Several months ago I started using make up again, had no problems, and then out of the blue, again, my left eyelid got swollen, then red, then itchy and then scaley. The skin on my eyelid is so stretched now that even when it's not swollen, it droops over my eyelashes. I went to see an ophtalmologist again recently, but he said he it was probalbly from sleeping on my side (which I did not really buy).
Some days I wake up with no pain, while others I need to keep my eyebrow very raised due to my eyelid being so swollen, and I also feel pressure around my upper right cheek and in my right ear I get random stabbing pain and ringing. I also feel like my eyesight is off, especially on days where the pressure is particularly bad it seems like I become very sensitive to light and it is hard to look at people in the eye.
When I was leaving here, I took pictures of my eyes - my left eyelid was red, itchy and swollen and the right one was normal. After I arrived in Poland, my eyelid slowly started to heal. I did not use any medication, just the hypoalergenic eye cream. A week later my eyelid was back to normal, I wore my regular eye makeup and once was even too tired to wash it off so I had it on for 24 hours. I had NO REACTION whatsoever. One can only imagine how thrilled I was to have my eyes back.

Over the last six months i am having recurrent swollen eyelid, only one eye at a time but can be either eye, usually lasts 1 or 2 days, only upper eyelid, no pain, itchyness, blurry vision or bloodshot eyes. Had reoccured every 2-3 wks, have had 9wks now when it hasn't happened, and yesterday it reoccurred. GP has tested for thyroid problems, all clear. I have psoriatic arthrits, my consultant says its not related, can you help?
Can you have an allergy in one eye that causes swelling of the upper eyelid throughout the day? My eyelid swells (upper lid only) throughout the day (less swelling when I first wake up) and feels heavy. Grittiness in the swollen eye (actually both eyes at times) - but no swelling on the other eye. Please help with your thoughts! Thanks.
If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out.

However, I feel pain coming from top eyelid of my right eye when I gently touch it, and feel pain when I blink. The pain is in one spot of the top eyelid. The pain spot it the to right hand corner of the right eye (corner away from the nose).
Keep in mind that the pain is in one single spot of top eyelid. Meaning, if I gently touch any other part of top eyelid of the right eye, I DO NOT feel any pain. The pain is coming only form one spot which is top right hand corner of the eye.
It seemed that just the inner part (toward the nose) of the eyelid was red and swollen but the skin above my eyelid has also drooped over my lid. The redness is gone and although my eye still feels like something is not quite right and the lid is a little more dry than normal, it looks all better except for that drooping skin. Is that due to swelling? Will it get better? I am only 24, so I don't think that skin should be drooping already (& on just one eye).
I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.

I am nearly 16 years old, now a Junior in High School, and have had problems with bumps and swelling on my eyelids since the 4th grade.
I woke up this morning to my right eye being half open. Looking in the mirror, it's swollen yet again.
I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Hello - I have a swollen upper eyelid (for over one month now). My optometrist and medical dr. have advised this is some sort of allergy (I am allergic to mold, pollen and trees). I have been given allergy meds and steroid drops but with no success. Eye is less swollen in morning (looks normal) and then gets worse as I go through the day. Can an allergy cause only one eye to swell for this length of time?
Hello about 3 days ago my bottom eyelid was tender to touch or put eyeliner on,it was not discolored or puffy/ yesterday my btm eyelid under eyelashes was swollen looked like fluid was trapped/Wednesday am my bottom eyelid was almost swollen shut &very sore no discoloration or krusties / i have a little white pimple like spot on the inside middle part of bottom eyelid ..... what is it????
Suggest you add a antibiotic lid cleaner like Ocusoft Foam Eyelid cleaner or TheraTears SteriLid foam eyelid cleaner. Both available over the counter. Us one not need both; use at least 4 times/week when shower/bathe.
You may need to get a new opinion about the cause from an Eye MD with a specialty in cornea and external disease.

I have not noticed any patterns as to when the swelling occurs, and went weeks without makeup to see if that would help (if it was an allergic reaction.) Nothing seems to be effective, what could be the problem?

About three to four days ago my eye began to feel like I had been punched in the face on the left side. I woke up the next morning to find a swollen eyelid, and a few lumps about the size of a piece of rice to a pin head. I gave it a day then went to the after hours where they gave me drops. Its since been two days and it gets more swollen everyday, today being swollen shut. The outside is purple and red and the inside is bright red and the lumps are growing.
I looked up some pictures and I found out that my eyelid resembles one that has blepharitis but my eyelashes and tears are fine, it just looks like it. I woke up this morning and my eyelid was very dry and slightly itchy, but when I checked in the mirror, I had several creases in the lid and my entire eyelid was tremendously swollen. The rash that was originally only around my eyes had also migrated towards my entire face and I can also feel it develop on my back.
