I have basset who devoloped a huge swollen one side on her head and her eye swollen also and hard to open her mouth and painful.She is an outside dog in a kennel, brought her in gave her amoxicilln/augmentin for 5 days and swelling went down, area looked to be a cut on her head oozed and she is now fine.Problem my newfoundland has devolped the same symptoms today and he is also an outside dog in his own kennel alone.

If this lump is right below the eye towards her nose, that's a classic sign of an abscessed tooth.....Yes, they can come up over night!!!!! The swelling does make it look like an eye issue, but it clearly is not! Something else: This happened to one of mine & off we went to have her teeth checked....The lump came up overnight & her eye was swollen shut.....Turns out, there was a splinter lodged in the side of her face.....It was under the skin & broken off...I could not feel it.

He constantly was rubbing it. I took him to his pediatrician and he ruled out pink eye and an object in his eye. He gave us a prescription for the eye called vigamox, which is a strong antibiotic, and said he had some kind of allergic reaction to something. The swollen eye went down after a day and the redness was slowing disappearing. I also took him to an eye specialist the other day and he ruled out anything serious and said he may simply have allergies.

However, my biggest problem now is having had very puffy eyes for the last week, no redness or itchiness, just swollen eyelids. I have seen 2 doctors, who have given me eye drops and Loratadine and then Fexofenadine, but nothing is helping. I'm getting to the end of my tether, please help!

At first I thought I just irritated them but I looked in the mirror and the right corner of my right eye seems deflated/loose. when I look to the side, the skin kinda moves a little and makes my vision weird and uncomfortable. The lower part of my eye is a bit rid from me rubbing it. I looked it up right away and it seems like redundant conjunctiva but they say people a lot older than me get it. I'm just 19. If it is will it go away on its own??

She gave her an antibiotic eye drop. It took several weeks for it to heal. I guess in the process it damaged the dry eye even more. I'll just keep on trying and not give up. I love her to much to quit. Thank you for your comment.

A pellet was under the film of his left eye. I took him to an eye doctor for animals and they evaluated him and wanted to remove the eye but said it would just be cloudy if i decided not to remove it. I decided not to and it turned a almost solid gray and remained normal size. About a week ago his eye began to swell and turned a blood shot red. It is now probably the size of a golf ball. Im taking him to the vet on monday.

my dogs left eye looks like something may have poked it...the white part of her eye is very red. she cant open it all the way due to what looks like some swelling. there is also some kind of dis-charge comming out of the corner of her eye she does not seem to be in pain...should we take her to the vet now...

swelling of the eye or eye lid should be seen by a veterinarian and not treated at home with human medication! dogs vocalizing like this usually means they want something. at 9 months I'm going to guess it means she wants direction, leadership and play / relationship from you. A trained, tired dog is a happy quiet dog. Obedience, walking, games, exercises and discipline is what this dogs needs. That comes from you with help of a good trainer.

which is more likely in old dogs, not puppies. In old dogs that can also indicate cancer, in my experience with an older Golden Retriever. I think fat pockets are also more prevalent in large dogs.
