I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
Now everytime I go there, I end up with hives and the swollen eyelids. I visit my boyfriend 1 weekend a month. I go there on a Friday and I come home on a Sunday. Once I get home, it usually takes several days for all this to calm down and go away. Last time, instead of staying at his house, we stayed in a hotel. My eyes didn't swell. I did break out in hives, but they weren't as bad as usual. Since July, I have seen allergy doctors and regular doctors.
For example, i used a face wash with benzoyl peroxide for 5 months with no problems and the one morning i woke up and my eyes were swollen with hives. Now anytime i use anything on my face with that ingredient i get hives around my eyes. A few days ago I washed my hair with head and shoulders ( a shampoo i randomly use all the time) and woke up the next morning once again with hives around my eyes.

- Hives and itchiness all over body , particularly abdomen and tops of legs (after dinner and dessert)

I was diagnostic with anemia like a month ago. Im really scared cause i have never in my life had hives until halloween 2008. At first i thought it was just a rash but then it started going all over my body. My ankles, knees, and elbows were really swollen. They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal.
In looking up side effects of Effexor as well as withdrawal effects, there is no mention of hives or swollen ankles. But someone can have an effect that no one in the studies which generally include many thousands of people.have experienced.
But the fact that your hives and swollen ankle have not gone away sounds highly irregular. I've gotten hives from medications in the past, which went away fairly quickly after stopping the medication.
About two weeks after that I started to get hives. Now instead of hives I get like red marks on my skin. The hives literally itch and burn so bad. Zyrtec helps. I suspect I have been suffering from hypothyroidism for a number of years. I am still experiencing symptoms with treatment and the hives come and go as they please. My DR sent me to an allergist who believes that the hives are a result of high TSH and I agree, but my latest labs came back 'normal'. DR did increase the Levothyroxine to 75mcg because she(thankfully) is treating me based on how I feel instead of the lab results.

It sounds like allergies to me. I have severe allergies to just about all nature and cats and dogs. Though I don't get hives, the lymph node discomfort and sinus problems worsen for me too when I'm exposed too long to the outdoors, etc. I didn't begin to have allergy issues until I was in my 40's, so it's definitely possible to develop an allergy you never had before. Zyrtec or generic form has helped my sister who gets hives.
When you scratch your cells burst and release histamines... you may find yourself swollen. I have had this condition to the point of being disfigured and in the ER being pumped full of steroids.
(don't let anyone prescribe steroids to stop your reaction unless it's life threatening, this could cause a rebound effect)
My advice: Don't drive yourself insane trying to find a cause to your hives. The immune system is a mystery.
When I called the Dr. he thought it was pink eye, until they saw it and the hives around the swollen area. They gave me a round of steroids, but I have no tolerance for most prescription drugs for some reason. The swelling seems to be going down, though it does occasionally itch like mad, but ice helps that. I will wait until tomorrow and if it has not improved I will give the steroids a try.

At the time of the visit my vision was not blurry and my eyes had not started to itch yet.My mother suggested rinsing my bedding and clothes in hot water. I am trying that right now.
) After starting the antibiotic my cough cleared up very fast! However, the hives lingered, but got slightly better each night. The hives faded and by the 7th night they were gone. I had a few nights of no hives and I thought everything had resolved itself. But, last night I got another pretty bad episode of hives (rash all over legs and arms, some stomach that looks like a sunburn and was extremely itchy-woke me up.) I took benedryl and used an ice pack and it went away.

For the past 2 months, I have had bad hives, including swelling of my face, lips, and eyelids. When the hives started, I was going thru a situation at work that was uncomfortable, I've seen the Dr. several times. I had not had a bad episode for approx 3 years. At that time, I was finally given a shot, and that really helped, and the hives went away-I took the Prednisone for the weekly pack, and some kind of acid reducer, and Zertec.
every once in a while, more so when i am physically doing something, a spot (like a hive, just one in the same spot all the time) developes under(not in or on my eye) (it's on my skin) my right eye and today it seems like it's alot bigger from when i seen it last(a month or 2 ago)....it's about quarter of a inch in diameter, right now probably half a inch.
