Swollen eyelid gland

Common Questions and Answers about Swollen eyelid gland

swollen

Avatar n tn I woke up 2 days ago with a sore eye/eyelid and it's tender to touch. The eyelid itself is a bit swollen, but other than that no specific symptoms. Any insight as to what may be going on? The most common result I see is stye, but I don't have a pimple or bump of any kind.
Avatar n tn When I woke up yesterday 17 hours ago my left lower eyelid was swollen and painful. There is a little redness. I am wondering what this is? Swelling has not gone down. Avatar n tn My bottom left eyelid has been swollen for 3 or 4 days. I just woke up with it. This has happened to me a couple times before but only for a couple minutes. It went away by itself. But this one has not yet. Any advice doctor? Have any idea what it might be? Anything will help please. I'm too scared to go to a doctor though.
Avatar f tn I ALREADY SUFFERED LOT OF IRRITATION IN MY EYE. MY UPPER EYLID HAS SWOLLEN A LITTLE, WILL IT BE RESTORED OVER TIME? OR WHAT MUST BE DONE? CAN IT BE RESTORED OR NOT?BUT THE SWEELING IS NOT TOO HUGE, BUT IT CAN BE CLEARLY SEEN NEAR.
Avatar m tn Hi John, I went to my local GP (from england here) and he said my eyelid is swollen, He asked me all these questions and I said no (e.g. Is it itchy, is it painful etc) He gave me these Pills that I should take once a day and go back to him if it isnt better in 3/4days.
Avatar f tn One time leads to little irritation (itchiness), but warm compress and cold compress get it over in a couple of day. In 2014, she woke up with a swollen eyelid (eye infection on eyelid)! Is the hormone at puberty a factor as she is producing more oil? How to prevent that from happening? Should I have her use diluted baby soap to wash her eyelids daily? Or some OTC eyelid wipes? Or warm compress twice a day?
Avatar f tn m assuming you do not wear contact lens. the most common cause of this is an infected or inflammed eyelid gland. Home treatment would consist of warm compresses (can use hot wash cloth but reusable eye pad heated in microwave is better, artifical tears and clean the edge of your lid with ocusoft plus lid cleaning pads or ocusoft plus platinum. These are over the counter and do not require RX. Most major drug stores have them come in foam cleaner also see link http://www.amazon.
1439997 tn?1283991287 The next morning i woke up my eye was still swollen and I had a small knot under my eyelid so I assumed it was a stye and put hot compresses on it. After about 3 days the swelling was down but the knot has gotten bigger and is very painful when I touch it. It is very noticeable! Im starting to get worried about it, so should I see a doctor or any advice about what to do or what it is would be very helpful? Thank you in advance!
Avatar n tn For almost 3 yrs now, I have had a swollen upper left eyelid. It occasionally is accompanied by dull deep pain in my eye and sinus/septum also. For the last 2 yrs I have seen a variety of opthamologists, neuro-opthamologists, etc. Recent (less than 1 yr) MRI of orbit and brain was normal. Clinical exams have all been normal. However, every MD does acknowledge that there is swelling there, they just dont know why.
Avatar f tn THE most common thing this could be is a third eyelid infection or cherry eye. This is if the growth or bump is on the inside corner. On the outside of the eye this could be an eyelid gland cyst and again - common. They don't need a biopsy. Treatment of cherry eye is very straightforward and consists of surgically repositioning the gland.
Avatar m tn It fits the description of a blocked Meibomian gland which is a eyelid gland located on the middle of the lid behind the lashes. You can try warm compresses or cleaning your lids with TheraTears SteriLid eyelid cleaner or Occusoft eyelind cleaner.
Avatar m tn Id like to know whether the white cells can enter the meibomian gland by difussion through its wall or all I have is a meibomian gland blockage and the gland wall has broken releasing the oil into the eyelid tissue and thus causing an inflamatory reaction. Im currently using chloramphenicol and cortisone with no signs of improvement.
Avatar f tn My eyes ever since I can remember go red and itchy so I rub them then they go all swollen with a what looks like a film of jelly under them. When I wake up I have a thick green mucus in my eye under my bottom lid but they are always leaking like my tear ducks don't have a stop tap so I can't really wear make up to cover the darkness under my eyes from after they have been swollen.
