Avatar m tn t see anything wrong but wanted an xray just in case. As of yesterday I can see my epiglottis in the back of my throat without using anything to depress my tongue. Imnot experiencing any pain and am not sick in any way. I dont smoke and never have. I drink occasionally maybe 1-2 times a week and only 1-2 beers or a glass of when when I do. I'm 26 years old and in good physical condition.
Avatar n tn So I have been having throat problems lately, and the other day I was able to touch my epiglottis deep in my throat. Today, as I looked in the mirror with a flashlight pointed in my throat, I could see my epiglottis clearly visible. I was not sticking my tongue out. I've been having some breathing problems lately, and I know a lot of it is anxiety related, but I would like to know if my visible epiglottis could be serious. I am 15 years old. Please help.
Avatar m tn I have been noticing my epiglottis popping up in my throat for 3 months now. The ENT says its normal but uncommon. I'm not having trouble eating drinking or breathing.. It just bothers me a lot. Feels like I can gag cuz I feel it in my throat. What can I do to get it to relax and go back to its normal place in the throat??? I'm starting to feel like I'm going to go crazy.. It bothers me s lot.. What can I do?? Is there anything I mean anything to fix this for good?!?
Avatar n tn I was also wondering if it could be Epiglottis that I'm seeing in her throat. Is it possible to see it in a toddler's mouth? I can't see it in my mouth. But when she pulls out her tongue, what I see seems to match the description of Epiglottis. I'm just wondering why her doctor didn't mention epiglottis to me, if it is possible that this was what I was seeing, when she pulls her tongue out. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/19595.

Avatar f tn HI. I have had this feeling of something being stuck in my throat for a week now. I went to the doctor today to hear nothing. I was told my glands weren't swollen, my throat looked great, I was young, etc. I have an appt. to come back in 3 weeks. I was also told to drink a lot of fluids. The next thing will be do a procedure where they look down my throat. I came home and stuck my finger back where I thought the feeling was coming from.

1173247 tn?1504594662 I have recently noticed a clicking noise/sensation in my throat when I breathe in and out. I believe it is most noticeable when laying down. I have previously had a panendoscopy to investigate a lump sensation in my throat which found nothing and a recent ultrasound found no lumps on my thyroid, (despite having been told previously that I had a goitre). I am currently having problems with my jaw - I have been diagnosed with a jaw joint disorder.

Avatar n tn She is now almost 9 years old and i just wanted to ask if this caused any change in your childs speech. My daughter speaks in a baby voice and I thought that might have something to do with it.
Avatar n tn Hi, thanks for reading, I hope you can help. Today I developed a sore throat which doesn't feel any different from a normal sore throat, but looking in the mirror if I stick my tongue out as far as I can, I can just about see a large white lump in the middle of my tongue, right at the back. It's shaped almost like a tooth - slightly wider at the top. It's white, with blood vessels visible, and it's nearly as big as my tonsils (which don't seem swollen).
Avatar n tn What you have described may be his epiglottis. It can be seen in young children when they yawn, cough or open widely. I've never seen or heard of an "extra tongue" in any craniofacial or genetic disorder. I suggest you take him to a Craniofacial Center if possible. They are usually located within a large hospital. The other consultation would be with a Speech Pathologist. They are well trained on evaluating not only his speech but swallowing and throat muscle function.
Avatar n tn I am a little scared because for the last few days i have felt like there is something in the back of my throat... such as food.. or whatever. I have had a cold so there is flem, but that isnt it. I cleared my throat with my finger and felt a flappy piece of skin or flesh or whatever at the back of my tongue i think thats what i feel when i swallow. :\ it scares me.... what could it be? is there suppose to be skin there and i just didnt notice?? help!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn a problem with the epiglottis. I work in a X-ray place and have patients come in with a bad epiglottis which would allow fluid or food to get into the lungs. I am no doctor, but just offering hopefully good info what I know. The other study that is done is an Upper Gastrointestinal Barium study (UGI). Good luck. You may want to ask the doctor if these things COULD be a solution. I hope you find what you need.
1538126 tn?1292717070 For a few months now I have had what started out as a simple sore throat and tiny clear blisters, not in clusters(I do not have an std) but separate from each other. The blisters never went away and more problems started happening. My throat has been red and I am assuming from the prolonged irritation, I now have small red blood vessels that show close to the start and on my tonsils. I also have tiny white dots my tonsils and now tiny reds dots on my soft palette.
Avatar f tn ve done this before and never seen this thing in the picture before... I did some research and it seems like it's my epiglottis but I swear I have never seen it before and I'm concerned.
329165 tn?1515471990 Epiglottis is swollen, gland is affected due to inflammation (not EBV related), it is GERD related and there is something physically wrong that is causing all my symptoms. He did a fiberoptic-pipe-through-the-nose test (AIDA) and discovered that the MUSCLE that runs down the esophagus (it is attached to the Epiglottis and vocal cords, larynx, etc.
Avatar m tn Okay, so I noticed for a long time now. (3-4 years) I have not been able to get a full breath at all. Then starting recently (3-4 months ago) I started to have pain in the upper interior of my windpipe. (It seemed to be coming from just below the epiglottis) Tonight it was worse than usual and I let out a cough and the pain moved. It was no longer in the same area but now it was coming from right above my epiglottis. I tried drinking some water.
