Avatar n tn After having contacts for a year my left eye got an infection and I noticed my left eyelid was swollen. I was given antibiotic drops and I think I was on them for about a month and it made my swollen eyelid and the infection go away and I was back on contacts again.

Avatar m tn Upper eyelid is swollen, with dilated pupil ( not maximum dilation, but can be spotted), and now alsa eyelid spasms, there were also small internal hordoleum on. Pressure Left is 14 after steroids (Doctor nr 2), Right 13. Refraction L +0.25 , R -0.25 Dry eyes. Antihistamin drops and tablets didn't work, steroids also. 6824259 tn?1385136354 Anterior blepharitis which is caused by bacteria (staphyloccal blepharitis) or dandruff of the scalp and eyebrows (seborrheic blepharitis). It may also occur due to a combination of factors, or less commonly may be the result of allergies or an infestation of the eyelashes (mite). Posterior blepharitis which is caused by irregular oil production by the glands of the eyelids (meibomian blepharitis which creates a favorable environment for bacterial growth.
Avatar m tn Every so often I get very swollen upper and lower eyelids and my eye goes bright red. It is always the left eye. I have had one opthamologist treat me for Herpes Keratitis while another for chronic blepharitis (I do have seborrhheic dermatitis). What can I do to head off these attacks? I do warm compresses and lid scrubs, but can I use steroids like Tobradex when I fell an attack coming on? Often they seem to be preceded by a stye. I'm suffering through one now and very anxious.
Avatar f tn You mentioned visits to the dermatologist and ophthalmologist and you are exactly on the right track with that. Blepharitis (eyelid inflammation) may be caused by inflammation, bacteria, tumors, environmental conditions or allergies. Blepharitis may also be related to systemic disease or medications, either ocular or systemic. From your note, it seems the specialists have narrowed down your problem to possibly allergies, alopecia and perhaps trichotillomania, if I understand correctly.
Avatar f tn One is of any allergic reaction and the second is of blepharitis. Blepharitis is an inflammation of the upper eyelid in response to any infection or allergy. Dietary factors in some individuals (caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods, tobacco) may also cause blepharitis. Apply warm compresses on the eyelid and keep the area clean with frequent washing. Also avoid applying any eye makeup till the symptoms get resolved.

Avatar n tn Some cases of blepharitis are very difficult to treat. You mentioned dandruff, so this may be a seborrheic blepharitis. This is a chronic condition that sometime is very difficult to treat. Warm compresses before lid hygiene with pads ( most patients do do it correctly-our staff frequently has to teach the patient a few times), oral doxycycline or Oracea (slow release type of doxy). Azasite rubbed into the lashes twice a day for two weeks after lid hygiene, a mild topical steroids, etc.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to seborrheic dermatitis, blepharitis especially seborrhiec blepharitis, icthyosis or leprosy. Blepharitis is an ocular disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the eyelid margins. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get all these possibilities evaluated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn While laying in bed I noticed a small bump on my cornerlower eyelid that was painful. (very tiny tiny bump) next morning woke up to crusty eyelashes, white part of eye slightly swollen, and pinkish color eye and swollen upper eyelid. Went to eye dr he wasn't sure what the issue is, informed wasnt pink eye nor a stye, but prescribed maxitrol to use twice a day.
Avatar n tn If not, I suggest an ophthalmology consult for this as this will need a complete eye examination. This may be a case of blepharitis. Blepharitis may be due to a bacterial infection. It may also be associated with seborrheic dermatitis . Seborrheic condition my present with some degree of scaling in the area. The scaling may be noted in the eye lashes. Is this applicable to your mother's case?
Avatar n tn Again on the outside of the lid, not underneath. My eye does not itch, is only mildly red, and just a little bit swollen, my lower eyelid became very dry and flaky. I am a nurse and I asked a PA what he thought they were and he said styes. I don't know if I believe his diagnosis. I thought styes only developed around the inside of the eyelids? I have been treating my eye with Tobradex ointment, and massaging the ointment into my eyelids. Also, I have not been wearing any eye makeup.
Avatar m tn Cardinal features are freqquent cleaning of lids with medicated lid cleaner available without prescription (occusoft foam eyelid cleaner or TheraTears SteriLip foam eyelid cleaner) and if big problem a very good new antibiotic drop called Azasite.
Avatar f tn One time leads to little irritation (itchiness), but warm compress and cold compress get it over in a couple of day. In 2014, she woke up with a swollen eyelid (eye infection on eyelid)! Is the hormone at puberty a factor as she is producing more oil? How to prevent that from happening? Should I have her use diluted baby soap to wash her eyelids daily? Or some OTC eyelid wipes? Or warm compress twice a day?
Avatar n tn For the last couple of years, every few weeks or so, it would feel like there was an eyelash underneath my upper eyelid. I finally reverse flipped the eyelid open and saw there was 5 or 6 small pustules on the underside of the lid. The lid is red and swollen and it hurts. I have been diagnosed with ocular rosacea and blepharitis in the past. The only thing that has worked is doxycycline 50mg 1x/day.
Avatar m tn Some days I wake up with no pain, while others I need to keep my eyebrow very raised due to my eyelid being so swollen, and I also feel pressure around my upper right cheek and in my right ear I get random stabbing pain and ringing. I also feel like my eyesight is off, especially on days where the pressure is particularly bad it seems like I become very sensitive to light and it is hard to look at people in the eye.
570004 tn?1226980196 For the past 8 months or so I have been having recurrent problems with what is maybe blepharitis. It seems to come in cycles, getting better, and then worse, and then better again, but never fully resolving. The main symptoms are swollen eyelids (especially in the morning but persisting throughout the day), redness, gritty sensation, and extreme dryness alternating with excessive tearing.
Avatar f tn My eye lids are red and swollen and I have flaking. They think it's bufferidies or something like that. Have been putting warm water and cleaning with baby shampoo. I have had it for over 2 months and no improvement. The antibiotic jell didn't help. what else can I do? I want to use eye make up again.
Avatar n tn I also have something they say is blepharitis, I have red eyelid on one eye and it keeps mattering up and if I try to get it off the eyelids it hurts and sometimes even bleeds because it is stuck on there so bad. I can't seem to find anyone who knows anything about it either. I do not understand why I can't be rid of this painful and embarassing affliction, I need help from some one to get rid of it just like you do.
Avatar m tn ive been suffering from blepharitis/internal hordeola for about 9 months now. the condition now is worse than ever, the hordeola have not gone yet and the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva are constanly red, tearing, etc. whatever treatment i try, my eyes become more irritated and inflamed. last treatment consisted of ofloxacin and fluorometholone eyedrops (q6h) for 10 days, along with doxycycline and omega-3 pills for 3 months.
Avatar n tn Then recently about two days ago, my right eyelid swelled up and there were flakes on my eyelid. The flakes are gone now but it left behind a swelling still without any pain or irritations. Now both my eyelids have similar characteristics which is quite serious. I was wondering if anyone here have any advise for a situation like this? Should I seek a dermatologist? and I am 19 years old. I found this problem to be difficult to identify.
Avatar m tn Dr Hagan, 50 days ago i developed a small bump in my right superior eyelid. Painless and very firm. Almost 100% sure that its a chalazion. 3 weeks later, right next to this possible chalazion, my eyelid became red, itchy, with a little pain, like if i had something in my eye. Some light sensitivity and crusting. I also noticed that my eyelashes had something very similar to dandruff. Possible Anterior Blepharitis. Today, the bump and the redness remains, unchanged.