Avatar f tn the minute red bump has gone(disappeared). BUT THE REGION 0F EYE LID NEAR MY INNER EDGE HAS SWOLLEN A LITTLE, AND MY EYELID IS CREARLY BECOME VERY ERECT AND INVISIBLE. IT LOOKS PARTIALLY LIKE A CHINEASE EYE!!! I CANNOT DIGEST THIS AT ALL. I CRIED A LOT. STOPPED USING EVERYTING,WASHED MY EYES WITH WATER. even when i cried, the right eye inner edge didn't produce any tears at all, only my left eye did. I COULD NOTICE A NEW FAT TISSUE DEVELOPING IN THE INNER EYELID REGION,DOMINATING IT.
Avatar f tn My eyelid is swollen and when I flip it up, I can see a little white bump on the underside of the lid. I was recently diagnosed with strep throat and wonder if my antibiotic will help if this is an infection. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I do have a swollen eye at the moment because of a cyst appearing on my bottom eyelid, which was caused by a blocked gland. I didn't mention this in my post as I wasn't sure it would have a caused a lump in my cheek. I will wait it out and get back to this post. Again thank you for your response.
Avatar f tn If it's neurological there shouldn't be any actual swelling of the eyelid involved, hmmm if the eyelid is swollen then it 'could' make the eyelid just look like it's drooping down, have you seen your GP about it yet? As aspen mentioned it could be an infection or even a reaction bug bite on the eyelid, if it's been a few days and it's still swollen it'd be worth getting your GP to check it out. Hope that helps....
491928 tn?1266177733 Its not big yet, its pretty much just a little swollen not a bump or anything yet but pretty darn painful already. I searched the internet for answers and they all say its treatable at home and to go to the doctors if it persists or gets like really bad. It also said theyre super common but I still dont know how to just make it go away already what do i do?!?!?! By they way I've only had it for about 3 hours now. when i woke up this morning i was perfectly fine.
1440587 tn?1284040516 Starting two days ago my right eyelid was hurting a a little swollen. It has gotten more painful and much more swollen since then. If I flip my eyelid up it is very very red and it looked almost like a little red bump underneath - that was yesterday. Today it is so swollen I can't even flip the eyelid up. I called the eye dr and he can't fit me in today. What could it be? What should I do? I took benadryl last night thinking it may be an allergy but it didnt help at all.
Avatar f tn ve had repeated sties in one spot on my lower eye lid for years and recently had several times when the little pimple would be present and I could see the pus in the gland inside the eyelid. I could gently pull the eyelid to the side and all the gunk would easily come out. Now I have a white bump/ line area inside the eyelid with no 'head'. The 'thing in your eye sensation' is gone after 36 hours, but I can still see it.
Avatar n tn I think I’ve had a cyst under my upper eyelid since early October. I bought a new mascara and I got too close to my eyelash follicles on one of my eyes…as a result it swelled up (it went away within a day) and developed a little bump near my top lash line. Over the next month it was a regular occurrence to wake up with this swollen eye but it would go away within a couple hours or a day. Things escalated at the beginning of November when I noticed I had lost some eyelashes where the bump was.
Avatar n tn Im just confused because although I wake up with a swollen eyelid there is no pain and no itching. Would an allergic reaction to something cause upper eyelid swelling?
Avatar n tn My upper left eyelid has this pimple like buildup. it has no eye and it does not hurt and it does not have any puss. I tried to squeeze it and it is kinda hard. it does not bother me but it does affect my eye appearance and is very annoying. What can it be and what can I do to get rid of it? I had it for a couple of months now.
Avatar f tn A stye is an eyelash follicle or eyelid oil gland that becomes clogged with oil, debris, or bacteria. Severe ones may have a yellow spot in the center. The basic treatment is warm compresses to the stye for 10 minutes x 4/day, also antibiotic ointment. Let the stye drain on its own, do not squeeze it or you could spread the infection. Also avoid any eye makeup and contact lenses until this has cleared up. Many people get these and they are fairly common.
Avatar m tn I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Avatar n tn No way to tell for sure but the most common thing tha would cause this is infection of an eyelid oil gland called a stye. This is usually treated with warm compresses and antibiotic eye drops prescribed by an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Try and get in to see an Eye MD or have your family doctor arrange a consult.
