I am only 24, so I don't think that skin should be drooping already (& on just one eye).
Avatar n tn or could it be an infection? there is no redness, itching and the eyelid just looks swollen, but not red nor bruised.
Avatar m tn I'll add as much information as possible to my topic. If this isn't in the right forum section, please move it to the correct one, but read my post first. I guess this could also go in the allergies section. I am nearly 16 years old, now a Junior in High School, and have had problems with bumps and swelling on my eyelids since the 4th grade. I woke up this morning to my right eye being half open. Looking in the mirror, it's swollen yet again.
Avatar f tn I used olive oil in my eyelid... my eyelid skin has loosened... before that i had faced an eyelid infection,A DIRT ENTERED MY EYES .....i don't know what to do....please help me..... i don't want these swollen, drooping eyelids.please help me......
Avatar n tn All was going well 3 days post surgery and then eye pain got worse and extreme nueralgia began in forehead/scalp nose on right side and eyelid became very inflamed.. The drops (a steriod and an anti-biotic) burned for much longer too than the first 3 days?. Returned to Dr. at day 5 and he suspected possible herpes zoster/shingles of the cranial nerve (trigeminal nerve). He also said the cornea wasn't healing as much as it should have which I believe made him suspect shingles even more?
Avatar f tn This does not sound like shingles of the eye. You should see an EyeMD. Were you treated with antivirals for the shingles? Dr. O.
