Avatar f tn very painful and annoying, do you have any suggestions that can relieve a swollen eye lid? I have tryed a cold compress, it didnt seem to work at all. I have tryed a very warm compress and it will take away some swelling but still in alot of pain and the swelling seems to just come back. it has been three days now, two with the swollen lid. thank you.
Avatar f tn hot compress with epsom salt might help dry out the bump and get it to go away.
Avatar n tn In January I went to NYC and all of a sudden my right upper eyelid started to be swollen every morning. It never got to be extremely swollen but noticeably bigger than my left eye. I thought it was because of the cold weather up there (bcs I'm from south florida) so I did not think about it as much. When I for back to Florida, it still was swollen. So I tried to apply warm compress to it and it seemed like it was getting worse so I applied some cold compress and it got slightly better.
Avatar n tn s office. As a conservative measure he can treat the chalazion with an effective hot compress, which is not a warm washcloth. Put about 1/2 cup of uncooked plain white rice in a pantyhose foot, tie a knot, cut off the remainder, and you have a rice baggy. Microwave for 20 - 40 seconds depending on the power of your microwave. Apply as a hot compress 2 - 3 times per day. The rice should stay warm for at least 3 minutes - if not, microwave longer.
Avatar f tn I often wake up with a large, swollen eyelid. This has happened for over a month now. It alternates between both the left and right eye, top or bottom eyelid, and sometimes even both. There is no pain, and the swelling is normally reduced after using a cold compress... I have not noticed any patterns as to when the swelling occurs, and went weeks without makeup to see if that would help (if it was an allergic reaction.) Nothing seems to be effective, what could be the problem?

Avatar f tn It is probably due to rubbing. Try cold compresses. Dr. O.

Avatar f tn Am 24 years old and wear glasses. But recently I was at work on a Thursday and started having pain in my right eye I thought at first that I probably need my eyes checked but as the day progressed the pain got worst. The pain continued for two days then I decided to go to the doctor's office. She say it was pink eye and prescribed an antibiotic eye drop. Everything went down hill from there my sclera and conjunctiva got swollen BADLY.

Avatar m tn I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Avatar m tn My son woke up with a swollen eye that is hard to open and itches and stings really bad. I had him take a benadryl and put a cold compress on it. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn sorry to hear you woke up to that... thing is, so did i! lol. i woke up to my right eye swollen, red and burning/hurting. feels scratchy like there is something in it when i blink. Idk if your eye is like mine, but it also has alot of watery dischargh along with yellowish gunky discharge alot like the "sleepies" you get when you wake up. But anyway, point is, my boyfriend's mom is a nurse and she told me i have Pink Eye.
3062962 tn?1406743961 I have what I'm pretty sure is a clogged tear duct. I know that there can be an increase in sinus drainage during pregnancy and I didn't know if it was common. I can't get in to see my doctor until Monday, so I'm wondering what I can do in the meantime. I apply pressure often to drain whatever it is that's coming out (it's green), and sleep with a wet compress. it just hurts so bad! my eye is swollen and tender.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I took Claritin last night and they are still swollen. I do have antibiotic eye drops since I have blepharitis and sometimes get infections. But usually they feel grainy or like they have rocks in them. I don't feel like that. I can't get an appointment with an eye doctor. They are all booked, even the ones that I pay cash for. Should I just use the drops just in case or is this not an eye infection?
Avatar m tn I put a hot compress on it and got a decent amount of pus out (this was yesterday). Today I woke up with my eye swollen as well as another white head on it. So I did another compress and alot came out. Then the swelling on my eye went pimpledown some. Still looks somewhat bruised like I got punched in the eye... later in the day I got a more pus out. It still hurts and on that side of my face and head hurt pretty bad (the headache is back but more localized).
1901977 tn?1333991726 It's mostly one eye...it's all red and swollen, not a cute look. Using a cold compress right now, seems to help. I'll try the hot one tomorrow. I went to the doctor today, she prescribed some eyedrops today, but because they're prescription, I can only take them twice a day. I need something for in between, and just can't figure out what's safe to take.
Avatar n tn I can not tolerate make up at all (all of a sudden). They feel thicker or swollen below the crease. Hard to describe NO ichcyness. Feel kind of raw on outside but I don't see anything.
Avatar n tn I continuiouslly feel as if there is stuff in the counter of my eye as you get when you wake-up in the morning, but there is nothing in my eye when I touch the counter. The eye feels as if I have a headace above iton my eyebrow. In the morning it is some what swollen but after showering it is not. My eye does NOT feel as if it is scratched or has been scratched. I have used eye drops and nothing has changed. Any help would be good with meds of over the counter.
Avatar m tn I now have what appears to almost look like welts not right under the eye they are lower almost near the cheekbone and both eyes have a swollen type blotch and they feel like dry skin on top of the redness when you run your finger over them and it is itchy sometimes. The skin on my eyelid is also scaly dry and red and itchy.
Avatar f tn One time leads to little irritation (itchiness), but warm compress and cold compress get it over in a couple of day. In 2014, she woke up with a swollen eyelid (eye infection on eyelid)! Is the hormone at puberty a factor as she is producing more oil? How to prevent that from happening? Should I have her use diluted baby soap to wash her eyelids daily? Or some OTC eyelid wipes? Or warm compress twice a day?
Avatar m tn Hello, Please help. My 3 yr old daughter has something I think it's call chalazion. She started a small one maybe around February and last maybe 2 months. The first one was on her upper lid. Just 4 weeks ago, she started a second one on the bottom. This one is a lot bigger like a pea size. It's hard and now there's a white head like pimple but it just sit there for over a week already.
Avatar f tn My eyelid is swollen and when I flip it up, I can see a little white bump on the underside of the lid. I was recently diagnosed with strep throat and wonder if my antibiotic will help if this is an infection. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Eye lid swelling is a common sign of allergies. It can be related to foods, medication, creams, soaps, etc. Use cold compress for the swelling. Hopefully, the allergist can figure out the problem. However, you should note what your child was eating, using, or playing with when this occurs. Dr. O.
