Hi Everyone, I've been experiencing swollen ankles, my left one more swollen than my right one, even if I don't stand for a long time. They're even swollen after being in bed all night. I'm athletic, fit and not overweight. I have two questions: 1) is the edema a sign that HCV is progressing? and 2) can liver ultrasounds reveal mild fibrosis? My stats: 53, female, geno 1 VL 11 million infected 25 years/blood transf & frequently symptomatic (fever, swollen glands, fatigue, weak, etc.
My 37 year old son has a strange looking rash on his ankles. This just started about 4 days ago. Initially it looked more like a regular rash, but has been changing in appearance. The rash is mainly on the inner ankles. The spots have gotten larger, are yellowish brown on the inside now, with a red ring. They are very itchy, but not swollen nor feverish. Our local P.A. doesn't know what this may be, but prescribed some sort of cream for the itching. It isn't really helping.
I have type 1 diabetes and for a couple of months now I've had the same problem with my ankles. First I noticed my feet were swolen, then my ankles started itching so badly they would wake me up every single night. If I put hydrocortisone cream on them and let it soak in before lying down at night, I can usually sleep through the night. That might be worth a shot while you're trying to figure out what the cause is. I definitely want to find out the cause so I can put an end to this misery.
Painful, swollen lower legs and ankles, with rash. Also cough. Applying ointment at first helps with the rash, then comes back.
My doctors thought I had the first signs of heart failure because my ankles/feet were swollen. Thankfully that wasn't the problem. They were so swollen I couldn't put my special compression support hose over them. I had to go without for several months. My doctors kept giving me water pills to decrease the swelling but they didn't work. I had those two conditions at once and that confused the doctors.
I have had a skin rash on both my inner thighs and ankles since Aug (it is now Dec). My inner thigh rash appears to red blothy and somtimes appear bummpy when itched. I have been using Cortaird which at times seems to help but has not gotten rid of the rash. My ankle rash on the other hand appears like little red pimples and tend to get very itchy toward the later part of the day. Should I be concern since I have had my rash for so long and what else can I use to make it go away?
then two days later its all over my inner thighs and testicles. also the bottom of my penis and my testicles are swollen. And the rash started as a bunch of bumps, but now its like a layer of reddish purple over my groin and inner thighs area. it itches but i dont have to itch it, its like a dull itch, and if i touch it, then it starts to itch a lot worse. then there is the rash on the top of my feet. it doesnt go all the way down to my toes but it goes about halfway or so.
Hello, Until couple of months ago I didn't have any major rash in my life. It might be worth mentioning that the appearance of this rash coincided with me moving to a new apartment, starting to use a new type of detergent and a new shower gel. It is kind of periodical and sporadic and the itching sometimes disappears for few days, and than returns again.
I was cleaning the fungus in our pool and I was standing in it barefoot and now my ankles are extremely swollen with a rash and purple and red discoloration.
I went to a different doctor, who took a look at my throat (now severely inflamed/infected, tonsils *****), swollen lymph nodes, and rash, and told me that I had scarlet fever. He didn't perform any tests, but prescribed amoxicillin.
Did you ever get a correct diagnosis of what caused this rash. I had a small 3/4 inch by 2 inch rash under my ankle that looks exactly like yours does in the photo (now). It started out small and itchy but has spread and even has kind of a busted blister streak in the center of all the redness. Did you get rid of it on your own and if so what did you use. If not, what was the diagnosis and medical treatment?
So my lady bits are all swollen and have been itchy. My Dr checked for an infection and that was negative. Then I started having lots of pain. I guess the swelling is bad enough that it's all started chafing. Ugh talk about miserable. Unfortunately nothing I try relieves the swelling so the chafing just continues. Anyone have any suggestions?
Raised red rash on chest and few red spots that look like pimples on arm and back, itching. Both ankles are swollen. I have a history of mrsa but i dont have any abscess at this time. Do i need to be concerned about staph infection?
Not for sure what this is. About a week ago I got small bump like , red, itchy spots on both lower legs...on my ankles up about 10" onto my calves. I thought at first fleas in the house maybe....but after putting out a flea trap, nothing. In fact there are so many, it can't be bugs...in less it is some type of mite or something. I sit at the computer alot at night...my wife does some, but nothing on her. A few weeks ago, I did a little money detecting...
Hi, I've had very swollen ankles and a very fast heart rate (125-135) for about 2 weeks now. I'm rather concerned about this. I can feel my heart beating quite a bit of the time. This can be alarming. I also sometimes have difficulty breathing, but I do have asthma. I recently spent 10 days in the hospital for asthmatic/bronchitis. While I was there the doctors were concerned about my heart, because of these symptoms. They did an EKG, but I guess it was fine.
This was the second bite in a year. My forehead was very painful and swollen, but after a lot benedryl and prednisone the symptoms on my head resolved in 3 days. However, 7 hours post bee sting I woke up with hives on my legs, butt, back and arms. There were no new foods, medications, or detergents. I did bring a new foster dog into the household 3 weeks prior to the hives but have since then found her a home.
Then, last Sunday I woke up with incredibly itchy bumps(so bad that it's actually woken me up at night) on both of my ankles, and at this time the other spots were gone. Now, I still have the itchy bumps(which don't seem to have gotten any better) and the small red spots on my legs have returned. I've pretty much ruled out allergies, since I haven't been in contact with anything different than normal. Same with bug bites, especially since they don't appear to look like a bite at all.
As far as the rash which has been on my ankles for quite some time, I happen to be watching a show on tv where they were cleaning out a couples house and found black mold in the basement. Two of the team got this terrible rash on their ankles and it spread and they had to have a special team come in who was in special gear. I have found black mold in my basement after it flooded.
hi my 3 yr old son develops white lumps on his face hands and whatever other skin is exposed to cold weather, it starts getting red then the lumps appear, i also noticed it happens when we go shopping to the supermarket or if the house is cold, he also gets swollen wrists knees and ankles and are red, once we are indoors the symtoms do go after a while. i have seen a doctor and he seems to think it might be raynards disease but he dosent seem to get the same symtoms. please help.
I went to examine them in the bathroom for better lighting but they were nothing but red bumps. They weren't swollen. They kind of feel small paper cuts. I thought that maybe something might have bit me but theres nothing on my ankles or legs or anywhere else but just those two places. During this time I have also encountered a fever about two nights ago but it had stopped one night ago. I have also had sweats when I went to sleep when I had the fever but that had also stopped yesterday.
The rash is not raised, but my arms may be slightly swollen. I have had peripheral edema in my ankles and lower legs for the past 2 1/2 months. Of the pictures online, the only rash that looks similar is erythema marginatum, but when I had a throat culture and rapid strep a couple months ago, they came out negative (but my throat is still inflamed and I have had no runny nose/cough/cold symptoms). The last known strep infection I had was scarlet fever 3 1/2 years ago (at 20 years old).
ranges in color from reddish to purple to bruised-looking; and can be necrotic (crsty/oozy). The rash may develop a bull's-eye rash or target look. The shape may be circular, oval, triangular or a long-thin ragged line. Other skin problems include: lymphocytoma (a benign nodule or tumor) and acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans (a discoloration/degeneration usually of the hands or feet). HEART AND BLOOD VESSELS: Irregular beats, heart block, myocarditis, chest pain, vasculitis.
I am a seventeen year old female experiencing extreme tingling and itching sensations in my lower calves, ankles and feet. They almost feel swollen and are preventing me from sleeping. I read up on it and it appears as though it is mainly occurring in women. They said their doctor told them it was stress related but they didn't buy it. Could it be a hormonal thing? I just recently switched birth control pills could that be causing it?
